TF Prime Animators - trying too hard?

Postby Shockwave7 » Sat Mar 05, 2011 3:17 pm

I'll say at the outset - it's not just TF Prime that does this. Almost every CGI tv show does the same thing. The characters move too much.

Be they human or bot, each character wheels, bends and leans with too much exaggeration. If their animation was speech, they'd be screaming at the top of their lungs with every word.

If you guys who make the show are reading - amp it DOWN a little! Normal people don't leap like ballerinas when they're walking across the room to turn on a light. They don't pirouette and spin when opening a door. They don't ball up a fist and lean right into the face of anyone they're talking to. They don't wobble and twist all over the place while speaking.

There's one thing you TF Prime animators don't seem to grasp the concept of: SUBTLETY. Sometimes its more dramatic and realistic to have a character NOT bobbing, weaving, squatting and flailing when they speak. Small moves, Jodie Foster - small moves.

 I hadn't really noticed that so much but I'm sure I always will, now.
Just watched Convoy.I'm having trouble with the lack of denting in the fight scenes.
"Everyone has a hobby.Even people who say they don't still have one under another name.If we're sick, injured, we still go to it and get down to see how it is.If it needs something, we bring it,make sure the attention is perfect. It exercises our care and protection and gives us back philosophies. It's a living thing to us,and is the most perfect way to teach a young person how to be towards a living thing. It's something that should never be taken away."

The humans DO move awkwardly often, I've noticed this since the first episode. I think the robots are spot on though, it's a lot cooler to see them move around and seem organic to me.

I don't think so. It's a show aimed at kids and lets face it, kids today don't have the attention span of the children of the 80's or 90's. They need busy movement or it's not exciting. Story and cannon won't mean jack to them until they're late in their teens looking back at them.

I don't feel that everything is too... manic? Is that the right term I'm looking for? Ya, sure.

Anyways, from A apple to Z zebra babies firts pop up book is a fantastic read.

wait, what?

YES! This is why I never liked CG animated cartoons. They always move too freaking much! Is it so hard to have people sit still!?

Better than the awkward blocky movements that they had in Energon and Cybertron.
