I don't know about GI Joes but Masters of the Universe were built to do that.

Yeah did it with both, the MotU guys survied the experience, but the joes were used as land mine casualties.

I used to do the GI Joe wind-up thing for Hurricane Kicks. I couldn't get them to Hadoken, though.

Actually remembering back, my friends and I did do that but we twisted them a lot with arms outstrecthed or legs if we were doing kicks, so they'd make about 4 or 5 revolutions. Now that's Joe tough! As I recall Gung-Ho was very good at this for some reason.

We never broke any but my friend's older brother would take them apart and make "custom" GI Joes. Which reminds me of an auction I saw on ebay that had a listing for "Beautiful Mexican Masters of the Universe" that had all mismatched parts and supposedly came like that. They even included a list of all the characters the body parts came from but that is a whole different story altogether I guess. The part I liked best was that they were considered beautiful.

I once had a Darth Vader action figure given to me when I was a kid, though he was missing his cape. I liked him, and I would play with him whenever the Star Wars movies were shown on TV. Strangely though he started to give me the creeps, even though he was only 3 1/2 inches tall. I got so creeped out by him that I tried to "throw" him away by sticking him in an empty milk jug and putting it in the trash. He kept coming back though. I would find him a day later sitting somewhere. I did "succeed" though, but only after several tries. It was an '80s Vader toy, so he is probably worth a lot now, but I wish I hadn't done it anyway, even if he were to be worthless.

When my brother and I stopped playing with toys (we had gotten into music and girls) we gave all or our TF's to a kid down the street. We had Headmasters, Tarhetmasters, Gesalt Teams and other figures from 84, 85 & 86 up the wazzu and we gave them away! I should've had my a$$ kicked for that.

If I remember right Dirge had a rubber nose cone so it couldn't have been that bad. While the whole thought of it is disgusting, I can't help but laugh when thinking that the nose cone had a one in a million shot of lodging itself in just the right place on the waste to make it look like a genuine brown missle.

Actually while eating the nosecone couldn't have been the best decision, you always could have got it back.

Did you actually eat it, or just chew it up?

I chewed up a lot of my brother's Star Wars figures. Hey, I was like 2 or 3 and didn't know better! And Star Wars figures weren't that valuable in 87, plus they were well worn anway. But I still have several Star Wars figures with no feet, and I also distinctly remember chewing on some G.I. Joe figures too, and enjoying licking the screw in the back. Do not know why at all.

And did the Transformers escape this terrible chewing fascination I had? Nope! While there weren't as many Transformers as G.I. Joe and Star Wars figures, my Seaspray, which I still have, has bite marks on his feet. And he is prouldy displayed on my shelf as well.

Um... I never actually chewed on any of my toys, but my dog sure did. You couldn't leave anything on the floor unattended. Poor Bumblebee got chewed up and lost his hand and half of his head inside my dog's stomach.

The worst was when I sold my 30+ figure G1 collection at a garage sale for maybe $50.

Oh mine is worse. I sold so many Joes at a garage sale, including the Thunderclap. What the HELL was I thinking?
That was the best Joe toy besides the headquarters. I only have bits and pieces of that. I'm sure I didn't get anywhere near 50 bux for my Joes.

I sold almost all my Masters of the Universe figs to a mate for £60. They must have been worth £300 easy at the time, and just think what I could have got for 'em now, considering they were all pretty much mint... :-(

On the plus side, I saved eight of 'em. They later went to a friend for Christmas, 'cause she lost all hers in a house fire.

I don't remember doing much with my TF's aside from selling most of them in various yard sales, but there were plenty of other toys that had their fair share of dumbassery.

-A lot of my complete MOTU toys ended up getting traded off for other figures that were missing parts like arms & stuff.

-I had a bad habit of taking limbs off of my MOTU figures, such as Hurricane Hordak, who had a gold plastic torso, including the joint for his arms. Anywho....tried to pull it off, & the ball broke off in the socket.

-I sold a duffle bag full of Ninja Turtle toys(somewhere around 30 figures...maybe more)at a yard sale for about $15.

-Oh...almost forgot....even though I was in college at the time, & therefore dosen't actually count towards my childhood...I passed up just about all of Beast Wars just on the principal that they only made beast TFs & took out every other alt type....& IMHO, the variety of alt modes was what made the original series so great, & to strip it of all but one type ruined it.......but I did get TM Megs based simply on the fact that I never had a Megatron.

I hve & still do use different Sharpie colors to make some TFs' more show accurate. At some point, I colored too much, & then I couldn't get it off. I also have major battles w/the Autobots/Decepticons & the Maximals/Predacons & it ends up someone gets paint chipped ot the Transmetals lose their pretty shine. I was & still am a dumbass kid. But it's okay. I've never sold any my collection.

Not owning a single Transformer I had from '84-'88

Also having owned both a original Takara Laserbeak, and a Reflector, only to lose the damn thing a year later back in '84

Losing the original 1984 MIP Megatron because of overplay, and overuse.
