I used to own a couple of their CDs (all I could find at the time), but an arsehole dorm-mate of mine decided to nick them and call them theirs. Considering they doodled all over the front of them, I couldn't prove that bloody thief wrong either >_>'

That sucks.
Does anyone know why the guitarist went from Diamond darrel to Dime-bag darrel?

Didn't that have to do with his habit of smoking pot constantly?

Well, according to a former friend of mine, Dime-bag loved his herb, and I wouldn't put it past any of them to be smoking a little bit every now and then at least...
Coughler: I bet it is! I wouldn't know though, I haven't seen it yet. I want to, but have never been fortunate enough as to have come across it...yet. I'm still keeping both eyes out for it though.

Re: The OFFICIAL PanterA Thread !!!!
Pantera was beyond awesome. I have seen that band live 17 times in 2 countries. I had the honor of meeting and partying with Dimebag on SEVERAL occasions (One of the BEST humans to EVER walk this planet.) and, I have been friends with Phillip Anselmo for a while now who is too, one of my favorite people and one of the BEST frontmen heavy music has EVER seen. From Razor white
to Superjoint Ritual and DOWN. For me, thier just has not ever been a better, more well rounded heavy metal sound than the one produced by Pantera. Long live the memories and the music!

If you can handle the crime scene photos and the Phil-bashing by the media then yes. It was HARD for me to read however I owed it to myself as a Dime fan.

Uhh yeah, it was because of weed. Diamond turned to Dimebag. I have smoked with Dime on every occasion I have gotten to party with him. And Phillip had a Heroin problem back in 96-97 that caused some static between the members. We all have demons we have to conquer in life so you can't really hold that against him without holding against so many other great musicians. Phil is a good dude. One of the best. Trust me. He loved Dime like a brother and as much as anyone else who knew him. Phil was part of the reason Pantera disbanded he has admitted that. He wanted to pursue other projects outside of Pantera. I agree with his decision as hard as it was. Pantera went out on TOP. They never made 1 single song I could not listen to over and over and over. (Hell thier cover of "Cat scratch fever rivals Nugent!!!) I see bands like the Stones and KISS still trying to rock at their age and it is SAD. I am glad Pantera went out on a high note musically. It couldn't get any better than Reinventing the Steel anyways IMO.
I get tired of numb-nut people half-blaming Phil for all of the problems that plagued Pantera in the end. (NOT speaking to anyone in this thread or anyone in particular.) It was clear that Dime and Vince wanted to go in a more radio-friendly direction after Reinventing the Steel...Phillip, being the Heavy music Connoisseur he is just saw things diffrently. (Hence Superjoint Ritual whom IMO had an awesome sound.) While I LOVED Dimebag like blood, I was not a fan of the Damageplan sound.
Phillip is a great dude. He just went through some rough times. We all do.
And Dime smoked ALOT of weed ALL THE TIME! If ya didn't know him, get the Vulgar Videos from hell!!!

Dude, don't try me on this one. I knew em both. Dime and Vince formed Damageplan because The Abbotts and Phil were arguing over the future of Pantera. The Abbots wanted to make pantera weaker and radio frendly. Phil wanted Pantera to stay the course. Phillip stoped answering their phonecalls because their was no comprimise between the 3.
As far as the argument between Dime and Phil goes, it was between them as brothers. Phil said some harsh things and SO did Dime and Vince.
You mean to tell me you never argued with your brother/ loved ones before? Have you never said things you regret to a loved one? Don't Judge a man until you have walked in his shoes.
And SCREW the metal magazines writing in BS to sell copies. That happens ALL the time. Ask ANYONE in a major band. They will tell you.

Yeah, I really love tier music. No matter how 'heavy' metal tries to get Pantera will never sound old. Timeless music. Some of the most well orchestrated heavy music IMO. Hell, I can't even pick a favorite album. I love em all.

I don't listen to much Pantera but Dimebag was a great guitarist.
He didn't desrve the death he got, and his killer doesn't deserve the right to live.
Just like the bus driver that murdered my hero Cliff Burton.

Yeah. Dime was a 'once in a lifetime' rock star. He CARED bout all of his fans unlike ALOT of BS. rockstars of the day. He would sign autographs, take pictures, do shots of alcohol with, smoke weed with and give away free gear to fans all night.
Nathan Gale (Dime's killer) was shot in the face at point blank range by officer James Niggemeyer. Unfortunately I think death was the easy way out for that mentally-screwed individual. He should have had to suffer knowing he killed one of the greatest guitarist/ people who ever lived IMO. There were reports of showgoers and fans kicking his (Dime's killer)dead body around once he was shot by the officer. That was the only slight relief of that day. Dime will be missed.
I have often felt that metal was not the same after that. At least not for me. I could deal with no Pantera in hopes everyone would come to their senses and make one last badass album in the future. Dealing with no Dimebag Darrell has been hard for family, good friends and the best of fans. I will never forget his HUGE contribution to heavy music. Dimes music kept me alive during a very difficult part of my life.

I'm so un-educated when it comes to Pantera.
I always thought this was a cool (and kinda funny) pic though.
It's not news, but I'm just saying.
