It's no big deal to invent a location if you really want to. We've had 2 main areas thus far: 'Deceptibase' Tau and the Industrial Complexes around it, mainly Complex A5. If you just wanted a place to be you could make up another part of the Complex or a specific building to suit you.
Of course, the thing is that the point of the RPG is to interact with others, so being off on your own in a random place where no-one else has a reason to be is missing the point. I would reccommend you start in the main base and approach one of the groups already there (Read the thread and archives to see where). You can say that you've returned from a perimeter sweep or scouting or the like, and now are being moved to base duty.

If someone hasn't posted a reply in a thread for a long time, do we assume they are NPC's? Or, do we simply let the character fall into the background and assume they have been participating all along?

Along the same lines, do we assume that cannon characters that aren't currently being played by anyone are NPC's?

How long a time, and what character? It really depends on the situation, though if it's been a week or two I'd generally say it's more than safe to go ahead and proceed as if that person isn't there. Just interact with who's there to keep the action flowing.

I was thinking of Strafe. But wouldn't you know it, he's back! Good timing I'd say. What about the rest of the Technobots. Is it ok to NPC them until soemone applies? Or, should they jsut stay in the background?

I think Darkjet maybe MIA. since his last post was dec10th. He's listed as the player for semi-canon decepticon seeker Firebat.

Currently this character is on patrol with Thundercracker and Turbulence in the polyhex thread. Should this character be treat as an NPC?

They can stay in the background for now. The only reason the other Protectobots and Constructicons get NPC'd is because they're already full-blown gestalt teams. I'm sure someone will pick up the remaining Technos at some point; they've always seemed to be fairly popular characters.

Firebat can be NPC'd as needed (to go from Point A to Point B, etc.), but he needn't talk or do much beyond that. A simple "And Firebat followed the rest of the patrol" should do the trick where needed. ;)

Ok, I found myself with some time on my hands, and noticed that there seem to be a lack of Canon character being picked up. Not that fan characters are in any way bad, but the Canons already have established relationships and pecking order that helps them to slot in smoothly. They also have more ability to take part in certain storylines, particularly the ones involving new technology and the like.

Now it may seem like this list is repeating information that is available elsewhere, but I thought it would be nice to collate it all in one place to make it more obvious. This is no way is supposed to suggest people not check up the roster lists and rules sections themselves, it's only a guidepost to show what's there to be tried.

Also I should point out I have a horrendous bias towards quirky or unusual characters over ones that are just hero types with guns or angry loners.

I recommend http://www.tfu.info for getting stats for these, and the snarky yet informative transformers.wikia.com to learn more about them and what storylines they've been in in the past.

Fuzzimus Prime's list of Interesting Available Canon TFs

Aerialbots: Air Raid is a good choice for those who want to play a daring warrior who can fly, and Fireflight for those who want a foolhardy type that can get himself and others in a jam through sheer enthusiasm. Both have instant storyline potential as they're going to Earth shortly, and there's the future development of Superion to consider.

Technobots: Afterburner is your stereotypical Angry Autobot, Lightspeed is a starry-eyed guy for those who want to talk about 'after the War', and Nosecone is the completative type who thinks but is surrounded by a lot of unthinking action types. All have a potential future storyline in Computron. Right now they're one of the few big teams in Iacon, so they have some intrinsic military value.

Fembots: Arcee, Chromia, Firestar and Moonracer are available. I'd hardly say being a female transformer is particularly unique at this stage, but they do have immediate hooks in their 'Boyfriends' (Firestar x Inferno, Moonracer x Powerglide, Chromia x Ironhide, Arcee x Springer/Hot Rod/Chromedome/Anyone else who can talk tough).

Autobot Headmasters: While they don't yet have their Head gimmick, and there's no sign that they will anytime soon, there's still a large number of classic character you may remember from the Comics, like Brainstorm the ideas mech, Highbrow the condescending genius, Siren the Music-lover and of course, Nigthbeat the Private Eye (Trenchcoat not included). Don't expect your Nebulan partner anytime soon though.

Monsterbots: Repugnus is getting lonely....Grostusque is you happy-go-lucky type of guy, which Doublecross has split personality and can have long arguments with himself. Both should be pretty powerful (they are monsters).

Powermasters: Again, no partner, but there's an interesting set of character, with Getaway the escape artist, Slapdash the ditz, and Joyride the...Wildrider wannabe, from what I can see.

Autobot Pretenders: Again, you won't have your gimmick yet, but that storyline is proceeding and developments could be reasonably swift. Plus you've got such a wide range of personalities, from hypochondriac Chainclaw, big-talking Crossblades, two-brained Doubleheader, the guilty and insecure Gunrunner, the brash Landmine, the mad science type Pincher, the living-in-a-fantasy Sky High, and the thrill-seeking Vroom. How can there not be one of them you'd love to play.

Autobot Targetmasters: If you think you can make do with conventional arms (and everyone else does), the fussy arms specialist Crosshairs, the tired-of-war Pointblank, and the angry scientist Quickmix (with bonus ability to make stuff) would be interesting to see.

Other Autobots:
Everyone's favorite hipsterbot, Blaster.
The wierd-accented, space scout Cosmos.
The grumbling but ultimately jovial Gears.
The artistic engineer Grapple.
The friendly maintenance bot (and movie star) Hoist.
The adventurous master of holograms, Hound.
The endlessly complaining engineer Huffer.
The high-flying Powerglide.
The triple-changing, fearless scout Sandstorm.
The master of Land and Sea, if a little garbled, Seaspray.
The vain, slightly 'ho yay', Double-and-a-half-changer Tracks.
The WHAM noisy KAH-BOOOM never-say-quit YAZOWWWW Warpath.

The Combaticons: One of the best-equipped and trusted of the gestalt teams, it's just been revealed on the Polyhex thread that their Gestalt form is in the works. The lonely space-scout Blast-off, the sadistic interrogator Vortex, and the angry, violent, noisy Brawl (of mis-named in the movie fame), are all available.

Constructicons: One thing about playing a constructicon is that you'll never be just sitting around: Whether its building stuff or knocking it down, these guys are vital to the Decepticon war effort and are always in the middle of important matters. The demolionist Bonecrusher, the witch-with-his-own-cauldron Mixmaster, or the perennial underdog and scrounger Scavenger, are all available, and I can personally attest that they're fun to play.

The Monstercons: Without their pretender shells or their combining, they lose some uniqueness, but they're still playable.

Predacons: All of the Predacons bar Rampage are completely free, from the Stubborn-like-diamond Headstrong to the Happy Death-Pigeon Divebomb.

Seacons: The seas of Cybertron have been neglected it would seem: Perhaps taking one of these lovable fellows can change that?

Stunticons: If one wishes to take the over-achieving Drag Strip, then this team of psychos will be complete. Again, possibilities for future gestaltism.

Terrorcons: The contemptous Rippersnapper, the greasy Blot, the awesomely-names predator Sinnertwin, and the ultraviolent Cutthroat are all ready to monsterise the Decepticon offensive.

Decepticon Headmasters: Again, no Nebulans, but the orders-detesting Fangry, the proud-of-his-dirt Horribull, the 'Sabatouer' Squeezeplay, and the Triple-changing Horrorcons, the egotistical Apeface and the lazy Snapdragon, are ready to wreak havoc, most likely in the Tagan Hieghts with their pals.

Insecticons: The keep-shooting-till-there-only-smoking-legs Barrage and the manipulative Kickback are the 2 remaining of the recently-returned, specially-powered, kinda in trouble squad of vampiric assassins.

Decepticon Pretenders: With the Pretender process having been proven by the battle of Tagan, it's very likely that any of these characters, if active will go through the process of getting their shells fairly quickly. Thus the were-vampire thing Bomb-burst, the sometimes psychotic, sometimes noble Carnivac, the pirate-with-a-skin-condition Finback, the sadistic coward Roadgrabber, the psycho Skullgrin, the greedy Snarler, the ultimate heel Stranglehold, and the loner Submarauder could all end up some of the most impressive warriors in the Decepticon army!

The Premades: A Large number of interesting Seeker and Sweep ideas have been premade to help give more character options to players and fill obvious holes in the Decepticon ranks. If you were thinking of playing a flying decepticon, of any sort, it might be worth your while to check out viewtopic.php?f=179&t=13092, to see if something there fits you.

Decepticon Targetmasters: A wide variety of evil people who shoot things lie in this grouping, from the A-Team villain Misfire, the 'trendy' Needlenose, the raging berserker Quake, the 'duelist' Sluslinger, and the mysterious Spinister.

Other Decepticons:
The Triple-changing Transport Astrotrain.
The dumber-than-rust pyromaniac Cindersaur.
The double-trouble Flywheels.
The mysterious, ambitious Gutcruncher (Rank 10 and he comes with an awesome spaceship!!!! Er....maybe in another RPG.)
The Triple-changer rogue, Octane.
The Energon Baron and Conservationist, Ratbat.

Hello folks.

It's been a while, About 2 years, since i've been here and I've decided to come have some fun here in your RPG. I used to Play Cliffjumper but notice Cryohavoks got his paws on him. If hes willing to give him up I'd love to take him. If not I was looking to play one of my old fanmades , Pipes and posibly another canon Autobot. Any you guys need played?

**edit- Was reading through and it seems you got a mission going to earth. Would it be possible to get one of my bots on that mission? I really enjoy playing on earth, Something about Cybertron has never been fun for me.

I am not that attached to Cliffjumper that I couldn't give him away, heh. My posting with him has been rather limited anyhow.

I remember you playing the game at some point but not really how, heh. I'd like to see a sample post for Cliffy. Profile for him should exist so no need to do anything about that.

What comes to Cliffy's whereabout, he was last seen in the shuttle with Dinobots and LSC, anxiously waiting to get to the frontlines.

Long time no see Aeros. You used to play some Micromasters that were left to me when you left. Sadly, those aren't going to be included any time soon if at all. However, if you want a character or two that is heading to Earth, I do need an Air Raid or Fireflight. I'll let you get your feet wet before I expect any response about picking up either of those two. I just got back from my semester break where I had very limited Internet access.

While I am not going comment on your fan character app, I do think your sample writing is good enough to give you Cliffjumper despite the sample itself conflicting with the current game story. However, I expect you to do some background research to know what has been happening in Iacon and Nova Cronum at least to get a grip on the current setting of the game as many things have changed in past two years. Game was reset and started a new with somewhat different beginnings.

I had read the history and notes and know of the current story and really like the direction you guys are taking. The Sample post is only conflicting if he's not accepted. if accepted he'd already be on earth "Researching" before your autobots send your team to earth. Ranger would be unknown to any of the autobots of now because he was sent so long ago on a very quiet mission. Now with the autobots going to earth with very little info on the planet you wont have to rely on a human character to teach you like all the damned cartoons do. youll have another autobot.

Anyways again something i dreamt up. If hes accepted great, if not ohh well ill alter his profile and try to work him in elsewhere in the future.

Also Sumo I enjoyed playing the micros for the short time i did , and I will take Airraid off your hands if you want.

As said, I am not interfering or interrupting the fan app anyhow. But what I saw gave me good enough impression. Consider Cliffjumper yours if you still wish to play him. Too bad I steered him to direction of getting to frontlines with LSC, heh. An immediate transfer to Earth team won't be possible.

I just wanted to say how much fun it's been playing the game. It's been a perfect outlet for my TFandom since I don't like to drop money on the toys so much. Thank you to Devastron, Cryhavok, J Writer, and Philcom for keeping the game running smooth and fair.

Here's to hoping that the game sticks around for a long time to come and gains lots of new players.

Swoop and Slag are there and active, as are Wheeljack and I beleive Sludge. I don't think it'd be any more difficult than striking up conversation with some of them. Otherwise, walking into the base and 'finding' one of the groups of players (in the command centre and medbay) will work too.
