I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a Super Megatron or Ultra Megatron figure from the Return of Convoy/Battlestars toy line was ever produced and released? Also from this toy line who was Dark Nova and Star Giant? Were these figures ever produced and released?

I know a few were made, Star Convoy,Grandus,and Skygarry.

As far as I know nether Megatron in your question were ever made by Takara.There are a few fan-made figures of them out there thou.The other 2 on your list I cant answer for.

Only Star Convoy was ever made of the characters fromt hat line that people would actually care about.

I think Takara missed a fortune forgetting all those sweet characters when they were doing RMs and the PVC line.

As for Dark Nova, he was a Unicron-like being (round and evil) who first resurrected Optimus Prime, turning him evil. He also resurrected Galvatron (absent from Masterforce on) and changed him into an upgraded Super Megatron, and later in Ultra Megatron. In a last-ditch effort he even combined with Megatron into Star Giant.

On a side note, the original draft had Unicron instead of Dark Nova. They should have kept Unicron in.

I for one would have prefered Megatron to ether of the ones you mention.

I foun d classics Megatron as a homage to Super Megatron just not in colour.

Titanium Megatron is kind of similar to Ultra Megatron.

It's a side effect of being based off G1 Megs.

Unicron was never involved. I know the pictures sort of look like that, but ... it's an old Japanese trick. Dark Nova was probably described as "unicron like" so they just drew Unicron. You'll notice that he's always in shadow and never clearly defined. This is proably because they hadn't settled on a design yet. Even Star Giant's character sketch differes from the one sctually shown in the TF flyer.

Edit: I just went over it and there's no mention of Unicron anywhere in the text. ユニクロン - there's the kanji for it. Maybe I missed it, but it really doesn't look like that's supposed to be Unicron. Although he might be related to him.

Yes, I know, I'm saying that isn't Unicron. If you look at that catalogue you won't find the name Unicron anywhere (and I supplied the kanji for you). Unless I glossed over it.

I'm sayign that Dark Nova was probably described as being LIKE Unicron, so they drew Unicron with plenty of shadows in order to cover their tracks. This isn't really something unique to Battlestars. Early BW2 art has a shadowed Galvatron ... this was also probably due to his colors being in question.
