How come Henkei Ratchet is listed (and sold out) on BBTS but we haven't even heard about Hasbro TF Universe Classics Ratchet?
Does anybody know the deal?

There were some pics of the prototype around a while ago. He's what you'd expect, a repaint of Ironhide with the lights on the top.

you haven't heard of a Hasbro Ratchet, because there won't be one at least not for a while.

Ratchet for now is a Takara Japan only item.

A little off topic but....does anyone know if they fix the head issue with the Ironhide/Ratchet mold in the Henkei version?

This is what I've been wondering as well. Takara is always getting praised for their superior QC this would be an excellant chance for that to shine.

*looks at Henkei Thundercracker*

*tries not to laugh*

*fails*

    Takara superior QC. Hoo, you guys crack me up.

The problems with Ironhide aren't anything to do with QC, so unless Takara come up with a new mold, it's gonna have the same problems.

I would be absolutely amazed if they fixed the head problem. It isn't a simple fix, it is literally chunks of plastic getting in the way.

Don't get me wrong, I never have thought thier QC was superior. I've always thought it was myth.

It is. I just couldn't resist poking fun at it.

From reading Matt Booker's quide, it looks like the problem was a change to the design fairly late in the day. Fixable, but I don't see the mold getting modified as much as it would need.

It's a myth. The stuff is made from the same molds in the same factories, as far as I know. People just like to think they're getting something more than a different paint job when they buy a Takara figure instead of a Hasbro one.

The closely timed releases of Henkei Thundercracker and City Commander make a great case for a fan made product outshining the official brand in QC.

Well, it didn't. Two people have had their heads snap off, others have had missing pieces, while others have mentioned that their CC's head barely moves and they are afraid to toy with it. I thought there were quite a few complaints for a small run. Also, QC is much easier with a small private run.

Considering how many toys HasTak pump out, that are made by outsourced factories in China, probably infact made by the lowest bidder, their QC is not really all that bad. With such large runs, I'd certainly expect to see 20 or 30 complaints in the forums from runs of 25k, which is in line with the number of complaints about CC.

The main reason you won't see a universe classics Rachet here in the states is not because it takara/tomy exclusive, it is because he is a main character in the animated series and hasbro has stated time and time again that if a figure is in one line it won't appear in the other that is why we haven't got a classic Blitzwing.

Why do people insist on getting that wrong? Once again: Hasbro have said they don't want to have two similar figures with the same name selling in two different lines ~AT THE SAME TIME. Those last four words make all the difference.

Henkei TC: same QC problems as most people have reported. Arm holes too big for guns, wings a bit loose in robot mode. Still love him.

O.k so i did not go into the reasons for it, but that is the case yes.

That does not in any way mean that Hasbro will not eventually decide to release a Ratchet. but not until animated is off the shelves.

So Prowl and Bumblebee are okay though? I think they could do it, they are just afraid that Ratchet will sit around because he is not popular enough, or something.

For those wanting to preorder Henkei Ratchet, just keep checking. BBTS will likely add more to meet demand, it already sold out once before and they added more stock.
