Thinking back on what I really honestly FELT at the time, looking at the reveals of Botcon figures and them hitting the secondary market, I can sum it up as pissed off. Normally, there was always something in any given set that caught my eye, and it just burned my ass how hideously marked up they were. Like, they were expensive enough to begin with, but the eBay prices were monstrous. It was upsetting. And that feeling still crops up from tie to time, but not from HasTak...
The 3P's like to release exclusives these days at Con's, and that's what drummed up these feelings and how I was able to remember them so clearly. Most recently it was that G2 MP Jazz. And the eBay price of that guy made me want to punch someone.
So if HasTak never goes back to that formula, I consider that a win.

Big time, i would straight up ignore Botcon reveals and not even count them as official simply because of how unatainable everything was (i mean, you even needed a paid membership to purchase stuff on their site). I much preffer retailer exclusives. Even if i cant find it locally, its still available for soneone out there who could help me get it. Plus the secondary prices are not as bad.

Yeah, but so was everything else at TRU so it kinda balanced out.

Another, is that these don't require the selling of a kidney to afford (or offered in a set of 5 costing around two kidneys). And I thought the loss of of the little guys would mean our exclusives would also mean loss of the soul, but hey we're getting some pretty obscure dudes. Not to mention Hasbro proper has been dipping into the obscure lately too, just look at Battletrap or the upcoming Micromasters.
What do you think about the current state our exclusives seem to have taken?
I agree!

Movie incarnations of the G1 characters just like (nearly) everyone else in the movies. The Bee Movie taking place in the 1980s seems to have given them some strange exclusives ideas, almost as strange as exclusive Beast Wars dinos in Age of Extinction.

So the Target exclusive Frenzy is not meant to go with the Titans Return Rumble?
Define "meant". Canonically, no, they're from two different toy lines for two different and unrelated franchises. But realistically we know why Hasbro made the figure, they could have just as easily made him silver since it's probably supposed to be the same Frenzy from the first movie (and probably why we got Buzzsaw and Howlback instead of Laserbeak and Ravage).

He's clearly meant to complete what TR started. Trying to physically shoehorn him in to the BB movie is silly because:Emerje wrote:william-james88 wrote:So the Target exclusive Frenzy is not meant to go with the Titans Return Rumble?Emerje wrote:Movie incarnations of the G1 characters just like (nearly) everyone else in the movies. -The BB movie may or may not be connected to the previous films.
-It has no confirmation of SW or Frenzy in it (and if they are, why would they have exclusive figures?)
-Two of the new cassettes are ones we didn't get from TR, one of which was sorely missed.
-And the aesthetic of the TR figures in no way fits with movie designs.

Still a better placement than Cyberverse. It's not like it's never happened before. Look at the Walmart exclusive Deluxes, and the Target exclusive Scouts for the 2007 Movie.
Besides, Soundwave and the cassettes (even the anachronistic TR tablets) are symbolic for the 80's!
