Containers for storage?

Postby GuyIncognito » Mon Feb 11, 2008 3:41 pm

Anyone have any suggestions for some type of storage containers for my TFs? Now that my collection is growing too big to display everything, I'd like some way to store the ones I don't want to display. The ideal thing (I think) would be some sort of plastic Rubbermaid-type container with lots of separate compartments. Something transparent or semi-transparent would be great, and it also needs to be air-tight to keep dust and dirt out. Any thoughts? I'm thinking something kind of like this, but obviously it would need bigger compartments:

Or, alternately, if someone made small cheap containers that could be stacked. Years ago when my mom collected Beanie Babies, she had these clear plastic boxes that she kept them in. Like these:

i put a load of mine into the loft about 6 months ago, and i got them down a few days ago and loads of my g1's had gone yellow :? So i now regret not taking more care in storing mine. Dont know if i could have stopped them yellowing,. but my Magnus wont be the same again

Weapon: Electro-Sword
i was told that if you keep them in the sun, then put them in a dark place (ie a loft) then it can cause mass yellowing :?

I use something like this:

Drawer Cart
I have 2 of those actually. bigger bots go on the bottom drawers, smaller ones usually in vehicle mode g in the top drawers.
and then i have a couple of these:
Desktop drawers

On top, for smaller figures like minicons, weaponry, and accessories.

Works fairly well, and the drawers can be pulled out out, they also have wheels so they can be moved around.

They aren't exactly air tight, but then again there really isn't much dirt where I live so they work.

Every so often I'll take them out and blow a puff of compressed air on them to keep them nice and clean.

Mine are usually away from sunlight, but nothing really dark, and i can;t say I've noticed any yellowing. My oldest figure right now is a G1 Erector, and his just as sharply yellow as he was back when I first got him in the 80's.

I just started looking for individual storage containers myself.
I found these and they look nice.

This looks good for minicon in alt mode

There are sizes for things like footballs, basketballs,
mini helmets. They would be stackable inside a larger
box. For storage and moving I would add some foam
to keep them from moving around and such.

You can find these at probably any Sports Card shop.
Most of these are Pro Mold designs.
