Those are characters popular enough to warrant exceptions I think. Even then, only Prowl was released in two lines at the same time, Bumblebee was released 2 years back.

The problem is similarity.

Prowl happens to have enough differences from the animated version to the Universe version to not be as much of a problem.

From black and gold motorcycle to white and black police car.

but from a red and white ambulance to a: white and red ambulance, it can cause confusion. Hasbro does not want that.

Bumblebee is only available from the animated line right now so not an issue.
The fact that he was released last year with Classics is irrelevant. As animated was not out yet.

So a legends version that is G1 is irrelevant? I think not. In fact he will probably have both an Animated and G1 Legends version. Jazz also had an animated toy, and a legends toy.

Starscream has a Universe toy, a G1 legend, and at least 2 animated toys (voyager, activator and upcoming legend).

I think their statement is failing.

Classic Starscream's also got that more G1 accurate repaint coming out, that might come out while the animated version is still on the shelves.

That's not what I said. I said Classics Bumblbee is irrelevant. and Legends BB is not out yet AFAIK he'll be out with 25th We don't really know if animated will still be going on when he's released.


Jazz well i guess there's always and exception to the rule.

So?, having more than one version of the same toy in the same line is not something they said they wouldn't do, further more, its been done in every series. and has nothing to do with having the same character in more than one toy line at the same time.

Neither Deluxe nor legends universe Starscream is out yet, and well again a white and red jet versus a blue reversed jet. I think like Prowl they are different enough. Also nothing is to say they'll be out at the same time.

Sorry about the title of this thread. The question I have is does anyone know the really reason why hasbro won't release a universe classic Ratchet and don't give me the B.S. about it being because he is a main player in the animated series or there saving him for Botcon. I looked at my Ironhide figure today and saw how easy it would be paint him white and add some sort Emergency rescue symbol and a light bar, and you have Ratchet.

A shitload of Animated Ratchets. Now, with Classics Prowl, that wasn't a huge deal because he was an alternate vehicle mode and vastly different looking robot mode. Whereas Animated Ratchet and Classics would be very similar. I wouldn't put it out there either. But that doesn't mean we won't get it ever. I mean, for Pete's sake, Ironhide hasn't been out for that long and we're already crying for a repaint? It will come, don't worry.

One way or the other, it's 100% there will be a Classic/Universe Ratchet. If not else, it will be Botcon or CC exclusive, but it can't be evaded.

Classics Ratchet will come. Just because it has not been announced yet doesn't mean there won't be one. It is a simple repaint and a moneymaker for Hasbro. After the Seekers fiasco, I'd me mighty surprised if Hasbro dropped the ball on another key repaint.

I believe Red Alert, Ratchet, Hotspot and Grapple will all appear as official repaints in the Universe line. IMHO, the reason nothing has been announced yet is that these will be released after the next line of movie toys as filler between the 2nd and 3rd movie. Hasbro will be gearing up to release The Fallen toys in just a few months and will want to keep the attention on those, or so I assume.

So you're asking for a reason other than the one Hasbro have given in response to this question?

Yeah. That's why I'm about as certain as is possible that we'll get Ratchet in Universe. Hasbro aren't going to miss a chance at a repaint, especially if the remolded parts already exist.

I had thought that Ratchet had been announced for the Universe line already, huh oh well. I have to agree with everyone else here, I really doubt that the Ironhide mold won't be repainted into Ratchet. It is just such a logical move really and I would be surprised if they dropped the ball on this guy like the did with the seekers.

I pre-ordered the Henkei version just to be on the safe side, but I have no doubt at some point Rachet will make a Universe appearance.

He'll be a BotCon or ComiCom exclusive very likely. That's if he comes out at all in the US.

Actually, he'll be so exclusive that only those TF collectors that work as EMT's and in the medical field will be able to own him. Sorry, but you're outta luck.

Actually, I'm the only person who's getting a Hasbro Ratchet. They're bribing me to keep quiet about the space elves.

I've heard that HAsbro isn't releasing a Classics Ratchet to punish the fandom for always bitching about repaints. That'll teach ya!
