Queston about B'Boom and Apache. and other Beast Wars figures.

Postby Scaleface » Sat Mar 31, 2007 10:15 pm

I just picked up a MISB B'Boom toy for $5.99. I was curious, I know he was released as Apache in Japan, a seemingle different character. Was the toy identical or was there a difference in the deco?

If they are identical, are there other Beast Wars toys that are identical in the US and Japan versions, but are meant to be different characters? I think Scuba and Clawjaw are the same. Both version of Magmatron seem the same too.

Anyone else?

Most of the TFs that showed up in the JP series but were released in the American line are identical to their JP counterpart.

In Japan, Airazor was a guy. I don't know what they did about the relationship stuff with Tigatron, though.

There were a few figures released in Japan that had a slightly different paint job than in the US. Rattrap and Terrorsaur, for instance, had paint jobs that resembled their cartoon appearence a little bit better. I think maybe Tigatron did as well. I think that's just about it, though.

For the most part they were identical, save for some more show-accurate colors. I'll list the ones who were completely identical, with their Japanese names and number:

- B'Boom aka C-12 Apache
- Snarl aka C-14 Tasmania Kid
- Claw Jaw aka C-15 Scuba

The following have slightly different deco, but have enough similarities to be considered interchangable:

- Powerpinch with C-22 Scissorboy
- Lazorbeak with D-33 Hydrar
- Magnaboss (all components) with X-4 Magnaboss

The rest of the Japan-only BW toys were complete repaints or retools.

No no, you're probabaly thinking of Beast Machines Snarl. Liojunior was a minor repaint of Beast Wars Prowl, the main component of Magnaboss.

I think Rockbuster and Video Tape Razorclaw were nearly identical, but they both had rub symbols, right? So if it was a Maximal it was Rockbuster and if it was a Predacon it was Razorclaw.

You got it. I was hesitating on adding him, because well, I don't know which came first: Video Razorclaw or Rockbuster.
