I know this sounds stupid, but I'm new. Is this whole RPG just like one big novel, with each adding their own tidbit of their own character? Or did I miss something. Don't get me wrong, if that is indeed how it is done, then I'd love to do it, but I'm just a little confused on how.

That's basically it. It's a huge novel with everyone adding their own tidbits.

Hey guys, Question.
I'd like my character to speak and act pretty formally. I was wondering-
1) I've mostly just been using what ever military-speak (or Battlestar Galactica military pseudo-speak) I can remember. Is there any info somewhere on Transformers specific stuff, like rank names and such?
and
2) I'm a little fuzzy on chain of command below the Command Ranks. I know as a Seeker my character answers to Megatron, then Starscream, but they're way at the top, so who would be my immediate superior? The Ranks were pretty fuzzy in the toons, but I figure things have be a bit more concrete in an RPG, what with so many people involved.

I expect one of the other mods will correct me if I'm mistaken, but since I happen to be around, I figure I'll take a stab at offering some kind of answer.
1. To the best of my knowledge, ranks among the TF's seem to be more a matter of tacit understanding than explicit military protocol. "Prime" is as much a title as a name, of course, and many (but not all) Decepticons refer to Megatron as "Lord," but beyond that it seems to be simply understood who is a squadron leader and who is a team commander and so on without the need for additional titles. The name seems to say it all, for the most part. Being giant robots, I imagine they have other means of communicating their relative place in the hierarchy, beyond military insignia or an official designator like captain, colonel, etc.
2. As a squadron leader, I think your character would answer first to whoever's in overall command of the region in which she's operating. Orders from that superior would be trumped by orders from Starscream, whose orders in turn are trumped by those of Megatron. Higher ranking mechs such as, say, Razorclaw (who commands the Predacons) or Roadbuster (who is Ground Forces Commander) wouldn't really have any official standing to dispense orders to her, but generally it's considered a matter of respect (and prudence!) to listen to Decepticons of higher rank. Mostly because they tend to be more powerful and awfully short-tempered, and nobody's really going to question them too much if they decide you're being insubordinate and require correction.
So, yeah, it is to some degree a judgment call, and to some degree a matter of whoever the mods (via the faction leaders) designate as "in charge" of a given area, group, etc. But, confusing as that system is, the 'Bots tend to be even more decentralized, so count your blessings!

Indeed! But don't be fooled by the toons - Optimus Prime and other high-ranking 'Bots are military commanders first and father figures/big brothers/cheerful elementary school principals second. Insubordination in the Autobot ranks might not get you a Motormaster-style beatdown, but it can get you tossed into the brig, demoted, and/or placed on crappy duty.

hello, im new to the rp here, and I noticed something in the threads. Certain names are bolded, why is that?
: ) Hope I get work with some of ya!
Oh yea, I tried searching for any posts about the "bold" topic, but the search engine isn't working for me. Nor is it working for anything else I search for.

Hey SnipeShade!
The Bold text is used to draw attention to something important. When a name is in bold it means that you are speaking to that character, or otherwise wish them to notice what you are doing.
Also, most people use bold text when they write the location of their character, which should be listed at the top of every post to avoid confusion.
Just to give you a little more info: italics mean thoughts, while italics surrounded by (or >, different people do it different ways) means the character is using a comlink.
I hope that clears it up.
Welcome!
Tas.

Where do those cute avatars (the cartoony character portraits, like Dev's Grimlock one) come from?
Sorry if this is a common question. I'm new at this.
Thats quite alright, I was asking the same thing when I first saw them popping up. You can find them over at the webcomic http://www.lilformers.com in the goodies section.
Off with the toons, let the delicate grim odor of darkness sweep the lands!

Maybe, maybe. In a very small role if I do, though. Cryhavoc's trying to lure me in again. ~_~

This probably isn't the right thread for my question, but I'm a bit lost so here goes.
I just registered on the Forums with the main purpose of participating in the RPG, and I had wanted to register as Punch (and Counterpunch) if no one was posting as him. I've read through the rules and the RPG history, but I must have missed where to apply for a canon character. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Don't worry, Double. This is the right thread.
You apply for canon chars on the same thread as fanmade ones, the "Post your new character applications here" thread.

You're meant to be posting there, and every other 'Bot who was pulling back from the "Siege of Polyhex."

I'm going to free up my characters in this rpg and let other people play them if they wish. I haven't been checking in here for a long time and when I do there's nothing for me to post for. I'm quite sure my fan made characters won't be picked up by anyone so consider them no longer in play. And this includes my namesake and both Decepticon mini-spies. The canon characters free for grabs are Bluestreak and Slag. I don't think I had any others in here.

I get that worng all the time, I put internal monologue in > and speech in italics. Ill try switching the mback to make it easier next time.
Apoloigies to Dev's for taking so long to post as Shockwave, he's really hard (but rewarding!) to write for due to his techie language and intelligence and whilst I may post in over HMW regually, i dont have to think so hard about what i put over there.
Ill be here more often from now on.
