Postby Bonger » Tue May 15, 2007 12:48 am

I really don't want to fork out 270 bucks. However, how can I pass up a MIB Brav Maximus for 270 shipped??

I more than half hope I get outbid. :-s

Edit 2 min later: Crap crap I'm still winning. /panic!!

Edit 43 seconds later: OH damn, how the hell am I going to hide this monstrosity from my GF? She KNOWS that Maximus is big bucks.

On a brighter note, woohoo, I've wanted one of these MIB for a while now. Just wasn't ready to take the plunge just yet.

You could always sell it. Hell, you'd probably get more for it if you did.

LOL, thats what I keep telling myself. If I hadn't been spending on TFs like a mad man the last month, I would totally not be flipping. However, I have been very bad the last 6 weeks. This is just the icing on the cake.

I dread my gf's reaction, lol. I have the perfect excuse though. My mom gave me 500 for my Bday last month. One MP-04, one MP-03 and this baby. My moms bday present to me!

Now hopefully the gf buys that, lol.

I hear that, man. Over the last 45 days or so, I have bought a Predaking reissue, a vintage (takara) boxed set of original Predacons, a Takara Abominus giftset, 2 MP-02 figures, an MP-03, a Hasbro Defensor giftset, an MIB Hot Rodimus, an MIB Rodimus Convoy, 2 Kiss Play Hot Rodimus', THS 01 and 02, a Japanese BW Clear Convoy, 3 Binaltech Skids, a couple of Binaltech Hounds and Streaks, an MP Megatron, 2 reissue Perceptors, a reissue Kup, a G2 Grimock, and a set of BW reissues (for Ryan's galleries).

Still can't find a Grand Maximus, though.

Smooth you make me feel better. I've been pretty bad but am under a thousand for the last 6 weeks. You however, just might be a wee bit over, lol.

This might turn out to work out financially.

So far, I have slacked on investing, retirement and all that Jazz.

All I do is contribute my 6%, (to get the full 3% match), to my 401k. Right after college, I got the cash for a downpayment and have that money set to the side.

However, besides that 401k, I haven't done anything for retirment and manage to find some way of pissing away as much cash as I can.

So, I have decided to punish myself by starting up a Roth IRA and throwing like 300 into it every month. That will teach me to waste money!!!!!

Well, unless anyone has a better idea of what to put 300 a month into.

P.S. The 300 is not arbitrary. Thats what I totaled on abay tonight. So I figure, I must have atleast that much extra. So BOOM, I've been punished. :(

Tell her it's a reissue, and cheaper. If she doesn't buy it, show her some Fort Max's on ebay. Then tell her it was only like 100 bucks.

Thanks, how could I resist? I always see him going for 300-350. 228.50 seemed like such a bargain. Plus, after the movie, if prices shoot up, I may be quite thrilled at this "bargain" price.

I wonder if I bought it from someone on this board. The auction did say that the owner picked it up at Botcon for $350 and hat to sell as he is having a kid.

Ironic how many people have to sell toys when they have kids.

Oh and I forgot to mention. The guy selling it is including a rifle from Fortress Maximus and a couple of RID minis. The rifle is a really nice bonus.

Just so you know, that's the Sonokong (Korean) version. The quality and figure are the same. The only notable difference is the faction symbol is upside down in city mode. About two years back I got the Takara verion MIB and complete at a steal for $135 or so. I can't justify the money you spent for yours but I don't have to. If it makes you happy and you have it to spare, all the power to you brother.

Yes, The seller did point out that this was the Korean version. I am fine with that though as he won't be staying in the box for very long, and as you said, is virtually indistinguishable from Takar's release.

130 for Brave Maximus is indeed a wonderful price. However, prices on ebay seem to be steadily climbing. I don't think it is too likely to bump into one these days for that price.

Now I need to stop thinking about getting a Grand or Fortress Maximus for atleast a few months, lol.

I'm responding to your PM here so that others might see it. As far as Cog goes, I'm certain a Fort Max version works just fine since it's a vehicle/component figure that doesn't need to attach to anything and Brave Max is the same mold and what not. To the best of my knowledge there was no remolding done. Unfortunately, Transrepro is down for the count and has been since March of last year. I too would have liked to buy some extra bits for Brave Max too. He's fine without guns since he's got all the flip out ones but still..... it'd be a nice option.

Luckily I am geting one rifle with mine. What do those go for on ebay these days? Like 50 I think...insane.

But absolutely agreed. A repro Sword and the cog would really complete this figure.

If that's true then the $270 pricetag seems somewhat justified.

Yes, that was part of the reason I really wanted this one as Maximus definately needs a suitable gun to grip, and rip come con ass with. ;-)

Also, I havent seen eith the Takara or Sonokong version on ebay for under 300, forget adding shipping. So 228 seemed pretty good to me.

He also included a couple of RID minis for what its worth.

Still, I always have issues spending over 100 on a TF.

Now you know what I NEED. I can't believe I am sayuing this while still suffering from buyers remorse. However, I think Brave Maximus needs a Scorponok to battle against. :P

Heh, speaking of crazyness, check this auction out. 8)

Man if I ever won the lottery....

Dude, compared to what I bought mine for, you stole that thing. Seriously, you don't want to know what I bought mine for. Talk about buyers remorse, I'm still remorsing and its been years since I bought it.

(just kidding, I love my Maximus - but damn)

Yeah, seriously dude. You got that for a steal. Try to focus on that awesome price and it might make you feel better about capping your spending binge with this. :D

Besides, lucky bastard, I'd love to get that figure. :-(

Geez, that sword is more than you paid for the whole figure. I say you got a decent price for Brave. I refuse to go over £70 for a tf. For any tf (unless it's only a little over and the figure is REALLY worth it). The Maximusses are a nice mold. Congrats and good luck smuggling it past your gf. 8)

The great thing about being single is I only have to answer to myself. And frankly I think anyone that would let their GF control their spending is a fool. Better to just have very close female friends than a Girlfriend anyway.

Very nice purchase though. If you're really worried about the GF just tell her is is an investment that will only increase in value over time. Certainly isn't likely to drop in value. Unless you destroy it.

Um... Brave Maximus was a RID repaint of G1 Fortress Maximus... At least in the cartoon anyway I don't remember ever seeing a toy of him.

I spend $750 for a G1 Fort Max complete MIB 6 months ago on ebay. That's the most I've ever spend on one toy let alone a Transformer.
