Welcome to Seibertron.

As far as starting, I would suggest with the classics line that is out now since it is readily available at a lot of retail outlets.
Then maybe you might want to pick up some of the Cybertron figs since some of them are still able to be picked up at retail.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Hey, welcome to Seibertron! Pro tip: if you want more people to look at this thread and help you, I'd recommend changing the title to something more descriptive.

That said, the best place to start is figuring out what kind of taste in figures you have. Have a look around the galleries here, and see what tickles your fancy. After that, it's just a matter of hunting them down. Try online stores like BBTS and Transformerland. Of course, ebay is can be quite good for getting older figures, and don't forget Carbombya. Good luck!

welcome welcome, I agree that the classics might be a good place to start, nothing overly expensive and great updates to some of the old characters... apart from that it really depends on your tastes and budget.

Hi! Welcome to Seibertron!

I personally would start with the Toys R Us reissues and classics.

Since the TRU G1 reissues are not in the stores anymore, you can often find them very inexpensively on e-bay.

As far as newer stuff goes, I agree with starting with the Classics. Most (if not all) of them are still readily available and it's a great line.

If you're looking for G1 stuff, I suggest starting collecting by sub-group (i.e. cassettes, Headmasters, Targetmasters, etc.). That's how I started and it's definitely easier this way. Also, for this, I'd say just look around ebay till you find what you're looking for and check around for small toy-and-comic conventions in your area. There's always great deals to be had if you know what you're doing.

Welcome to the machine. I suggest that if you have local comic shops in your area you hit them up. They often have toy sections with new and secound had collectibles in them. The Great Escape in Louisville'KY is were I get a lot of my older figures. I've found everything from G1 Swoop for $90 loose/compleete to $5-$20 for mib and loose charachters from recent lines I missed out on. Last good toy I got that way was Armada Unicron loose and complete for $30 that was last week. So maybe you can get started that way it's cheap and gives you the opportunity to get things not at retail at the time. Good luck. TX out.

Rule #1 dont buy anything i want to buy

other than that. Do what i did start by collecting different versions of your favorite character. While saving up for the more expensive figures you can purchase the classics. Then enjoy the addiction.

If you have loved one's however be careful, you may find yourself grounded from online buying for awhile :P

Welcome. Have an energon goodie. I agree with most of the others. Go for the classics now as they are still readily available. Then just go with what you like.

I agree. Start with the Classics if you don't have any Transformers yet. Spring time will be coming, which means yard sales. Perhaps you'll find a rare transformer.

Welcome to Seibertron Stu-mister Well lets see to to start your Transformers collection I would have to agree start with the classic line as it is still readily available as well as the Cybertron line as stores seem to stil be selling them. Donot beafraid to buy off ebay as a source I have gotten several Transformers off Ebay which were unavailable in stores. Check out some of the on line stores as well they are usually a little higher priced but are generally worth the price. Two stores I can recommend are Big Bad Toy Store as well as Digital Toys so far my experience with them have been very profesional and excellent customer service and their prices are very reasonable. sincerly Galaxion
