Nope I never open up my toys in Public. Usually little bits and pieces roll out or you won't have a knife or something to cut something open and you could be left there holding an open Transformer.

Quite often when I buy TFs from the US(I'm in NZ) I'll get the box delivered to my work so it's not sitting on my doorstep all day looking to get pinched.
Well, I open them in the smoko room during lunch and although my co workers don't get what I see in this stuff they do find them interesting, like for example when I got Leader Prime the other week they were all like "Oww! open the big one! - Does he go into a truck?! make him into a truck".
Buy if I've just bought a TF from a store and I'm walking home or am on the bus then I don't open them... too many crazies about

Exactly, just a bad idea. If I really wana pop something open, I'll do it in the car so that I atleast have a chance of finding any piece that falls out.
However, "playing" in public? No , I don't even "play" with them at home. Those days are loooong gone. I musta been like 10, 12 the last time I played with them.

My father's sister told my mother while I was in another room, "Let him continue to buy those, Suzanne. They're part of imagination."
I overheard that and realized that this woman I barely saw growing up got it exactly. It's about imagination and, like you said, what you're passionate about.
I'm now thirty-one years old, happily married with an almost two-year old daughter. I taught her to say "Optimus Prime" and when asked "what does Optimus say?," responds with "Roll out!"
I still buy all sorts of action figures, Transformers, read and collect comic books, watch animated series and go to movies my peers may not be interested in. I don't give two shits about sports and that's all anyone else my age talks about, which is why I'm here.
The point is, my friend, you do what YOU enjoy. Not your friends, not your parents, not your family, no one but YOU. It's not like we're talking crack use, raping, murdering, gambling, stealing, or drinking. We're talking about being YOUNG AT HEART as you said and have a passion for something that is CREATIVE and ARTISTIC and IMAGINATIVE.
Sorry to rant there, but man, when I read your post, I felt your pain.
Go and enjoy your passion and to hell with other people's opinions.
Chris

I dont play with my transformers anymore. I havent since i was like 12 years old. I like opening them up when i get home because i like to be relaxed when i am transforming them and i display them on my shelfs in my room. Its not that i am embaresed because im not. I transformed movie Jazz in my car while my soon to be wife was in kohls shopping for my cousins b-day gift. People where walking by the car but i could care less what they think. All in all i dont play with them but i will open them if im home or out in public but i prefer home, Especially if it comes with parts that can get lost.
