There ya go. Unfortunately, as youve seen there are alot of fans here that seemingly want to argue against hating scalpers while supporting their practice and lining scalper wallets.
I am of the opinion that alot of our very own members induldge in scalper practice. I have even seen pics taken in the "transformer haul" thread of baskets full of the same figures. Who needs four jazz? Having said that I am guilty of reverting to ebay for the majorityn of my collection and since I am caught up on recently released figures I have no chopice but to go back to ebay for the remainder of my collection. I do however have a limit to what I will pay and it is exceedingly lower than most. Somehow, even with a low top dollar, Ive gotten all my figures. I still dont like the idea of anyone taking advantage and charging me EVEN MORE than retail for my passion.
A few fans are trying to start a collectors club where we take care of each other for store price but Ill get back to that.
Anyway I am sorry you are disappointed with fans reactions. I totaly get that you are trying to get these figures into the proper hands for retail and I am with you in being absolutely blown away by responses.
You may as well just get used to it. You have members like burn who are foul mouthed, abrasive and condescending when they have no reason to be. Totaly immature and he is a mod!!
Bionic radical has a thread titled collectors club you should read. I know its a far cry from what you are trying to do here but at least you yourself may benefit from its members.

Im simply trying to get the OP to realize, that while his direction and mission ar commendable it boils down to this. There are more of them than there is of us. It's like trotting out in front of the white house with a list of a few hundered people demanding lower taxes. For the cause I understand but in the act it's frivilous. I have supplied MANY members on this site with figures at cost and almost to a point of taking a loss because I believe people deserve to have the figures they want at a reasonable price.

IMO the best course of action is to take matters into your own hand.. Waving a list in front of a scalper is just going to make them laugh..and hard.. When I see new figures come out, I buy a few and sell them to board members who I know appreciate them..Replying 3 letters wont do as much as taking the fight to them..

If the community here, actually became a community, none of us would have to buy ANYTHING from a scalper.

If we actually helped each other out, especially with the different regions that get more then others. We could all have a better TF world.

We are the reason scalpers exist. Some of you are so damn high on your collecting horses you forget what being a community is all about. I see a lot of smug ass comments about " well I have the money I will buy it" Good for you, you smug ass. Some of us actually care about how much money we dump into a "Hobby".

The main points: Scalpers create a false demand by buying all the supply ( Artificial Demand ). We as a community don't help each other out, whether it's because secretly you want to sell the HTFOMGVHTF item's on eBay, or be smug about being the only one finding (it) at retail. We have too much inner hating as a group to combat scalpers effectively.


as far as pulling BBTS, TFsource and others into this? They own a full size warehouse. They not only create supply, they sometimes allow exclusives that would have normally be KIA. They have Personnel,property, Insurance, Taxes, Fee's, Advertising, Web hosting, Handling, phones, email and marketing to pay for. Of course their prices are going to be the same or higher compared to retail. It makes more sense then some jackass who has a free eBay account and stores it in his mother's basement. ( Stereotypes are fun, but stereotypes for a reason )

Scalping is not illegial.

Buying low & selling high is how the world makes it's money. the following do this: Gasoline companies. wall street stock brokers. banks & loans companies. car companies & used dealers. grocery stores & retail stores. corprations & the list goes on into infinity.......

As members of this sight we are all more than likely collectors of the transformer line. I agree that there would be a slim chance to make a noticable impact on scalper practice without investing a bit of time into it and I cant blame others for not wanting to invest that time but for the life of me I cant understand why so many members dont have a problem with being exploited by scalpers.
They are intentionaly taking product that they know I want to buy so that they can charge me their own price. I take that personal. It is personal.

How about putting your efforts into writing your local store manager asking them to pay more attention to their Transformers stock? I don't blame scalpers or fellow collectors who beat me to it. I blame the stores for carrying the same stock for months at a time.

geez if it wasn't for "scalper prices" i wouldn't have nearly half of my classics collection. Like Burn said if they have it at a decent price then i'll get it.

Seriously, If you get my point, Ive succeded in doing what I set out to do. If you believe my analogy sucks thats your opinion but I would say that a person skulking from store to store buying up figures he knows a select group of people have a great passion for with the sole purpose of jacking up the price to three times their worth is a sneaky, slimy, "legal" yet ass hole of a move. The same would apply to any person making fun of burned children. Is it realy such a stretch?? I dont think so.

Some of us have the money to come up in this "game" and free ride a collection. It's nice to work for that collection by alternative means.

no...its your short sighted mentality of buying whatever from whoever at whatever costs. let me give you an example. facts. everytime a super walmart opens, 1.5 jobs are loss due to downsizing from other companies or just straight closure. walmart is able to supply the LOWEST prices on goods because it pays its employees minimum wage with minimal hours(pretty much poverty level). guess where those ppl working at walmart turn to to make up the rest of the cost of living.....the government. or straight to the point....our hard earn taxes in the form of EBT/welfare. i support the local business that works hard to make a living.

did you know that walmart is also the BIGGEST toychain in the world also.....look at how many toys r us that has closed down due to walmart......being a TF collector....would you rather be shopping at toys r us or walmart? yea thought so.

if you think buying from a scalper has no negative impact....then why are we constantly having new threads about scalpers every week? so no....supply and demand is not killing the economy....but your short sighted mentality of buying from whoever for whatever cost is......
