So, how do you think a tabletop based on Transformers would be like? How would you design it? Do you see it as a D&D-style game design, or another mechanic?
Personally, I could see characters being created with a class reminiscent of the WfC character division (Scout, Soldier, Sniper, Scientist, Heavy...) and two classifications to create the "species": one determining the alt-mode(s) and another determining innate abilities (invisibility, superspeed, built-in weaponry...) which could be upgraded by levelling up. The factions could perhaps replace the typical moral alignment (both the basic Autobot/Decepticon and every other subgroup/faction), and the main edition could be based on the war on Cybertron, with later editions and expansions focusing on colony worlds, alien planets and maybe even Earth.
And what about other Hasbro properties; which ones do you think could benefit from the tabletop experience? For me, I've always thought Xevoz had potential for an RPG game: it has plenty of species for the player to build upon (and potential to create even more, even if you never expand beyond the original 8 larger groups), and the xevolution mechanic could work very well as special abilites/attacks and level up benefits.

I would pay good money to have a proper TF RPG. The idea is just so enticing, and if Hasbro doesn't do it, I will!

Last time I checked, the d20 system was open source. Honestly, the biggest issue with making your own would be the Transformers license itself.

As long as you weren't profiting off of it, I can't see Hasbro having any grounds for C&Ding off it to be fair. But yeah, a Transformers TTRPG would be very cool!
I tell you what else I'd like- a Transformers miniatures skirmish wargame. Each character would come as both a robot and alt-mode miniature (for the whole transformation thing), and if the scale was done right you could theoretically have making your own TF quite easy by using miniature cars (Hot Wheels, Tomica etc) as the alt-modes and then kitbashing the robot modes.

Wonder what other properties they're going to make. Power Rangers is already being sold, and GI Joe and MLP are on preorder phase; what else? Micronauts given the upcoming cartoon? Visionaries for the classic fantasy/magic genre with an alien twist? ROM Spaceknight?

I do hope they're compatible between each other. It'd be cool to organize a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover campaign. Or maybe a full Revolution campaign, depending on how many properties they do!
