The point is that Hasbro seem to have really come short here by being cheap. A lack of trailer was acceptable, even the idea of a toy-accurate colour sceme was a nice idea. Leaving the figure basically bare with almost no painted details and (seemingly) ditching the chrome is dick, though.

Not everyone can afford the Takara one. People held out on the hope that Hasbro would do the mold some justice - instead it seems like they've gone for too many cheap options. Now I'm looking for a way to conjour up $250+ (nearly $300 in fact, because I'll have to pay import VAT in the UK) for the Takara one - before Takara stop producing it and the price flies through the roof.

Exactly. I would've bought the first release of the Takara toy if I could afford it, but I can't. It's not even about the trailer, I can do without it if need be. I'm happy this is getting released, and with extra bonuses, no less, but I'm sad that the figure itself suffers in detail, especially when the accessories seem to have a lot of paint apps.

That doesn't save the figure, in my opinion. I could have swallowed the stacks being bare plastic if they'd used the light gray instead of the silver\gray

Looks fine to me, but if it lacks a trailer they've got no business calling it Rodimus PRIME.

IMO light grey plastic looks cheaper, so I'm glad they didn't use it.

I have to agree with the general consensus. The toy suffers because of the dark gray plastic. I still might get this for the extras. I like the gun and the Targetmaster.

I hope they have fixed the QC issues with this figure.

yeah i just moved to a new apartment and have been reassembling my tf's out from their storage boxes - reminded me of how megatron is perhaps the least successful of the mp's. The gun mode is good, but the original toy was just as good if not better (wasn't there a version that actually fired pellets?). the robot mode is tall but scrawny - flimsy and too many bits n bobs that fly off too easily - plus transformation is a bit of a bitch. Oh and cosmic rust attacked its feet.

my mp classification so far is Original MP prime, starscream, grimlock, rodimus (based on pics and reviews) and megs...

We're going to have to bite the bullet with Megatron - using the handle of the gun for legs means his legs will be very thin. There's no real way round that. Not unless they do something really ninja with the gun accessories so they become part of the legs.

I'd rather they gave Galvatron a go. There have been so few Galvatron toys that aren't a recolour, its criminal.

I am... actually... surprisingly glad that I waited. The colors look better to me, it LOOKS more structurally stable, and... well... HE HAS A TARGET MASTER! But the name... that sucks...

I agree that it looks cheaper but I think it may mesh better with this figure.

The huge blown up picture that clearly depicts chrome I would assume. It's pretty blatant once you see the large pic.

I agree, but do not let the US Rodimus haters hear you. I do not like the red, but I love the figure all the same. I like how he looks even if he is red (I prefer Magenta). The gun has a whole bunch of paint aps that bring out the detail of the gun. I bet this figure has both Matrics one for posing and the other for 'inside'. Also, the targetmaster does have chrome on him (chrome is not a make or break issue for me. There are pluses and minuses to chrome.) Anyways, I think people are nit-picking him to death. See him in person before you make the final call.

Agreed. I really thought they would do Galvatron next, it seemed so obvious and logical right after Rodimus Prime. But here we go with Convoy again.

guys. silver paint is not chrome.

I kind of dig it, its going to be less than half the price of the Takara version if Grimlock was any indication of price, and I don't mind the coloration.

about the trailer, does anybody really display their MP Rodimus Prime in Space Winnebago mode anyway?

I don't mind the red at all actually. The light grey probably would've done better for sure though. Awesome that they made a Targetmaster for him though. Overall I'm pretty pleased I can get one locally in the States for 70-ish dollars. Really had no desire to pay over 200+ for a figure that I'm only ho-hum about. Couldn't care less about the trailer.

Something that everyone seems to be overlooking is that this is only confirmed for TRU Australia.

Yet to be confirmed for release anywhere else (though i'd be suprised if it wasn't released anywhere else).

Oh and don't ask me to pick one up for you, TRU Australia and Masterpieces do NOT go together price wise.

They do that because they cannot trademark Hot Rod. I am kinda sick of people complaining about this. This is the 'Hot Rod' MP; we all know this. Can we just pretend copyright laws do not exist and make believe this is MP Hot Rod?

Botcon will make the final announcement on the issue (I bet this was going to be the big surprise announcement). I doubt Hasbro will drop the ball on this one with the movie and all coming out. I knew Hasbro was going to capitalize on the movie pushing out another excellent MP that would of not seen release internationally. In fact, I think Seibertron.com reported MP Rodimus Prime being in the computer of the UK TRU as early as January.

While that maybe true... this does have a 'Rodimus Prime' robot mode. If it did not, then I can see your argument. I am sure that some 3rd party guys are going to bootleg the trailer for the US release.

I hope they put a purchase limit on this guy, when Grimlock came out the manager at TRU told me one guy bought all of them. Luckily they restocked him a few weeks later and I got one. `

Funny people b*tching about no trailer when we knew that would be the case long before the Takara one was even released! Want the trailer...buy the Takara version.
