I wish Hasbro didnt make the Tf figures!!!!!!!!!

Postby Pyramitus » Wed Feb 21, 2007 6:56 pm

I wish that a different company such as Jakks Pacific made the transformers figures. I collect wrestling figures so I know how they operate. They poll their fans and ask them what figures they want made, and then they make them. Im pretty sure that they would continue to produce the classic line. It seems like Hasbro dosnt really care what the fans think.

If Jakks Pacific made Transformers, they'd fight each other with wrestling moves and have no plot whatsoever. The only mistakes Hasbro has made is signing off the movie rights to Michael Bay.

Not so, I remember Aaron Archer saying something along the lines of After the Movie, they'll return, I'd assume Alts too, as we need Hot Rodiums, just wait the movie line out, or do something novel, save money :-?

Well, its a different kinda situation between Wrestling and Transformers. In wrestling, the Characters come before the toys, in Transformers, the Toys come around and then the characters develop in 30 minute commercials on TV.

Granted, lines like the Alternators and the Classics figures build toys based on established characters, but driving lines, those with cartoons, usually start out with seven or so figures that are already designed, created and ready to ship before the cartoon hits the air. When interest starts to sway in the customers, they develop a new charecter with a new toy to keep you buying.

Think about G1 era stuff, those toys were out long before Transformers were anything. Hasbro saw a gimmick that worked and brought it stateside, developing characters in the cartoon as a means of selling the toys they already had.

Still, I appreciate what I think you're getting at here, Hasbro doesn't necessarily listen to the fans as much as other companies. They tend to produce whatever they will knowing that someone will eventually buy it. In a way, that's our fault too.

Many, many years ago I used to collect wrestling figures. Jakks is a big reason why I stopped. At the time they had horrible distribution here in Canada. Sometimes I'd be able to find everything I wanted and other times we wouldn't get a single figure. Things may have changed now, I don't know. I stopped a long, long time ago.

On top of that I emailed them questions about whether I could get some mail away figure in Canada. The mail in paper didn't mention if you could or couldn't. It had some sort of vague thing at the bottom that it might not be available everywhere.

Anyway, they wrote me back with something that made absolutely no sense. They basically must not be able to read or understand english.

They told me that I should go to my local toy store to look for the *exclusive mail only* figure I asked about... and they told me with really sloppy, weird language.

Whatever bad Hasbro does, at the end of the day I do find all their non-exclusive figures here. It's always clear what is available and not available in Canada.

I don't really understand why everybody seems to dislike Hasbro. If the stores in your area ordered more cases, you would have more toys on the shelf. Hasbro can't MAKE them stock their shelves. Sure they may not produce certain items in the quantities some would like, but many times it's hit or miss.
Look at those Big OP with the talking base. Wal-mart is so over run with them from X-mas time, now they have to put them on clearance. Next time there is a big figure the purchaser at wal-mart may not pick as many up for distribution. Now you'll all want it because there are less of them and there won't be enough of them. It's just one big circle.
Stop complaining about a toy company that has more than one toy line to think about. I'm sure they want to give you what you want, but if they put it all out now, what would you have to look forward to? Oh and those wrestling figures are crap.
Who wants a Barry Windham?Really! They do the same thing.
Producing a larger quantity of the junk and less of what you really want. I've never seen the Luke and Butch boxset with commemorative sardine can and real life sweat stink, but I'll
keep looking just like you do for the stuff you want that Hasbro HAS released.

That's what I am doing, saving my money for post movie Alts. and Classics, and if none come out, that money goes towards some MP's or BTAs.

Nice.

with the exeption of aproving movie starscream and megatron, this last year hasbro has done us fans right. the fact is there is a huge demand for alt and classics, hasbro knows this, and knows that can make more money off of it. but while the movie is out, with every other transformers licenced product thats going to be out, it could very well be overkill, and thus lost money, and an end to those lines we want so much.

hasbbro does some stupid stupid things, this is true, but thats because theyre after that ever loving dollar.

now of course, takaras designs and paints are usualy so much better. now if only takara could get a handle on quality controll.

Because. Because it’s the ‘in thing’ to rag and complain over anything that isn’t made/released in Japan .. Like jealousy because they seem to get ‘better’ stuff? I shouldn't leave the question mark because I’m pretty confident that’s the case. All I can say is that if our nation didn’t make petty and frivolous lawsuits as though they were a past-time recreation, hell, maybe we’d have them too.

Rant aside, how old are you? 12? 14? It absolutely amazes me the amount of people who bitch so much about Hasbro and yet have NO idea that had it not been for Hasbro that we would not have had Transformers at all! Takara had a concept yes, but that concept was very Gundam-like; that they wanted the robots to be machinary controlled by human drivers. Hasbro on the other hand wanted & felt strongly that the robots themselves could be the stars and characters with their own personalities and so did away w/ the human controllers all together.

Next time you think to complain do try and think about that.

With that TRU 10th Anniversary Beast wars Gift Set, Hasbro better do something about quality control.

I really on't like the movie toys..and i will admit, Hasbro has taken a step in the right direction these past four years.

Takara is just more show accurate iwth paint, but as far as quality control, hasbro is not as good as Takara.

I got the toys to prove it.

Well Hasbro ideas was not for you to have toys, it was for you to spend money.

Wow, just because Hasbro came up a plot about robots who can think for themselves...umm it was done long before them dude.

Just how old are you??

Even if they left them to be controlled by humans, the toys still would have sold.

I remember owning Diaclone toys when TF first arrived on the scene, such as Reflector and Laserbeak. Too bad I didn't realize they would be worth some money now.

All habro did was make a cartoon as a marketing too to sell toys...later on the cartoon went all on it's own, but as I recall, Transformers was only supposed to be a three part series.

So give the guy a break...it seems he doesn't realize there truly will never be another company that will make TF's but hasbro, and personally I'm glad it's them. To me it's their brand, and their's to make alone.

I disagree w/ that part. But that’s a whole other argument and has nothing to do with this me thinks.

Friend, there isn’t a company no how, no way, no where that is not out for profit! Whether it’s Hasbro, Jakks, Mattel, Takara, .. They all want to be successful and to have a product that you’re going to want to lay money down on. ...Every single last one of them. That’s business, that’s just the way it is: Create a product, generate interest for it, you go and buy it. I do it everyday. I work in a company just like that.

In closing, I never said that Hasbro came up a plot about robots who can think for themselves. I said that they pushed the idea about ‘The Transformers’ thinking for themselves. To which I am eternally grateful.

Why should Hasbro care about the fans? TF Fans make a tiny minority of buyers for Transformers, the real money comes from harassed parents.

Personally I think that the fans in recent years have had a lot to thank Hasbro for. Gen 1 re-issues, the Alternator line and now the Classics.

If it wasn't for Hasbro I wouldn't be part of this community.

If we combined our powers, aside from creating some super-powered entity like Captain Planet, we could reprogram just about every noob on Earth in a matter of hours.

Oh, what a world it would be!

Todd Mcfarlen should make Transformer toys. They would be cheap and extreamly detailed. I think MCfarlen makes and has made the best looking toys since Spawn first came out.

And fragile, non-poseable statues. And only carried in specialty and comic book stores that charge a premium for each one. And chock-full of shortpacked figures. And with various repaints within the same year of the original's release. Do I have to go on? I don't really want to. Please don't make me, I'll be a good boy, I swear.

Maybe the makers of the Baby Einstein toys could make Transformers toys. I don't ever hear the babies complaining of the selection of toys and they seem happy on the web page.

If you thought the amount of repaints that we get in the Tranformers line is bad now, what do you think Jakks would do? Optimus Prime would be in every single set, ala Rey Mysterio, and it would take years before we finally got the near perfect version of any of the Transformers. There would also be nowhere near as much detail put into the figures. Now don't get me wrong, I love collecting wrestling figures, but I believe that Hasbro has done just as good as Jakks has with wrestling figs.

I guess you havet been collecting Mcfarlen toys since the first line came out like i have. The Alien and Predator toys that came out a few years ago were articulated, detailed and not fragile. As were the first 4-5 figure lines. They were detailed and built well. Just in the past few years Mcfarlen made the none moveing figures. And besides he's makeing regular figs now. And so your telling me that Hasbros crap isnt Fragile? Mcfarlens figs are solid plastic. Unlike hasbros hollow figures. Mcfarlen would do a much better job then Hasbro. Hell kenner would do a better job. It sucks that Habro bought them out.

I disagree. The Hasbro TF team does nothing BUT listen to the fans. TF collectors have no idea how lucky they are the Hasbro puts so much effort into pleasing the fanbase. If Hasbro didn't listen to fans, we would not have gotten Classics in the first place. And we would not have gotten half of the great figures of characters that fans WANT to see over and over again. Do you think Hasbro would have made a WW Prime and Fallen figure if it wasn't for us? What 10 year old kid is going to buy a die-cast metal, 30$ figure of a character exclusive to a more adult-oriented comic book series?

If Hasbro had a poll on their website allowing fans to vote on which characters they wanted made into toys, we would be left with the same characters and toys we have now.

"wah wah they should make more realistic car TF" ... *cue Alternators*

"wah wah they should bring back die-cast metal" ... *cue Titaniums*

"wah wah they should update all the old G1 guys" ... *cue Classics*

"wah wah they should make a giant transformable Unicron toy" ... *cue Armada Unicron*

"wah wah they should make a WW Fallen figure" ... *cue Titanium Fallen figure*

"wah wah they should make Megatron a gun again" ... *cue Classics Megatron*

"wah wah they should bring back combiners" ... *cue Energon combiners*

"wah wah they should repaint C-Hotshot into Hot Rod" ... *cue Excellion*

"wah wah they should repaint - insert construction-vehicle TF here - into green and give him a Constructicon name" ... *cue every construction-vehicle TF that has been repainted into Constructicon neon-green*

"wah wah they should repaint Cybertron Hardtop into Swindle" ... *cue Cybertron Swindle*

"wah wah they should repaint E-Cliffjumper into Beachcomber" ... *cue E-Beachcomber*

*wah wah they should make the predacon decal on the 10th anniversary Waspinator smaller"... *cue smaller logo on 10th anni. Waspinator*

and so on... I can think of 50 more examples of the TF fandom actually getting what they want.

So next time anyone wants to complain about Hasbro making the TF toys, go pick up a Power Rangers Bandai figure or those cheap teeny-weeny Star Wars figures that can't even stand up and compare them in terms or plastic quality, playability, poseability, paint detail, gimmicks, character description among others. Transformers are head and shoulders above any other toy line.
