So,MP-09 version 2.0 got released with mp-10,any reviews on colors & the fixes on the toy?

I noticed their were a few on-line reviews already for MP-10 Convoy.

What about MP-09 Version 2.0 that got released with MP-10 on the same exact day.

I was wondering if takara bothered to do a more glossy darker color scheme. added in the targetmaster. fixed some of the flaws on the toy that appeared in the Hasbro TRU MP Rodimus Prime toy.

MP-09 is Rodimus Convoy. There's going to be a second run with tweaks to fix the problems on the first release. And nothing is added, just to make that clear.

mp-10 comes out this week from what we all saw.
mp-09 v.2............beats me buddy. I don't think anyone knows about the ETA on that one.

According to various on-line sites MP-10 & MP-09 were released on the same exact day.

I think you may have gotten confused by the fact that many news stories are calling MP-10: Masterpiece Convoy version 2.0.

In other words the second Masterpiece Convoy mold.

I have seen nobody refer to Rodimus in any of the news posts here or any other site i frequent.

I know its called 2.0. The question was whether any articles were actually referring to Rodimus specifically or if they were just referring to MP10 but as Convoy 2.0. Which may cause some confusion.

I haven't seen any articles refer to the second edition of Rodimus specifically as being out, and even BBTS, as well as Tfsource still have it as a pre-order.

That's correct, it has yet to be released.

Pretty sure it's just the same as TRU Rodimus mold (with its ever so subtle differences)with the Takara paint job and trailer.

Update: BBTS.COM is listing MP-09 Version 2.0 as in stock. So hopefully in a few days someone post's a review of this store. and list all the corrected/fixed stuff on this mold.

My guess is the Trailer gaps have been widened a bit. so the yellow wing spoiler doesn't scratch up when it slides into the trailer to complete the rodimus prime alt tractor trailer alt mode.

Yeah, now that it's out, I'd really like a detailed list and pictures of the improvements, and hopefully pictures of the packaging that would show the difference in the two so we know we're not getting screwed.

My TRU version fits inside the Takara trailer just fine. My Takara Rodimus doesn't fit, though...it would surely scratch to hell.

BBTS has told me that there is NOTHING different on the packaging to indicate that the toy is Version 2. So, if you're like me and don't have Version 1 and don't know what to look for, there's a good chance you will be screwed. Not by BBTS, but you can bet that some sellers on eBay will be trying to unload their Version 1's and saying they are Version 2's. BBTS said they keep them separate, which is fine, but I have a bad feeling about this. Takara really screwed the pooch by not adding to or altering the packaging in some way.

That's odd,at least put a silver or gold sticker on the box,so fans/buyers know if it's version 1 or 2.

Personally I've got the 1st version takara MP Rodimus Prime & the Hasbro TRU Rodimus Prime.

the fixed version as their calling it,I noticed they spring feet the biggest defect on the mold was still not fixed. I noticed this when i bought the hasbro tru mp Rodimus prime toy.

Some of the fixed stuff on the 2nd version,Actually made the mold weaker. for some weird reason they put extra elbow caps on the hasbro TRU version. that seem to stick out more & make the elbow joints more loose & floppy.

About the only thing they fixed that was successful was the lower leg panel doors.it's on a longer hinge.

I'm not sure but hasbro might have saved money & got rid of the diecast metal in the red knee joints.

I think the 2nd version hasbro used for the TRU MP Rodimus toys,either has a bigger gun port or more narrow inner hands ports. that make holding the riffle gun more stable & it doesn't fall out of the hands & is loose in the hands like the takara version one is.

Some online fans claim the waist belt is less sticking out & doesn't scratch on the ground in car mode for the fixed version 2.0 hasbro is using.

a replier in this thread said the yellow wing on the 2.0 hasbro version was made smaller was made more narrower or trimmed or thinned out so when it goes into the trailer it doesn't scratch.

Personally,i'm kinda glad version 2.0 came out. because now the Takara version 1.0 will be cheaper.

I don't mind the version 1.0 stuff,as I own the toy,transformed it a few times,put it on a display shelf & didn't break anything.

even if they did change the packaging a little there nothing to prevent someone fron just doing a swap and sending you a v1. but in all honesty i really think all the drama over mp9 is a tad overblown.

I agree.

Personally I think the horrible paint job the hasbro Version received is far greater of a negative than any mold negatives on the takara version.

I have version 1 and I'm happy with him. I wish I woulda waited till now to buy him cause he's only 150 on BBTS, but how could I see all the drama coming?

I think in this case,the drama is a good thing. as BBTS.com lowered their asking price to $150.

I'd certainly like some concrete information on what has been fixed; I have one first run MP-09 and want to decide if the "fixes" are worth spending the extra to get a second release or not and (if the fixes do make that much of a difference) which components of each one to display in which mode.

My ultimate plan is to have one in space winnebago mode and one in Rodimus Prime mode; MP-09 is just too big to use as Hot Rod in my collection, unless I want to display him with my MP-01 & MP-04 (and if I want to do this I'll probably pick up a couple of the Hasbro version).

(I am rather amused that MP-09 is properly relatively scaled to both Mp-01 and MP-10, depending on which mode you transform it into....)

Here's a description of the differences between the two.

Improvements
1. His leg panels won't break off if they come off.
2. His back panel attaches securely (perhaps even better than the Hasbro one) in robot mode.
3. No issues pegging his chest into place.
4. He holds his guns extremely securely.
5. His wrists are not loose and do not wobble about.
6. No issues with the ankles (that I can see).
7. His spoiler slides in easier when transforming to Rodimus Convoy vehicle mode (though you still may get some rubbing).
8. He has the Rodimus Convoy biceps rather than the new type that came with Rodimus Prime (though apparently this isn't the case for all of them).
9. His crotch plate is beveled to decrease the chance of hitting the ground in car mode.

Other changes
1. His maroon paint in robot mode is very light compared to the original.
2. Orange plastic is a little lighter.
3. Yellow paint is slightly lighter.
4. Maroon paint on Rodimus Convoy cab portion is darker.
5. Biceps have a different sheen to them (perhaps they are made out of a different kind of plastic).

Here's my comments:

It's a positive thing takara didn't use the newer elbow joints with the newer tabs Hasbro used for their TRU toy. because the hasbro new joints+new tabs made the albow joints more lose & more floppy.

the Takara version 1.0 Rodimus Convboy colors were already too light. I can't magine them looking better with the MP-09 Version 2.0 NOW LIGHTER COLORS.

According to the allspark member who has the MP-09 Version 2.0 toy. the improvemts are better & tigher than the Hasbro TRU version. I suspose it makes sense to called the newer improved Takara version 3.0.
1.0 is the first Takara released version of M9-09. 2.0 is the Hasbro TRU version. 3.0 Is the more fixed version of this mold.

I kinda wish the guy who took the comparison pics. said which toy was the 1.0 & which was the 2.0. personally to me,it looks like the more neon brighter yellow MIGHT BE the 2.0 version.
