Deluxe Jolt: the unsung hero of the DOTM line

Postby GuyIncognito » Fri May 27, 2011 9:43 am

Hey, let's talk about Deluxe MechTech Jolt!

Alt mode: nice paint job, nice detailing
Bot mode: nice paint job, nice detailing, great articulation
MechTech weapon: cool

He's a huge improvement over ROTF Jolt. There's almost no comparison.

From what I've seen so far, I think he's the BEST Deluxe figure in the DOTM line.

What do YOU think?

If you had Topspin you'd say otherwise, or do you already have it?

Jolt seems nice from what I've seen in stores. Sadly he and Barricade are going to be the last two I pick up for Wave 2. So I'll get back to you with better detail on this figure.

I must say, paint or not, i think sideswipe is my favorite deluxe so far. Crankcase is a close second. Jolt looks really cool though, unfortunately i only get onscreen characters. Although, if i have some extra cash, i may pick him up.

I agree. Deluxe Jolt is probably my favorite of the DOTM line. I don't personally understand all the love Crankcase is getting while Jolt seems to be getting snubbed.

Maybe it's cause Crankcase is actually in the film?

Bazinga.

And for me, nothing tops ROTF Jolt. Badass little fig.

Just going strictly off the toy, and disregarding whether or not they're in onscreen, I find Jolt to be pretty awesome. I liked his ROTF mold well-enough, but I didn't feel like it really captured how he looked in the movie. The DOTM doesn't really either when you look at the details, but the overall shape of him is much close in my opinion.

Ever since I first transformed him, I can not un-see the fact that he has butterfly wings. I still love the mold though and I'm currently repainting him a nice shade of cobalt blue.

The DOTM Jolts I've seen seem to have iffy paintjobs, such as the rear spoiler's painted sections not matching the unpainted plastic section. He still looks cool, tho. I'm forcing myself to only buy re-paints/re-molds of previous characters when they go on sale. Still waiting for that.

FWIW I have both ROTF Jolts and I think they are great.

I do think he looks pretty cool When I first saw pictures of him, I wasn't very interested, but now I'm considering getting him. I don't know whether to get him now or wait for a possible redeco in ROTF colors. I'll probably just get the black and grey version, though.

I'm on the fence with this guy. I have the ROTF version, and I see his hands alone make it look much better alone with the DOTM version. If he isn't in the movie though, I'm not going to get him.

I do want him, but I have a lot more wants that will be picked up first if at all. I could see getting him and repainting him though.

How does everyone know Crankcase is in the film? I think I've missed something.

Jolt is in RotF so you can justify buying him.

I really want Jolt and Barricade but have no idea when wave 2 will reach England. What wave is Topspin?

I own ROTF electrostatic jolt just for the sake of having a Jolt in my collection and it was on clearence ;D. The DOTM's mechtech is cool... but he's not on my priority pick-up list. Also, the boxy chest in bot mode annoys me

I think he's a fiddly turd with a top-tier weapon. I hate his upper body and how un-tied together it is. The transformation sequence is ok though.

Now that I have DOTM Jolt, I have to say I like the ROTF version better. More screen-accurate (from what I remember, anyway), better feet (DOTM's are too fiddly and look like big camel feet), and better color scheme.

So far Jolt has been my only Dotm buy. I love the figure and colors. As soon as I started to transform him, though, a piece of his chest broke right in half. Had to super glue the little sucker back on. But he looks as good as new now!
