Scorponok - Hoist repaint (Wip pics added 06-08-07)
Design for an idea jimsloth gave me in my optimus prime - hoist topic, not 100% sure if I'll do this yet, If I do i'll probably change the hands to make them more claw like

If i do decide to do it I I'll probably end up using RID hightowers head
(I never got the full set anyway)
http://www.geocities.com/tf_cr_rid/toys ... m_side.jpg
It's about the right size and roughly the right shape, with a bit of re-modeling, painting and some antena stuck on it should look the part
P.s the more I think about it i think the colours are off the green is ok but i need to make that purple allot less er... pink

Depending on how good your fabrication and sculpting skills are, you would probably be better off making a new head from scratch rahter than sacrificing a perfectly good bot just for the head. Even if you don't have the full set of RID Construction combiners, I wouldn't sacrifice the ones you do have; especially if it is the only copy of that model you own. You could always look for the missing bots to the set on line. I am sure somebody has them.

youre probably right, though I neglected to mention my hightower is damaged
Alltough im new to kitbashing I do have some (not superb) modeling skills from my Games Workshop days, I guess I'm just loooking for the easy optiion, I'll have a fiddle and see what I can do before using a (probably) quite fixable tf
thanks for the advice

I would say try fabricating the head. That would be your best bet, and likely get you closer to the look you want than modding an exsisting head. This is especially true if your Hightower is fixable. If it were FUBAR, then I would say, go ahead and cannibalize to your heart's content, but if, as seen in the picture, it is not that badly damaged, and is fixable. I say fix your Hightower and fabricate a head for your bash.

Thats just a random googled pic of hightower, on my hightower the peg that attaches the cab to the bot has snapped off inside his back, vehicle mode is a no no but it still displays well in robot mode as it can still attach by the head.
I'll still try and make one first, (because I do like hightower,he was my first mod before I even knew what kitbashing was, I added holes to the pegs on his shoulders to make them into minicon ports) how that turns out will decide hightowers fate.
thanks again for the advice

If the peg is broken inside the back, that should be pretty easy to fix as long as you can disassemble him, then it is just a matter of re-gluing the post in place with a rod inside for added strength.

It's been a while but here are some wip pics for the project
been caught up with uni glad to say I have a bit more time on my hands now. The paint job isnt quite finished yet plus theres a bit more work to do on the figure, thinking of making the lower claw/thumb parts bigger and looking into adding a scorpion mode (of course), sorry about the blurry pics having a hard time with this camera.
I decided to take Tramps advice and use the existing head rather than taking one from aanother TF all I did was cut of the parts i didnt want, file the face smooth and create a new face using little bits card which didnt turn out too bad considering (it's a little cartoony but thats not necessarily a bad thing) the claws are modded feet from an old bionicle figure and the horns feet from a beyblade dragon figure of some sort and I made a hole in his back so his head could store even with the massive horns.
just a quick thanks to dark_lord_prime for inspiring my modded version of his Armada Prime-Hoist repaint and for jimsloth for commenting on my Prime project and inspiring me to do a Scorponok (funny how ideas come about aint it?)

Thanks Skull and in answer to the question you asked many many moons ago I really cant think of a figure of the right scale that I think would fit as Fort Max.
Cyb Metroplex would be a good choice as Tramp suggested but scale wise it wouldn't really go well with this Scorponok, all Fort Max would have to do is sit on Scorponok and it's game over for Scorpy!

Hey, HEY! I really like that! How'd you connect the tail to the back off the arm? I have Longrack and was gonna use his head for fodder. Now I know what to do with the body, if I can copy yours?

Thanks for the feedback guys
sure you can copy it, I intend to copy your movie bb when I get my hands on one
There is a fairly simple way to make the digger arm removable (I'll post pics/explaination when i can get my camera, the figure and the internet together if you like).
Once you've done that the digger arm just happens to slot neatly into his back (where his head goes in vehicle mode), oh and his right arm is a spare from another hoist toy.
