My opinion

It depends what toys you buy.
Transformers toys due to the complexity & high sculpt designs can be enjoyed by people of all ages. I view Transformers toys as works of art.

I buy a Transformers toy,transform them a few times,then place it on a display shelf. the toy stays on the display shelf for years at a time.

When your sight is gone so you can't admire them, your hearing is gone so you can't listen to the shows and discuss them and your hands are too weak to play with them, then I might humbly suggest that there's no point in collecting them.

May none of us reach this stage: may we all die under an avalanche of Transformers. Or from brain explosion induced by too much awesomeness.

NEVER! Simple as that, you are never too old to collect something you enjoy as long as it's within reason and isn't something like a death fetish - like the guy in X-Files who turned to killing people in order to sate his increasing yearnings.

I doubt any Transformers collector would go as far as killing anyone for an addition to the collection though, if they are then wow, take a break.

I would rather collect Transformers than worship sports and zone out to TV every day. Hoping to order three tomorrow.

If you enjoy collecting Transformers, then keep collecting them within your limits.

My wife (of 18 years) has never tried to stop me from my collecting, she says that every man needs a hobby, and it is not hurting anyone.
Both of my daughters (17 and 6) love TF's as well and both have their own to play with too.

I'm 35 and never will forget when i saw Transformer cartoon in the 80's! never i've been so amazing with Transformers back then and even now! Wasn't much into beast wars, or the Japanese versions, but still stayed tried and true with Transformers when i could. I still collect Transformer still to this day, and will never stop, hell toy collecting does keep me out of trouble and i've even started collecting GI Joe again and did have a massive amount of StarWars, but sold some of it cause no room and needed money for more Transformers. Been married for 8 years, no kids (working on it) and she supports me and she likes Transformers just as much as I do.

However old you are minus 1 year is too old for toys.

The important thing to keep in mind is that you need to be exactly what everyone else in your life wants you to be at all times even if those things are in direct competition with each other.

I don't know. I was in TRU the other day and there was a guy rifling through the matchbox cars in a very determined fashion. If he wasn't 70 he was every bit of 65 years old. The answer to the OP's question may be that, if your living, it's ok to collect toys.

Everyone has to have a hobby. Some collect stamps, coins or comic books. Others like tools, tupperware, or shot glasses. We like Transformers. You are never too old for any hobby.

Although as of late Transformers might be one of the most expensive hobbies to partake in. Especially at $12 a pop....

I can only say what almost everyone else has already said. I will stop playing with Transformers when I'm dead. I don't even play with regular toys anymore. I see Transformers as more than toys. They are an art form.

dude i'm 19 and ever since middle school i've been hearing that crap that "i'm too old for toys." my fiancee' loves me for it and she even buys some figs. you're never too old to buy transformers or play with them. not that i do that. :WHISTLE:

I'm 30 and I still collect transformers.I had money problems a couple years ago and had to sell my collecting.Now everything G1 is double the price I sold my transformers for :BANG_HEAD:

and I will never sell my toys.I think if you decide your tired of them put them in boxes up in your closet I did that the animated toys.

There are probably 110-year-olds who still collect wooden soldiers, toy steam trains, and/or dolls.

If we're not limiting it to toys, there are people who collected all kinds of random stuff their whole life. Leaves. Pretty rocks. Photographs. Quotations. Stationery. Pins. Coins. Books. Anything.

I agree. I'm a huge Transformers fan, but never started collecting the toys. I'm almost 30 years old and I only started collecting the toys not so long ago. Who cares what society thinks. If it's what you want and what you like, then pursue it. If it keeps you happy and satisfied, then that's all that matters.

As for me, I used to collect cards. I've got entire collections of Marvel and DC cards from the late 80's to the late 90's. I have no plans on selling them, because they mean that much to me. Just do what makes you happy.

How old is too old?

When you've grown old and died, and the worms are now eating you inside your coffin. That's when you're too old.

Seriously, TFs are the new hobby of today like what die-cast trains were to nerds of yesteryear. And people still collect die-cast trains even today.

So there is no age limit. Enjoy your Transformers, and tell those naysayers "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

The good part is, eventually you get old enough to stop worrying about what other people might think of you for collecting kids' toys, and just say "Screw 'em, these toys are cool."

I mean, come on, you know what old people are like. You could have a rough, tough, grizzled old cowboy who collected Hello Kitty, and if you ever mentioned it he'd just look you straight in the eye and go "Yep." Because screw everyone else, the man was gonna collect Hello Kitty and if anyone had a problem with that it was their problem, not his.

I'm 32. I feel like I'm almost done with TFs mainly cause I have a sinking feeling that Classic-type toys won't be around much longer and I'm sick of Bayverse. Having said that I'll keep collecting as long as G1-Homages are made. Otherwise I'll keep collecting die-cast cars.
