Decisions decisions....
Ok--I'm kinda at an impasse here. There are two figures that I need/want, but I can only afford one of them right now. They are leader Megatron & leader Brawl. I currently don't have a Megatron in any form, but I do have a deluxe Brawl. The cool thing is here in the Dallas area, both figures are fairly plentiful right now. Thoughts? Recommendations? Lemme know...

leader brawl is WAY better than leader megatron and deluxe brawl combined! i have both, and couldn't care less about megs. i mainly got him for completion. if you do go with megs, be sure to swap the springs in his arm so his gimmicks will actually work.

Thanks, Tweezy

I am lucky enough to own all 3. If you can, buy them both. If you can only buy one right now though, I think that is totally up to you and you're asthetics.
Brawl is a great figure with some really cool gimmicks. He is poseable, has an array of weapons and looks totally bad ass in tank and robot mode. The only thing that sucks is that there is ALOT of automorphting sections, which I think make him a little delicate because you dont want to bend springs or break something. Still, he is worth you're money. Deluxe brawl is a joke compared to this one.
As for leader class megs, what good is an Optimus prime without a megatron? Some people like him, some people don't. He is actually an incredible detailed figure, and with a little paint on the face, looks much better. His gimmicks dont work well right out of the box. But I really think it is a production error. If you take a small screw driver and switch the spring from one arm into the other, the gimmicks are actually pretty cool and work well (a firing hand on a chain, and his fusion cannon that stays put in the other arm). He is a big tough bulky character and looks like he could kick primes ass.
The choice is yours man!

I'm sure a lot of people are going to say Leader Brawl. But you know, he's such an insignificant character in the movie compared to everyone else. I know, Brawl's a great Leader class toy, with lights, with machine gun, and grenade-launching sound effects. Interesting transformation, and so on and so forth.
But there are drawbacks to him too. Like the annoying clear parts, annoying sound effects, and the top 2 turrests that keep falling off. His main gun just hangs to the side, whereas the Deluxe, he can actually aim it, which is cool. Leader Brawl also has really skinny arms. I mean puny. If you like tanks, then hey, go for him.
Megatron. I chose to get Leader Megatron simply because he is Primes nemesis. The Leader of the Decepticons. His robot mode is actually pretty neat. His alt mode gets a lot of negative remarks because it isn't an earth alt mode. But remember, Megatron didn't give a rats behind of anything earth. He loathed the planet, and the pests infesting it. So, why would he take on an earth mode?
That said, his alt form is still kind of weird. You can see his head, and his colors are wrong. Well, okay. But it is original.
I have to admit, I had a REALLY hard time deciding between the two. And frankly, I feel your pain here. I wish I could be of better help.
Brawl beats Megatron in almost every catagory. But Megs is the still the badass leader, and he is the tallest, and widest of the three Leader figures so far. Even though he isn't as flashy as Brawl, he is still a pretty decent toy.
It comes down to what you like, and what you want. If you would rather have the leader of the Decepticons, and don't mind Megatrons quirks, then there you go. If you don't care, and just want a kickass tank, then there is Leader Brawl.
I chose Megatron because Brawl is dead, for one, didn't play a significant role in the movie, is dumber than a bag of hammers (read his stats and bio), and his sounds seem to be annoying. Plus I wanted a Megatron since I only have ever owned 1 Megatron in my life. That being Titanium WWI Megatron. GI Joe Titanium Megatron has been demoted to canon fodder fake Megatron.

That really depends on a few things. You want a better toy? Or a more well known character for display? And are you going to get Megatron painted?
Toy-wise, Brawl wins hands down, by a big margin as well. No competition on playbility, posebility, stability, electronics & looks. Right out of the box, Brawl wins in all of the above categories. And again, by a big margin on each category. Brawl only loses on being who he is...Brawl. A nobody that only have limited screen time.
Megatron is butt ugly without a paint job. His head actually is very nicely sculpted & detailed. And his overall proportion is not too bad. The paint & plastic just completely destroyed his look. But he can't pose too well with limited range on many joints. No neck joint. And thanks to the automorph flimpsy toes & no ankle, he is going to fall forward in most action pose, minus a static stand. His fusion cannon can be fun once you swap the spring. But again, playability, articultion, gimmick, electronics...all overshadowed by Brawl. But if you are patient enough and has a little painting skills, you can turn Megatron into a pretty good looking display piece, and a well worthy display along side with Prime.
So Brawl wins hands down as a toy, but we all know that there is always a part of us that wants a Megatron, just because he is Megatron, no matter how sucky the toy design is. And mine you, I am not trying to bash Meg. I like mine a lot too, but only after a lot of effort to get him look pretty. I can do many poses with Brawl & Prime. But for Megatron, I run out of poses really quickly. Either he doesn't look good in it, or he just can't balance good enough from not falling after a while.
