Opinions on Leader class or Voyager class Movie Prime/Megatron?
- Weapon: Double-Barreled Assault Missile Launcher
I want to get Movie Optimus Prime and Megatron in the same class, but I am not sure which versions to get, Leader or Voyager. I've heard bad things about both versions. Any recommendations would help.

I'm pretty simple. I like the biggest I can get. That's mainly how I decided.
Other factors were i didn't care much for voyager primes backpack, voyager megatrons coloring and ice, fingers.
Of course, leader class have their own issues. Prime has hanging leggings, megatron has crappy color, crappy fingers again.

I would say get Leader Prime and Leader Megs. I don't see any redeeming points with Voyager MEgs, and at least LEader Megs is big and intimidating. Custom painting it a little bit will personalize your Megs and make him special to you, which is what I did. Whereas with Voyager Megs to need to get over that disgusting fake ice.

You cant win with either size class's Megatron figures.
There is nothing really wrong with Voyager Prime, but neither does anything really stand out on him either.
At least with the Voyagers you aren't paying as much for figures that aren't spectacular.

Go with the leaders. Voyager Megs is just horrible! Leader is just okay, nothing special ... but he's half decent.
Voyager prime would be perfect if he didn't have the back pack issue, of course.
Both megatrons have terrible poseability, too. Leader is a little better in this dept. though.
Anyway, Leaders get my vote. Prime is awesome! Even though his legs are a bit bulky ... he freakin rules!

I would say leader class.
1. the alt modes are movie accurate
2. they are the largest, prime is supposed to be bigger than most of his team, ditto for megs
3. no toy is perfect, but the leader class are more complex to transform, meaning you will get the hang of it, and it's just more interesting.
As for voyager primes backpack, it basically the front of the semi truck, leader classes have better transformations that dont leave solid parts like that.

Leader class.
For Prime anyway, there's a reason he costs twice as much. Cuz he's worth it for the that huge awesomeness.

I just got the Leader Prime, and he's totally on par as my favourite Optimus along with Cybertron Prime IMHO. As for Megatron... (Silver Galvatron slicing Megatron in half then firing rotary explosives towards remains. Extremely loud earth shattering explosions continues, still...)

I'll sell you my loose complete Voyager Megatron for $20 shipped if you're interested.
I got Leader Prime (who is damn near perfect in scale with Ironhide and 08 BB), and I'm wanting to upgrade to a Leader Megs....not because I think the Voyager one sux, but just for the sake of scale.

I think he is one of the best TF figures in a long time, and easily the most well-engineered, playable and poseable Prime in recent years.
Really, they coudn't have improved on this mold! It's perfect!

Hmm, what about Cybertron Optimus Prime? Just playing devil's advocate.
I have Leader Prime too and love him, he's the only Leader Class Prime I have. I'm a bit hesitant on saying he is the most well-engineered and playable. But then again, I love my customized Leader Megs too

Get BOTH Leader and Voyager Prime. Don't listen to those dissin' Voyager Prime. He is more movie accurate in terms of his sleder body, and has a cool transformation. Both are very posable, but Voyager Prime looks better since he doesn't have the bulkyness of Leader Prime. The backpack thing isn't as bad as it sounds. I really like him, and he really doesn't look bad with the rest of his crew either.
Both Leader and Voyager Prime have their own plus and minus'. Leader Prime looks great, but he is very bulky looking compared to the movie version and voyager Prime. Voyager Prime looks more true to the movie, but he has the backpack thing going on. But they both look absolutely GREAT!!!
Megatron on the other hand, I can't tell you. I've seen Leader Megs, and he doesn't impress me. I have not seen Voyager Megs, but judging by the pics online, the stupid ice on him is rediculous too. So, I really don't know.

I know you asked for our help and opinions on the subject, but in the end, you have to go with what makes you happy.
That being said, here's my P.O.V. on the figures:
Voyager Prime is a cheat. He basically unfolds out of his backpack (which is the vehicle mode's hood) and he doesn't really incorporate much of his vehicle mode pieces into his robot mode. His hands are terrible looking and he's incredibly small. (See one in person, if you haven't already, and you'll see what I mean.)
Voyager Megatron is also a cheat. Perhaps even a little worse than Voyager Prime. His legs don't transform at all, they literally stick out of the back of his vehicle mode and all that happens are that his feet collapse for vehicle mode. You swing the wings and arms into place for robot and vehicle mode. (There's a bit more to it, but not much.) Plus the ice pieces are just an eye sore. This is the main reason why he's not selling worth a damn at the stores.
Leader Class Optimus Prime is literally the best Prime figure, ever...in my book. He's fully detailed, excellent paint job, tremendous posability considering he's a Leader Class figure, and his Automorphs are really quite nice. He fully uses his vehicle pieces in robot mode and vice versa. No cheating here. Now while the Voyager is slimmer like the movie design, the Leader definitely captures more of the accuracy. Albeit out of scale a bit from the movie model.
Leader Class Megatron is not a perfect figure, but he's definitely one of the coolest to come down the line in a long time. He's fully detailed as well, and his ice is basically blue paint on different areas of his body. He's the same size as Prime and they seem to be a perfect match for one another. Plus, no problems with his feet and standing like the Voyager version and his hands are actually articulated and his fingers move. The Voyager's basically collapses....
It's pricey, considering you're spending $80.00+ to get both, when compared to $40.00 to get the smaller versions of both...but the pros far outweigh the cons (no pun intended) and I think you'll be much happier with the Leader Class of both figures. (if nothing else, get Leader Class Prime...he's nothing short of phenomenal.)
