It's pretty common these days for a modern TF product to be repainted and retooled (usually the head) and get released as a new figure by Hasbro. Perhaps in this thread we can share our ideas about what kind of TFs Hasbro can made using the existing molds.
(Mods, please move this thread if I made it in the wrong forum)

Here are mine:

Generations Warpath as G2 Megatron:

I had a Skyquake custom done for me by Darkcave Custom using US voyager size starscream from the 2 pack with vector prime. I wanted to use armada skywarps head on this figure and also a chain gun a la Skyquake from the transformers prime cartoon. Stuck with the original color scheme tho. Its an amazing piece!

Just keep pumping out digibshes for me to drool over. I have nothing useful to add. :P I can get behind that G2 Megs and even Guzzle but the chest cannon throws it off IMO. As much as I like the way that Soundwave looks, that mold is pretty flawed. Unless they did some retooling to fix the issues, I'd prefer to stick with ML Soundwave. I still need to snag one to stick with, haha. Combaticons were rounded out pretty well with the combiner set for ROTF and FansProject Munitioner and Explorer.

Just out of curiosity, what are the flaws and issues of that Perceptor mold? I don't have one yet (I want to) and the reviews I've read about it are all pretty positive in general. So if you can save my money from it, please do! :D

And what is ML Soundwave?

Perceptor's backpack doesn't seem to lock in securely. It also has a tab that should connect it all securely that is easily broken. Transforming the tracks on him can cause stress marks in the plastic. Having owned the United version already, I already knew to be careful. It didn't matter. In my opinion, he's just too much robot to be stuffed into his alt mode without some hinges suffering. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a cool figure. He's just got some issues to be mindful of.

ML Soundwave is the shortened form of Music Label Soundwave.

You know, I pretty much only collect the '84/85 pre-animated movie G1 figures for nostalgia purposes, but I wouldn't mind getting one of those E-Hobby Sunstorm figures and making custom forward swept wings for it, then giving it a nice paint job (so i basically end up with a G1 Sunstorm seeker with forward swept wings like the Animated Sunstorm).

Wouldn't mind trying my hand at an Acid Storm repaint of a G1 Seeker as well... though I'd want it to be a little more interesting than just lime green all over. I'm thinking a base coat of green with some mottling that gives the impression that it's been acid etched. Then some darker green lines here and there where the Seekers would normally have wing stripes, etc.

I've also recently thought about (once I have some custom work under my belt) getting some variant of Megatron (likely the MP-05) and using that as a custom-bait base for Megatronus Prime (The Fallen). The goal would be to have it end up resembling Don Figueroa's sketch of Megatronus:

Most of these are quite old, but here you go anyway:

Animated G2 Grimlock

Before the Collectors Club thought about it with animated Blurr, I had already made this digibash for a Transtech/Cybertronian Cheetor.

Image

Also before the Cybertron Defense Hot Shot mold had gotten so many uses I though about Warpath and the Micromaster Groundhsaker's Base/Vehicle as possible repaints for it.

We really need these ones. I don't understand how after three releases of the Movie Landmine mold, we still haven't gotten a green one!

I'm not very good at photoshopping stuff, so I don't have pictures, but here are some repaints I want (that you haven't mentioned):

-HFTD Sidearm Sideswipe in black, with silver accents
-DOTM Deluxe Sideswipe in red, with black and white dragon tattoos
-Generations Scourge as Alpha Trion
-DOTM Deluxe Mirage (assuming we get one) as Breakdown
-A movie-accurate ROTF Voyager Megatron

I totally agree with you that out of what I've posted, those are the no-brainer options for Hasbro. Guzzle just got a figure in the DOTM Cyberverse line though, but as a Sparkabots fan, I would love this version of Guzzle!

And movieverse Hound is so obvious that it should've been released in the NEST/HFTD line!

I love G2 Megatron! Brilliant use for the mold!

I also like the ideas of Hound as Swindle (which I've mentioned before) and Perceptor as Soundwave.

I've always thought Universe Onslaught would look great as G1Snap Trap!

Could somebody out there digibash that image for me??! I would very much appreciate that.

I've wanted to paint one for the longest time but don't really wanna spend the cash on the figure till i see if it actually looks alright.

HA!....Excellent! Thanx Overcracker!! He definitely looks a lot less tough looking but i had to see it. If i do come across this mold again for dirt cheap i'll be doing this paint job. With a change or two here and there but I do like ridiculous colours on TF's so this works for me.
But once again.....thanx for the time and effort Overcracker. ;)^

I'm thnkin that i would use a light shade of pink on the grey plastic at his knees and biceps. His shoulders and claws i would try and chrome out. Just like the chest shield on the original. It does look like you tried the lighter pink on the biceps and silvered up the shoulder/claws area a bit though. It's just not showing up very distinctly.

That's about it really.

Oh......and carry the blue on the abs up around his head area. Like a blue stripe.

I really do love him painted like that!
