This is related somewhat to secondary market prices of our TF fave figures.

Example:

henkei Thrust= Y 5,000.00(an exclusive for sure), not as high as TT but, well there's already a mass release of him

Encore Skywarp/Thundercracker= Y 2,500.00 (it's got die-cast and short missiles that can choke a kid if you're that stupid a parent to let them play it)

henkei Thundercracker= Y 8,000.00 (of course it's limited)choke full of mold degradation problems, and to think there's a Hasbro version out already.

TFC Soundwave= Y 6,000.00 compared to Encore Soundwave, Y 7,000.00 (ok, small difference)

I could go on and on. Sometimes the prices are so way out there that it makes me cry

Oh for the days when vintage figs cost cheaper in the flea markets............

nowadays in flea markets you see a transformer
you ask the vendor how much they say
"( insert crazy price here ) its collectible "
lol and most the time its not that old or missing pieces..

Sellers can only keep getting those high amounts,if buyers are constantly willing to pay those high amounts.

If buyers takes a stand & don't buy. then the sellers will either keep holding on to their stuff forever. or the sellers will have to lower the prices.

sellers don't control the secondary market. buyers control the secondary market. because without the buyer the seller can't sell their stuff.

Yup. In analogy, the original frickin' Seeker re-issue is technically dirt cheap at Y 2,500.00. You get Skywarp and Thundercracker all in one package.

And for henkei Thundercracker.........

This really got me thinking.... if we somehow got kids and collectors to stop buying TFs, stores will stop importing em, em hasbro might lower their price. Either that or we just killed the whole franchise

We so need to start a petition for hasbro to lower deluxe prices by $5, voyagers by $10 and leaders by .... $20? Thats more like cybertron prices! For the good of all of us!

We could do that... if you can figure out a different way to compensate oil prices and inflation of the dollar, without sacrificing the quality of the toys.

I could maybe be convinced to sell my Henkei Thundercracker and Thrust.

What exactly do you think is a fair price? Because I think that the prices you listed in Yen convert to less than the actual cost of the figure at time of importing when factoring in the current and previous conversion rate.

What about for a loose but mint Skyquake? Is Y 7,000.00 cheap or a fair price?

hmm makes me think...
I allways decide if something is "cheap" or "too much" on my personal standarts. lets say, figure A is a masterpiece of design, is limited, transforms nicly, is sturdy AND has a great altmode(perhaps even clear parts XD I'm a sucker for these, or die cast parts) and the figure is at retail 100$, some may say its to much but I would think its alright. while I see a figure wich is rather flimsy in platsic only, with perhaps a nice mech mode, but its altmode is... crappy.... but its only 20 bucks, I would say its too much and wont buy it XD
it highly depends on what I get, if it pleases me so to say.
I have rather fewer bots and cons in my shelf, but wich I all like to their fullest, than a shelf full of cheap mechs.

Skyquake? Did you mean Skywarp?

Anyway, Dirge and Thrust were like...$85 USD a piece upon release, more in some places.

Thundercracker and Skywarp were $75 USD a piece. Those prices were before shipping, which was usually about $20 for EMS. So...yea, those prices are kind of cheap when ignoring the conversion rate.

I mean G1 Skyquake, sorry for the mix up. I also saw one in a not sealed box but still mint condition for Y 7,000.00. Is that cheap too?

I honestly would not know.

It makes me cringe when I see aftermarket prices on certain figures. Just be patient. If you keep your eye on Ebay you can find deals. You just have to be willing to wait.

In good condition, let alone mint, and with all the small missiles I'd part with that in a heartbeat. And I wouldn't care if it came with a box. My UK release is pretty beat up and in need of parts, wouldn't have picked it up on it's own but it was in a cheap lot of mostly G1.5s.

Man, you ain't kiddin'! 3 weeks I was at one in San Antonio. I saw RiD Scourge and asked how much was it. I was like, really to the guy's face but in the back of my mind I was like ....for $110.00?!? I just said the hell with it and got me a Car Robots Black Convoy off ebay for about 73(shipping added)bucks.
