Sometimes I hate Ebay...

Postby MegatronBomb » Tue Nov 13, 2007 8:35 pm

I just got the E-hobby Bluestreak MISB I bought for $45.00. I asked the seller about the condition of the box and if it was factory sealed. He assured me the box was mint and factory sealed. Well, the box was C-7.5 at best, the corners were rounded, there is a tape tear on the side were it supposed to be factory sealed. And he had scotched taped it closed after he opened it. And after all this I will be leaving him a positive feedback so he will leave me one as well.

WTH would you leave him positive for? Sounds like he straight up lied. If you are afraid of a him leaving you a negative for giving him one dont give him feedback at all then. Report it to ebay or ask him for a refund. Do something for not getting what you were supposed to get.

Ebay can suck like that alot! I ordered an Omega Supreme, photographed with only one midsized clip missing. I got it and a mid sized and small clips where missing. To top it, the seller got pissy with me when I asked about it :-x

I have an extra set of clips so it's no big deal, but buyer be wary sucks!

And this is not to mention being outbid at the last second, and sellers that jack up their shipping fee and send you your item in a third hand box.

Vintage BumbleBee single tire, BUY IT NOW for $10, and we'll ship it for $80! Location, around the corner :-x :-x :-x

But again, buyer be wary, still, take notes on who burns ya and make sure they leave feedback first :D

eBay seriously needs to change the feedback system. Sellers should be required to leave feedback first.

Sure some sellers might get screwed here and there but not nearly as much as the buyers do now.

Yeah, but ebay specifically provides you remedies against someone significantly misrepresenting what they're selling. You can file a dispute, and if I read the instructions correctly, both parties cannot leave feedback viewable by others once they're in a dispute, so you're covered in that respect. Unfortunately, I'm contemplating a dispute myself. Don't let the bastards win!

You do have to watch those shipping prices. Alot of people do try to earn more by raising them to a rediculous level.

Somtimes the problem that MegatronBomb speaks of is because of one of two reasons. Ether the person selling the item has no knowledge or at best very little in Transfomers and only knows that it is an old item and figures that even a bad box is "mint" considering its age. OR two, the guy knows plenty about TF's but is a jerk and will tell ya what ya want to hear to get the highest bid.

The ebay feedback system is a joke because nobody with perfect feedback wants it tarnished especially from retaliation for telling the truth. Therefore, bad sellers and buyers aren't singled out and forced to change thier behavior.

MB, my advice to you to avoid feedback retaliation is, just don't leave feedback. You may not be telling other buyers what happened to you, but you won't be telling them you were happy with the sale when you weren't. If your seller leaves positive feedback for you then good for him, you weren't the cause of deception in this transaction and he owes you that for not telling everyone that hes not truthful in his condition grading. I have had to do this myself a few times.
Good luck

I've seen a ton of items with really low bids that I was quite keen on getting, but the shipping was crazy. One guy wanted 40US to ship a RID Prime. I shipped a gigantic box with 4 complete MG Gundams inside for less than that! And I shipped EMS too!

Anyway, as for the feedback thing, I just wouldn't leave him any. It really does suck how the feedback thing works, buyers can get screwed for no reason other than pettiness on the part of the seller, when they lied about what they were selling.

I wouldn't assume that. I've never sold on ebay, but I would think feedback is more important to the seller than the buyer. If I see feedback of less than 99%, I avoid. That simple. A seller with say 98.2% probably has a lot of unhappy buyers who kept quiet. 97% could be more like 40% buyer satisfaction.

But sellers can get screwed a lot of ways too. There was one item I bought on ebay about a year ago. I waited over a month and nothing came. Eventually I contacted the seller and got a refund. A few weeks later the item arrived. It was postmarked the day after the auction had ended, and the shipping was the exact amount he charged me. The post office screwed up.

If I'd been a jerk buyer, I might've left negative feedback and kept the refund, and the seller would have very little recourse. He doesn't even know if I'm telling the truth about not receiving it. If a seller is unfortunate enough to live near a crooked post office, they're screwed.

In many ways, sellers are in a much more vulnerable position. If an item doesn't arrive, they can loose doubly. They loose both the item and the refund.

Just ordered a loose G1 Prime cab. I got it for a good price with five buck shipping. I check the seller's average feedback, and the negative I saw had a happy ending involving a return and item correction.

I can usually tell what I'm getting from pictures and I tend not to bid on items with stock photos. My major gripe with eBay isn't so much the condition of the item but the sellers who lie about shipping prices. A prime example of this is a time I paid $20 to ship a small figure and when it arrived the postage had only cost the seller $3. It annoys me quite a lot as I can't leave negative feedback for misleading me like that as I don't want to sacrifice my 100% feedback rating.

I have a pair of G1 Seeker fists on the way that I was charged $24 for priority shipping. I will be interested to see if that amount was actually spent on it.

I kinda got haXXored on Ebay just recently...

Scored a MISB Nemesis Breaker for eighteen bucks and reasonable shipping. The item was paid for immediately, and I sent a message off to the seller the day I sent payment. He answered back very cheerfully.

Then about a week after cleared payment, I get a message from him. He apologized and then went on to tell me there was a problem with his system. His computer told him he had two in stock but he could not find them anywhere. He gave me a full refund and apologized again.

This auction was started on November first. I looked through his feedback, making sure to read each one carefully. And like I expected, I found one... Positive feedback from a buyer who was obviously afraid of retalliatory negative feedback. He gave a positive, but in the written he specifically said the item never existed and he was given a full refund. The seller responded: "Sorry, the computer said I had two in stock but I couldn't find them anywhere!" All this happened on October 19th.

Meaning a little over ten days later, the guy that just realized "his computer was wrong" relisted the same damn item and everything had the same damn outcome.

:-x

I went the same route, afraid of retalliatory negative feedback (Which I really don't need this early in my Ebay life; seeing as how I've only got 3 feedbacks so far) I left the guy a positive but made sure to state the problem and say "This has happened before..."

This took place around the sixth. Today, I still have yet to receive any feedback from the guy...

I'm an Ebayer who either sends imediate payment, or stayes in good comunication if payment is going to be delayed for a day or two.

On that note as a buyer, my part is done, feedback should be left right away.

My feedback rate should be 30 points higher, but sellers flake to often :-x

I'd like to see Ebay do something to prompt feedback upon payment. Waiting to see if I'm happy before saying I'm a good ebayer is wrong.

As a seller, I always leave feedback at when payment arrives.

I think you're being a wuss about it. If you feel you got your money's worth, but you were still lied about shipping, compromise with a neutral feedback. If you're retaliated with a negative, do the same to him. Don't be so protective about your damn rating.

Totally @ Liege. I remember when my Unicron arrived. He was put inside his packaging. Which was put inside a box. And sent to me.

Mind as well just slapped a sticker on Unicron's packaging and sent him to me. It was almost as bad as when I ordered Leader Brawl, Cybertron Shortround and 4 robot heroes and Hasbro just stuck all four in a box and mailed it to me.

Seriously. My Cryotek was the best Ebay packaging job I've gotten to date. He was wrapped in cling wrapp and then the box was padded with newspaper...

Maybe its that they're a really reputable business, but BBTS has the best packaging jobs, by far. They stick bubble wrap & and a plastic airbubble around the bubblewrap.

Nah.

And by "nah," I mean, "Not a special and unique snowflake's chance in hell." I'm starting to sell off my stuff, and I've run into trouble in the very first batch. One guy took far longer to pay than he should have, and another hasn't paid yet though he has said he wants the item and he will. (This second guy has said a lot of things. I'll be relisting the item shortly -- Armada Jetfire if anybody is interested.) However, I'm unwilling to open myself to negative feedback retaliation.

I don't rate my items because I don't feel well enough qualified to do so such that nobody will have a differing opinion. I take pictures, and offer additional pictures on request. I strongly recommend that anybody concerned with the box condition of their purchases ask the sellers for pictures.

Incidentally, I don't leave feedback first as a purchaser anymore either. Too often have people simply neglected to leave feedback in return when I was trying to build my rating. I was one of those OCD types had the paypal money sent within an hour of auction end. Several dozen feedbacks is more than enough for anything, I don't really need any more positive feedback. It's the negative feedback that concerns me.

I do believe my future auctions will say something along the lines of, "I do not leave feedback until I am certain my customer is satisfied with their purchase (in the form of feedback). I will gladly discuss any dissatisfaction and attempt to reach a good-faith resolution."

As a seller, one gets asked a number of silly questions. Sometimes there can be a delicate line to walk in terms of answering them and yet not alienating a potential bidder. Though I imagine that as I begin to list my higher profile and higher value items, I'll have less tolerance.

@ DeathNoble, I preordered the first wave movie deluxes from HasbroToyShop. 2 weeks later, I got a good sized box filled with pillow packing and two looser magnets with a form saying what would be shipped at a later date(which was everything else). The bots came 2 weeks after the retail release in the same maner yours did.

As for ebay, its seems the higher the shipping, the less effort the seller puts into it :???:

Now for Christmas, I got my niece(she's 8) a bunch of these old McDonalds food TFs. She likes her play kitchen and robots so...

I won them for $5, they shipped for $5.50. Each one came individualy bubble wraped, then tissue papered

So I guess the point is, some people are gonna make their money one way or another, and FU in the process! Then there are some others that care about delivering a good product, and care about repeat busness :-?

PS, here's a pic of those food bots :P

Cool, again, right off I got her into bots! Kindegarden started, all the boys cried cause she had an Energon Optimus backpack. She also understands collectable and vintage(yup, Uncle Liege).

It drives my sister crazy, but Katiemus does love her kitchen playset as I taught her to cook (for real) too, so these should be nice for her!

However, just so I don't seem cheap, I also got her the Pirates 13inch TV with the skull on top, cause well...
