I had been hearing a lot of talk on other boards about the Target exclusive Universe comic 2 packs, so today I decided to do some investigating.

And what I had been hearing was true. I called 3 different stores, provided the DPCI #(087-06-2062) and received the same answer...$29.99.

Now at Botcon these bundles were displayed with a MSRP of $19.99.
It was a great price that only increased the excitement surrounding these repaints...did I just use the words excitement and repaint in the same sentence? Yes I did. These figs look great IMO, nice choice of character and mold.

Now we all heard of the impending price increase that Hasbro would be laying down, which just happened recently at HTS(on certain figures mind you) and the increase at retailers. Deluxes have gone up at Target to $10.99, that price has actually be the norm at TRU.
Leaders for $42.99, Voyagers $21.99 and Ultra at a $26.99 price point.

The same can be said for the Kmart mini con pack. Botcon showed $19.99, Kmart's website $21.99 and now in stores $24.99.
It seems to me that these "value" packs are losing their value, the price is now reflecting what you would normally pay.

Do you think that this will be an ongoing trend with store exclusives?

Will you still be getting these packs?

At $30 the 2-packs are unlikely to move at the Target near me. Last time the $20 metallic Movie Starscreams stayed on the shelves for a long time, then disappeared without going on clearance.

Remember BM, the Universe two-packs have only been released here in the great white north.

I've seen no posts from people state side spotting them. Besides, even when our dollors are at par with each other toy prices are always better in the states. PLUS MSRP doesn't always reflect what the retailers will sell it for. It's illegal for the distributor to set the selling price of the figures.

At TFCon they told us that Hasbro Canadas MSRP for a Deluxe class figure is $9.99, while the big three sell them for $14.98 and up.

Yeah, I realize that these haven't hit stateside yet but when I got a hold of the DPCI#s for them I had to call to check!

It just seems like a big increase from the price we are used to paying here(and previously told)in the states for a value/bundle/store exclusive like this.

US economy is in the crapper. Hopefully they'll have these for sale at the beginning of the holiday season.

If I have to fight on black friday for them then screw it. They're not worth it if I have to deal with thousands of people buying crap the day after Thanksgiving. Hopefully they'll come out a little early.

I don't think Hasbro can raise the prices since they've already been locked in at $20 in the US.

I hope so too. I will not go out on Black Friday ever again even if it's for Transformers. I don't have a local target so it makes it all the worse for me.

Plus, like I do with most of my store exclusives I buy, I planned on getting 2 of each, if I could. But with that increase, $40 more if outside of my price range. I know I could only buy one of each but that'll be $60 plus 30 for gas.
