Guardians 3 needs a new director now as Disney have fired James Gunn over tweets made 10 years ago...the extreme right and the left of politics have soured everything it seems and hypocrisy is hanging over head.

What the ****? Seriously? Is society THAT **** sensitive that we now judge people on stuff they said a decade ago? Are people not entitled to a chance to change?

Not only that, the Guardians movies worked so well because of his influence. Stupid stupid move.

I agree, and it's just bonkers where we are now. No one is allowed a second chance now

America. Land of the "free" indeed. Don't you know free speech only counts if it's positive for everyone?

Doesn't China censor its people in a similar manner?

They're much worse, but at least you know it's coming.

Western society? Yeah, all you have to do is look at someone and they're suddenly offended and the PC Police are after you. What pisses me off the most about this situation is Gunn came out in support of someone, those who were attacking the bloke didn't like that so they went after Gunn and trolled through 10 years of tweets to dig up stuff that has now cost him his job.

How many of us said and did stupid stuff in our younger days? Hell, most of us do still do and say stupid stuff but we're a little more mature about it.

nah, this is seriously **** up.

Okay, first let me make this clear: I think his comments regarding rape were despicable. I'm not sure what the point he was trying to make, but his comments were **** up. He definitely deserves punishment for it.

But.

Why didn't Disney/Marvel's PR or HR department do their due diligence in backgrounding him before hiring him for the first GotG? I mean, the tweets were public, it's not like they had to dig for them. Also, like you said, it was over 7 years ago. People change in that time. I think Disney is just playing it safe (i.e. gutless) to appease the liberal climate in Hollywood. It's sad, really.

This is true, and if I came across like I was supporting, and even agreeing with them, I definitely wasn't.

They probably did do their due diligence but went "well this is in the past" and moved on.

Then it was brought to the attention of the public so they reacted in the only possible way they could react to save face.

The first GotG came out in August 2014. That means it most likely started preproduction in late 2012, which means Gunn probably signed on in the summer of 2012. The last of the offending tweets were supposedly from 2011. That's not far back. So Marvel dropped the ball.

Also, considering the elapsed time, and the fact that he wasn't employed by Marvel at the time of the tweets, I think he should have been given a couple of options as far as punishment. Maybe donate his salary from GotG3 to a rape victims' fund or something. I just think going to the most extreme punishment short of criminal prosecution was a bit of an overreaction, and considering both Gunn's and the movies' popularity, this may backfire on Disney after the initial outrage has settled down.

I echo what your all saying, and we'll have to see if they can find someone to give the third film the required energy and direction.

Social media will destroy us all. It has already changed how we interact with each other at a fundamental level, and its not for the better.

Gunn had addressed his comments, and apologized for them, in the past. This was a done deal, until some actual poopy people dug up dirt on Gunn for having the nerve to defend somebody they were attacking.

basically, we should all quit our jobs right now, because not one single person over 12 years old, on this entire **** planet, has never said something that was drastically offensive or wrong.

The whole James Gunn thing is a depressingly bad situation. 10 year old tweets dug up because some guys didn't like what he was saying. And he got fired. Immediately.

While I do not defend what he said, a lot of people go though the stage of terrible tasting jokes, but we move on and we learn and grow.

What Disney did, to me at least, was very wrong and spineless. They won't stand up for their guy, they dropped him at the first sight of trouble. That isn't fair or good or honorable.

Honestly, if we can have people in the media outlets or in our own governments who can say stuff just as bad as Gunn did 10 years ago and still go on like nothing is or has happened, and then Gunn gets this treatment, that's poopy.

He was the victim of a witch hunt, pure and simple. And it is gonna cost Disney and Marvel big for their rash move.

Marvel will suffer for the rash move but marvel isn't in a position to bite the hand that feeds just really had no choice but to follow disneys orders.

End of the day, Disney figures this will be better for business then simply trying to weather the storm. I hate the choice too but from their prospective, it's sadly logical >:oP

Although following this, I hole a few British comedians don't try to break into the US...as their material is highly risky...

So it's all sorted now? Last I heard was some fox shareholders were trying to stop it because they felt some elements had been undervalued

So there's a chance, however slim, that we might see the original Secret Wars on the big screen in the future. Perhaps once the Avengers have worn out their welcome on their own.

Also, I have yet to see Ant-Man 2, and I didn't see Infinity War. I was told I had to watch Infinity War before seeing Ant-Man 2. Is that really necessary to understand the story in Ant-Man 2?

It's really so you don't spoil the ending of Infinity War for yourself, unless you already have, in which case I wouldn't worry about it. Ant Man 2 is set before infinity war anyway.

In other news:

The guardians 3 cast are trying to get James Gunn reinstated as director, how well that works we'll see. Though it's a win-win for his detractors in any case.

Also heard rumours that infinity war part deux (or whatever they are calling Avengers 4) maybe be getting a release a bit sooner, though it'll still be after the captain marvel movie.

I wonder why they are thinking of pushing it up. It's not like they have any other movie to compete against. I think X-Men Dark Phoenix is gonna flop and I'm not that enthusiastic to see it knowing the whole timeline is gonna get scrapped after that film, save Deadpool and X-Force.

As for Guardians 3, you don't have to agree with James Gunn's politics but I still think outing ten year old tweets that were meant as a joke was a real dick move meant nothing more than to satisfy Cernovich's ego. I agree he should be reinstated and after his contract is up, then Disney sever all ties with him. THE Last thing we need is someone like Rian Johnson being trusted with these characters. If they don't reinstate him, then at last bring in the Russo Brothers or John Favreau.

Nobody should be judged for something they said ten years ago unless it was THAT bad. Gunns jokes are nothing more than in poor taste. i don't agree with them and Gunn has not bothered to defend them, nor has the cast. It's stuff like this that is ultimately going to do Twitter in because people will stop using the medium if ten-year-old tweets are going to be used by immature people to ruin their lives. It just happened to a kid on the Atlanta Braves who almost pitched a no-hitter and what should have been the best day of his life was ruined by some punk behind a computer screen for stuff he said in High School when he was a young and dumb kid.The guy has clearly done some growing up since his High School days and the Braves did the right thing standing with him and dealing with it so it will go away quickly.

See, I seem to recall it being Mac Gargan that was the psychotic person eater. Brock ate brains once by accident and threatened organ eating many times if I remember right. Gargan's Venom full on ate people.

I know this is about a month late, but I finally got to see Ant-Man and the Wasp. It was a lot of fun, and a good way to get back to the MCU. I got burned out on the Marvel movies, the last film I saw was Thor: Ragnarok. I missed out on Spider-Man: Homecoming, black panther and Avengers: Infinity War. While I have no intention of ever seeing black panther, I'll probably catch the other 2 by the time their sequels come out.

Agreed. At the bare minimum, its worth the price of a Redbox rental.

So, I finally saw Avengers Infinity War, and brother, it was amaze balls. I really loved this film despite the rather rushed feel to it. Some random thoughts in no particular order:

Thor can make an entrance.

Banner is the fanboy in all of us.

Captain America is every inch a king along side T'challa.

Stark and Strange together was magical. ;) :-D

Spider-man continues to be awesome in all he does. "magic" "more magic" "magic with a kick"

Even though I read spoilers, and knew how it ended, I still thought they had a chance at the end, and I still felt Peters last words in my soul.

Who **** up more, really? Quill for going apeshit on Thanos face, or Thor for not aiming for the damn head?

Batista deserves a Goddamn oscar for the role of Draxx.

Groot needs his mouth washed out.

"I'm gonna get that arm"

"you are a dude, this is a man"

I hate that the Nova corp died off screen.

Thanos was legit.

Loki lives.
