Weapon: Battle Blades
I would pay that for certain existing rare figures or gift sets, but for anything yet to be made? Nuh uh. No way.

MIB G1 Starsabre - $250. Biggest waste of money in my life - sold it for £75 (about $140 at the time)

Everything else in my collection, including stuff like E-Hobby Sunstorm (brand new, 1st release) were under £50.

i've paid over that for a figure, but it was a rare one, not a normal retail figure.

It's an interesting question, what would a $1000 retail figure be?

I've seen the garage kit company, Studio-Half-Eye, make fairly small plastic figures that go for well north of $600, and these were not that big and they were actually fragile. I've seen anther company make 12" figures from diecast that were non-transformable, but extremely articulated and detailed that were in the high hundreds range. And I've seen one company make a figure (max-gokan), that was basially a 3 foot tall solid metal statue for over $1,000. All these examples were for Super Robot figures (Go Nagai stuff).

So for me, I wouldn't get the statue, and the non trasforming detailed ones I felt were kind of boring. Now I like the studio halfeye stuff, but it is too fragile. So for something over $1000, it would have to be fairly big (15" and up), solid diecast, not fragile, and be able t pull of an awesome transformation...but I still can't see something that does that go for $1000. So in my opinion, if there was a $1000 transformer from say Hasbro, it would be like one of those ride on dinosaur robots like they got for kids and not really an adult figure, so I wouldn't buy it.

Edit: I just thought what I would pay $1000 for, either an MP City bot, or an MP combiner like Devestator. MP Devestator would be amwesome.

$1000?
Never.

The most I have ever paid for a figure is $50 (plus tax) for the Walmart Masterpiece Starscream.
It was an alright deal, I guess, though I wish I had the courage to mod his legs.

I have figures that were more expensive (e.g., 20th DVD Prime, Cybertron Primus), but which I snagged for far less.
I'm just a bit wary of paying a lot for figures now that my collection has grown.
I mean, I have a nice variety of figures, so I've got something for all my plasticrack cravings, and there's very few figures that absolutely scream "Buy me" now.

How much would I pay?
Depends on the figure.
If I had the money now, I'd probably get an MP Megatron.
If I have the money when he's released, I intend to get an MP Grimlock.
So - with the cash available - I'd be willing to pay up to around $150 for a really superb figure (think Masterpieces, here).
But other than that, I limit myself to $20 or $30.
It makes me have to wait longer for no-longer-in-retail figures, but it's possible - as a $20 20th Anniversary Prime will attest.

I bought MP Prime, Megatron, and Skywarp. Each was $100. I haven't come across anything else (yet) that makes me say "I need that" to warrant that kind of money.

Weapon: Diffraction Sword
Most expensive figure in my collection is probably Fort Max. Or my opened-but-returned-to-box G1 Megatron. Or the Shattered Glass set.

Would I pay $1000 for a figure? It's possible, if the figure was truly worth it, and I really really wanted it, and could actually afford it, which right now I could not.

My MP Starscream cost me £100 (US$150 at current rates), with my MP Skywarp and pre-ordered Thundercracker coming in just under that.

I'm expecting to pay more than that for MP Grimlock, and I'm hoping to get an MP-04 at some point, which I'm expecting to set me back a fair amount.

If I had it to spend, I'd pay the silly amounts being asked for a Fortress Maximus, just so I could say I owned it :) Shame I don't have it to spend :(

i paid 375 for the botcon thrust figure. was it worth it? prob not but i love the seekers and i dont care if it was rare or hard to get or not, i dont collect a LOT of tf's so i figured it wasnt too big of purchase :) ive spent about 600 total on the botcon seekers and i dont mind it too much to have thrust and dirge, never was a thundercracker fan but i dont mind him either :)

G1 reissue Megatron is most exepensive individual TF. Waited 19 years to get him and he was 110euros. Was just getting back into collecting after a decade and felt so guilty at the thought of spending that much money on a toy. Actually rang my brother to see what he thought and he was like, you're 26. It's your money.

That made me feel better and I bought him, he's the pride of my 800 strong collection along with my other most expensive piece, oversized KO Bruticus, the best combiner ever which I got 2 years later for 150euros. Technically he's 5 transformers but definitely the most expensive TF purchase I've made.

The most expensice single figure I have bought would be MP-04. I paid a little over $250.00 for him. Followed by the recent Ehobby Omega Sentinel which was $215.00. I paid $510.00 for a complete set of Alternators. Would I pay $1000.00 retail for a new figure? Sure if it appealed to me. As someone else posted maybe a MP Devastator.

This is actually a pretty good question. I assume you are referencing a 1000 dollar retal figure, as opposed to getting a bargain on a Lucky Draw for a grand.

I believe I would drop that much. It would have to be something crazy though. Like someone else pointed out, an MP Devastator if he was about 3 or 4 times the size of MP-04 and produced in limited numbers, like sub 500 would definately be a must buy for 1000, for me. I acutally think the pre-order for that sucker would sell out in a matter of hours.

To date, the most I ever paid for a TF was $90 for MP-03. And even if I had the dosh to spare, I SERIOUSLY doubt I'd pay $1000 for a TF. Unless it was a working golf cart or something, or was a working menial robot of some kind...
