Tankor to Warpath

I've been meaning to do this for months and I'm finally getting around to posting this.

As the title implies this is a repaint of Transformers Movie Legends for Revenge of the Fallen Tankor to Autobot Warpath.

On the left is the trusty 1986 G-1 Warpath, a purchase I made at an anime convention in Virginia Beach. I had Movie Legends Brawl, but I have different plans for that one's paint scheme. Our volunteer is Movie Legends Tankor, a repaint of Movie Legends Brawl.

I started with the legs, taking a precision screwdriver to Tankor/Warpath to disassemble him. The fun part was keeping track of the screws and rear road wheels. I did my best to avoid coating the tracks, which were already painted the desired color.

The arms were pretty easy.

At least I THOUGHT they were going to be easy... Detailing was a bitch. As you can see I painted the missiles, claws, secondary guns, bore evacuator, and main gun muzzle black.

The assembled turret. The gun lost some flexibility as a result of painting but it regained it with some use.

The torso was EVEN WORSE than the legs. A shot of tequila helped steady my nerves. I need to find an unused autobot sticker for Warpath's chest.

The final product. Much better than I thought it would turn out. I recently had to do some touchups as some paint had rubbed away.

I've learned a few lessons from this experience which will be used for future projects.

Always have a plan. You can't just slap paint helter skelter. Start on the larger surfaces before attempting the detailing. A steady hand is also a requisite. If you have to, and you're of age, a shot of alcohol works.

Do be sure you can keep track of all the parts, especially if there are screws involved. Not all of us keep mold kits on hand and Home Depot doesn't exactly carry the really small screws, as far as I know.

That's about all I can think to say.
