Well Hasbro you had the chance to give us Classics-style Dinobots and you failed.
So FP stepped up. Chrome or not, I am pleased and the look is exactly what I want.

FP Sludge definately looks like a Ultra scaled toy in that comparisons pic with HasTak MP Grimlock.
exactly how many millimetres is it though? that's the only way to be sure!

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Consider your suspicions debunked; daimchoc posted this image on facebook.

Gotta say I'm really disappointed. There's no way Slag should be bigger than Sludge.
At this rate I'm probably going to end up getting one Dinobot from each company in order to achieve my ideal line-up. So far Planet X and (I can't believe I'm saying this) Age of Extinction have the best scaled figures as far as I'm concerned. A pity they're both a little smaller than I'd have liked.

Think those are bad angles of the toys in pics showing different wrong robot height. A Few of the TFCon pics I saw showed Sludge a full head taller than Slag.
Why does this FP Sludge keep changing size in pics? A few days ago FP Sludge was shown to be almost the same robot height as MP Grimlock. Now today FP Sludge is barely a half of a head taller than 1.0 Voyager Optimus that has a 6.5 inch tall robot mode.
Guessing these are all bad angles pics that are making these toys look bigger or smaller.

I'm going to keep it polite and suggest that's wishful thinking, Tsutsukakushi. Unless you think half of the photo was taken from one angle and the other half from further away.
Yeah the photo wasn't taken from a direct-front angle, but the result won't have distorted the fabric of space as we know it. The photo of the two in dinosaur mode earlier in this thread made Slag look bigger than LER-01 as well. Not necessarily in height, but Slag's definitely got the bulk.

Might just end up buying all Four FT MP Dinobots and calling it a day.
Don't need to buy a 5th one, If they do a Grimlock. As the HasTak Grimlock blends in nicely with these toys.
While I think the FP Dinobots are the best Classics dinobots on the block. Think there not G-1 enough in sculpt for me, there more neo-G-1.
Don't see the point in spending $555 for the set of Five FP Dinobots. When I could spend a pinch more. and get what I consider the more perfect, Higher quality, More G-1 accuurate in sculpts $720 set of Four FT MP Dinobots toys instead.

I don't see the point in spending any money on ridiculously huge Dinobots that are out of scale with anything else I have and super expensive to boot. I want toys that I want, not necessarily those which are the best value per ounce/inch.

Those looking for the best value per ounce might want to investigate these:

They're brilliantly engineered. have meticulous sculpts, and convert from standing horizontally to vertically in just .739 seconds!
Best of all, they're the same size as their predecessor G1 bricks!

Meant to type, FT, not FP.
Actually Fanstoys Scoria is not in scale with MP Grimlock. I don't count those stupid moon boots. That's what stopped me from buying Scoria. I use MP Grimlock in dinosaur mode for my classics shelf to replicate the season 1 cartoon where the dinobots were huge. But the moon boots lost my sale sorry Fanstoys. If they had just scaled Scoria and the others to match the height of MP Grimlock I would have been on board. I have no interest in my dinobots scaling properly with an MP Prime that I don't even own. as far as Im concerned, Fansproject saved the day !

Don't even bother to type it, ill type it for you:
"Rated X you have this obsessive OCD with scale and it is very unhealthy. You should show respect for Fanstoys because they are the superior line and are very close to Leader scale at 25 cm which is approximately 10 inches. Leader scale is 12.5 like Hasbro 3oth anniversary Jetfire"

I think for your preferences that FansProject is the better line for you, but I am LOVING my Scoria and am anxious about Swoop in the near future. I'd like to get FP's dinobots as well for Classics (because I collect both MP and Classics), but time and priorities will tell.

I would double dip if it wasnt for the stupid moon boots. Be honest, wouldnt you have rather had them scale with MP Grimlock ? The "add an inch and give grimmy moon boots" concept was just a lame pitch to make everybody will buy their Grimlock down the line. X dont play that lol.

You're right, I would prefer that Scoria was better scaled to the existing MP-08 mold. And even with the moon boots, Grimlock's proportions aren't as generous as Scoria. I guess I'll have to wait it out to see if FT makes their own version of Grimmy, but I'll accept what I have for now.
It's a shame that FP is only doing the chrome on the exclusive version of their figure. I'm NOT about to double dip for that.

I almost bought a chrome version on ebay since I do have a pretty solid diaclone/e hobby shelf. But I changed my mind because I see G2 dinobot repaints down the line to juice the mold. Thats where im gonna double dip. Im calling it, G2 FP dinobots including an orange sludge and blue and green swoop based on the concept art. I will drop a grand on those 5 if they are exclusives without question.

im in the same boat. the chromed one is sickly beautiful. but id really like to know if the rest will follow suit. the normal production one looks pretty good too but id need to see better in hand pics.Gauntlet101010 wrote:I thought long and hard about getting the chrome version the other day. The non chromed version looks really good. Even the flat gold is nice and vibrant.

Oh man, does that mean it is shipping soon?

Also slag does look taller, but his robot head is about the same level, plus Sludge's robot torso does raise similar to Maketoys Mixmaster to give added height, not sure if he is mistransformed in some pics?
