Re: More New Wal-Mart Excl "Allspark Power" Figures!
What?...is it really that difficult for Hasbro to come up with new molds for the new movie line? I mean why even bother with All Spark? I guess its got to be really difficult and time consuming for them to come up with new things. I don't know, it just seems so lame!! Hey, let's just bust out these these ones sitting in our warehouse, throw some paint on them and sell them in the movie line. Where's the respect for each line?
My question is, does Hasbro need to do this to run a smooth business? (clear left over stock)
or
Are they simply being lazy/trying to make a quick buck?
In the future wouldn't it be great to look back and say, yeah those transformer toys were for the movie line only!! Things are simply getting too messy for my one minded, anal, completionest ass.

I don't know why you're complaining if you're a completionest, seeing as this isn't exactly the first time there's been remolds and retools of toys from previous lines into lines of the present.
My word of advice: Get used to it.

They couldn’t have made a new mold instead, these repaints cost Hasbro nothing besides the paint to put on them. Making a steel cut mold for a toy is actually rather expensive and sense there are people like me who would buy repaints are out there, they can make a little more profit to a: pay they’re employees and b: provide us with better figures using the extra profit.

Ahh repaints of Cybertron figures. Pretty good line, nice enough gimmicks.
Divebomb could be an interesting Hooligan homage
http://www.tfu.info/1995/Decepticon/Hoo ... oligan.htm
Big daddy is a very obvious and actually well executed homage to non other than G1 Micromaster Big Daddy
http://www.tfu.info/1990/Autobot/BigDaddy/bigdaddy.htm
Grindcore is most likely a homage to Roadblock.
http://www.tfu.info/1995/Decepticon/Roa ... dblock.htm
Jolt is a pretty god homage to G2 Jolt.
http://www.tfu.info/1994/Decepticon/Jolt/jolt.htm
All in all I'll surely pick up BigDaddy. the color scheme, the homage, the mold. just 100% the best repaint I've seen in a while. Also his Cyberkey slot, is one of th few that can be hidden, and doesn't get in the way of anything. so you can just as easily throw the key a away, and never use the gimmick, and he'd still be a fine figure.
I might pick up Jolt cause i like the purple and silver but the mold isn't that good, and I already have Crosswise.
Divebomb, hmm, unless you plan on displaying him in Jet mode only, I'd stay away from it. The robot mode isn't good, and that big weapon arm just gets in the way too much, and doesn't really stay in place, so it hard to pose him. I'm sure to pass on that one even though the color scheme is pretty interesting.
Grindcore, just for the name its worth buying him, and since I missed Landmine the first time around, i might just pick him up.
I Wonder if they'll repaint Hot Shot and Dirt Boss, I'd like another repaint of those molds.

Re: More New Wal-Mart Excl "Allspark Power" Figures!
I'd say given the high demand & shortages, they're most likely trying their best to get Transformers stock back on the shelves no matter how they do it...& so long as the demand is there, people will buy it. If nothing else, empty shelves p*ss off retailers. They're having to keep shelf space empty for Transformers that could be filled with other brands of toys that are making more profit just by keeping up with their demand. As a TF fan, wouldn't you like to see that space filled with more TF merchandise instead of being pushed aside to make room for the more plentiful Power Ranger stuff? That would just lessen the chances of you getting the TFs you want.Nekoman wrote:skyblast wrote:What?...is it really that difficult for Hasbro to come up with new molds for the new movie line? its interesting how three of these molds were sold as the black-friday 2-packs
if i had known that they were going to re-re-release them, i would have held off. oh well. another TF, another (few) dollars.

Thanks, Tweezy

Stinks how that works, eh?
It almost makes you want to wait 1 year+ after a figure is released, just to see if the inevitable repaint will be better than the original.
Coincidentally, I had a feeling I should avoid the Black Friday hordes to get a Cybertron Downshift and it seems my intuition has served me well. Big Daddy looks pretty sweet and I wouldn't mind the bulldozer fellow, either.

They all look good except Divebomb, that Thundercracker mold is horrible, and those ugly colours don't do anything to make it more appealing.
Big Daddy is the best and most original of the bunch! Such a great idea!
I couldn't agree with you more. Cyb. Thundercracker/Skywarp has to be one of the worst molds in the history of TF's. Their bot mode pictures in the product catalog sheets look damn fine! Then, you get him ... transform, try to like it, fail ... give it to your nephew (in my case).
Big Daddy, such a great mold. Downshifts colors were terrible ... these are better.
Crosswise, I do have Smokescreen repaint. Gonna be tough to steal my love from it, but hey ... another great mold with a decent transformation.
LANDMINE repaint!!! I've been trying to find Landmine, now I get a crack at retail prices. Thanks Hasro!

Re: More New Wal-Mart Excl "Allspark Power" Figures!
Hey thanks for calming me down fellow seiberton members. I think now I have a better understanding as to why Hasbro does what it does....maximize its profit for what already been produced. Thus giving people a chance to buy TFs they missed out on. Also what made a lot of sense (someone mentioned) is Hasbro keeping up with supply and demand. Better repaints than power rangers and spidierman in the TF section.
Still what's bothering me is that someone also mentioned to get used to it...like this is common? When has Hasbro done this in the past? Jumped a mold form one line to the next? I know that repaints and molds have switched around within a line but when has a mold changed lines... like we are seeing with Cybertron Grindcore in the movie line?
I know in dollar stores packaging has been weird? Cybertron TF in Universe packaging right? Besides this though...
So far hasn't
Universe always been Universe?
Armada always been Armada?
Cybertron always been Cybertron?
Classics always been Classics?
etc.?
Guys I could be totally wrong here as I am relatively new to collecting TF. Imagine a Classic mold in the movie line? I guess I'm a little shocked to see molds jumping lines? This has happened before right? Examples please. If this is how it is then I fully accept it. It just caught me off guard. Thanks
EDIT:
Black Friday 2-packs went from Cybertron to Universe right?
*Also we are not talking commemorative or reissues*

As a matter of fact it has happened before, actually through out many lines.
hey it happened way back in G2. they used repainted G1 molds.
Of course if you want something more recent.
Lets see there's Armada Deluxe Prime repainted for the Cybertron Line.
There were 4 or 5 Beastwars Transmetals repainted for the Armada Line. Cheetor, Rhinox, Airrazor etc...
Energon saw quite a few Armada Figures repainted. Tidalwave, Demolishor.
Cybertron saw its fair share of Energon repaints. i.e. Skorponok
Heck one of the more famous repaints from another line was R.I.D Scourge. a black repaint of G2 Laser Optimus Prime.
Repainting figures from an old line to release into a new one is more common than you know. I really don't mind as you can get really cool repaints. The Scourge repaint being a prime example of this.
So yeah get used to it, its gonna happen a lot.

You're Welcome.skyblast wrote:Thanks Overcracker!! Learned something new today.
TFU.inf0 is a god source for this. If you want to know if a mold ever got repainted or released again.
Take this one for example:
http://www.tfu.info/2002/Autobot/SuperC ... sprime.htm
Scroll down, and you'll see at the bottom, the recolors the mold had and in which lines they were released.
This guy was recolored for the Universe line as Ultra Magnus.
Before being recolored for the Cybertron Line
Unfortunately tfu.info is a little slow in updating, So some of the newer things aren't there yet.
