Nobody, out of the kindness of their heart, is going to go into a theater and make a cam-copy of a film to send to their "brothers" over in the UK, because they can't watch it.

Then explain why most of these are available for free online, which you acknowledge down further? The reason Piracy is SO HIGH for this movie is that people in the UK and what not have gotten used to getting movies on time. And quite frankly, Paramount DESERVE to have their movie pirated for such a terrible decision. And for destroying Star Trek while we're at it.

Cam copies are rarely ever sold. Only DVD Pirates would bother.

So, someone has never been to a comic convention, or other sort of convention.

There are booths upon booths of bootleg dvds for sale of movies, shows, and what not that haven't been put on dvd yet.

There are vendors in the streets who do sell pirated dvds.

Piracy is not high because "for this movie is that people in the UK and what not have gotten used to getting movies on time"

If someone wants to see the movie in theaters, are they;

A. Going to wait for the movie to come out to see it in the theater

or

B. Pirate a handy-cam poor quality copy of the version and be overly disappointed?

I'd have to say A.

Now of course you'll say B, just because, but it's ok, not everyone knows the right answer.

For every torrent of the Transformers film there is online, several of which are just reuploaded versions of the same crappy copy. There are quadruple that number and most likely more, in bootleg dvds being sold.

How many people have that copy of Windows or Microsoft Office that they didn't pay for? It's all piracy. It's all wrong but to what extent should these people be punished? "raped in prison" for what? Downloading pirated anti-virus to keep their computer from being compromised? "raped in prison" for pirating a copy of Microsoft Word so their kid can do school work?

The punishment should fit the crime.

Good, I'm glad you said that. And I agree 100%. I spoke the truth when I said I had no interest in DL'ing TF. However I am not innocent in degrees of piracy. The Photoshop I use is from a friend of a friend of a friend...

I think a lot of us do it and the justify it to ourselves as well:

"Well I PAID to see it in the theater. I just wanna have a copy to see it again"

serves them right. give them the maximum fine and then lock them up.

Finnaly law inforcment is earning their paychecks!

Yeah, that was my reasoning.
I already had planned to watch it again, & I especially do now that I watched a crappy version that cut off about a third of the left side of the screen.

Good to see the theaters are monitoring it! People that DL the TF movie off of a pirate should be flogged! Any other movie I don't care.

its funny that most of the people in here that are yapping about who wants to watch a crappy cam are so out of the loop....i wont get into the details and what not....but cam versions of a film are so 2002....nowdays its all about dvd rips straight from the source disc...

Actually a CAM bootleg will usually show up online after the first two days, then a few days later the Telesync (TS) which is still shot on a digicam. The difference being it's not filmed by some dude sitting in the audience, but from the projector booth. Its usually filmed in HD so there is no shaking, cropping, and the clearest image possible. Its also possible to jack the camera into the theater sound system in order to get direct audio. That way there are no laghs, screams, or coughs durring playback.

Pirating is serious business, where there is a will there is way and everyone is trying to get the best there is. The best fake...sounds rediculous, but it's true.

I honestly do not see the point in DLing pirated movies. A person must be extremely lazy and cheap to not go and pay the $7-$10 for the movie at the theatre. It is because of those people that have caused movie prices to be so high. I remember working at a theatre a couple of years ago, and it cost $4 for the afternoon shows and maybe $6 for the evening ones. Those people just need to get off the lazy ass' and enjoy the whole movie experience(Yes that does mean paying a little bit of money for it, but it is worth every minute of it).

Everytime you upgrade or replace the processor in your computer you are supposed to buy a new copy of Windows. I still find it amazing how many of the people posting in this thread say they want pirates punished like they are violent criminals when they are most likely pirates themselves in one way or another even if they don't want to admit it.

People STILL go to theaters to watch movies THEN they want the movie at their house. Think about it, films don't make 500 Million++ if people were all sitting at home on their lazy asses DL'ing movies.

Also think about what youre saying as far as increasing prices. When people start straying from the theater the last thing you do is increase the price! I pay $9/$6 for regular and matinee respectively and I think thats fair for two hours of entertainment. Piracy hasn't cause tickets prices to increase, inflation has.

Indeed. That would be like saying that Wal-mart needs to increase the price of merchandise they can't sell. Could you imagine Cybertron toys still warming shelves because instead of putting the toys on clearence or replacing them with different gimmicked toys, they simply jacked-up the prices? Let's see, where do I stand on this subject...

First off, I'm on a fixed income and after bills and rent, I have about $100 to call my own for a month.

I paid to see TF at 8pm on the second, $20 (Ticket, Soda, Popcorn) and again the next morning with a different group of friends, $20 (Ticket, Soda, Lunch).

I bought both novels, Prequel and Novelization, on release. $18.

So far I'm pinching $60 BEFORE movie figures... That'll easily put me over $150 I spent on TF this MONTH.

That's my budget till September... Spent on TF.

So what if I want a Watchable, not Perfect, souvenir to tide me over until the DVD release.

Maybe Hollywood should go the way of the Music industry... I-flicks anyone? How about Premier-On-Demand?

It would save the movie companies a ton of money on duplications and distribution.

Besides, when I watch a movie, I like to enjoy it at my pace somewhere clean without babies crying and cell phones going off.

When I talk to people online (AND off) about a dl'ed movie I saw, many freak out calling me "pirate" and saying, "I hope you get CAUGHT and JAILED and FINED!"

Which is annoying, as 99% also have songs, images and software THEY illegally downloaded, with no misunderstanding as to their legality.

I honestly do not see the point in DLing pirated movies. A person must be extremely lazy and cheap to not go and pay the $7-$10 for the movie at the theatre.

The truth:
Buying a ticket supports sequels... a bad thing if a movie is ass.
The obvious:
You don't work for a living, do you? You've never known hunger so bad that $5 was all the money you had to use for food for a WEEK.

I downloaded the Transformers game, and I'm glad I did. I'd have been really pissed if I'd actually payed for that piece of crap.

I have heard that there are editor cuts that make their way out of the studio, that are almost as good as the one's played in the theater and have scenes that were not cut from the final version. those same DVD editors cuts that need revisions, some minor color corrections and sound clean up, end up online in those torrents and such. SO the whole movie theater camcorder thing is stupid in comparison.

It's still wrong to pirate this movie!!!

Privacy is an interesting topic in todays society with downlable programs, music, images, movies, tv shows. It is much more complicated than what time and info we have to discuss it here...

The real issue is that on duty police officers are taking time out of their day protecting PEOPLE to arrest "criminals" taping a movie. What? Who are they protecting here...

Didn't Transformers make something like 160 million dollars in 6 days...

My guess is if you watch in the tiny screen, you werent going to pay to see it anyway. Besides I am all for the big screen experience.

The fact they can monitor everything you watch on your Blu-ray player or even remotely disable the player if they don't like the content your watching is freaky.

Granted these "options" are not enabled in current generation Blu-ray players but they are written into the tech specs so they could be enabled.

Can anyone say Big Brother? No way in Hell I'm getting Blu-ray if they can monitor what you are watching and shut it down remotely. What's to stop them doing that when you are watching TFTM (or an equally innocent film) just because they are bored?

I wanna buy transformers on DVD, however, I don't wanna buy it from some spotty piece of gutter crud incapable of nothing less than piracy and bootlegging. I've paid to see the movie three times now, and I'm gunna pay to see it again and again until it's on DVD then I'm gunna buy it.

Pirates are the lowest form of life and yes, that includes Pirates of the Caribean. If someone can only exist by ripping off the works of others and stealing what others strive to create then I hope they suffer from some much deserved police brutality.

oh, and I'ma buy the soundtrack too.
