Ive been collecting transforms for several years now and have pretty much sold everything off aside from my entire classics/henkei/rts ect ect figures. Me and my wife are trying to get our very own house in the next few months and im really starting to wonder if i should keep on collecting anymore....
Basically this house will cost us £152953 which means that once we pay off the £6000 deposit + £800 for solicitors ect then we should have to pay £500 a month for the next 32 years and the house should be all ours.
Now the problem im getting is im an EX- toy reviewer. ive got a digital camera worth £300 and ive worked on about 4 other websites over the past but just dont do them anymore because i got fed up of people disapointing me or letting me down with promises not kept (long story) and now i dont do reviews anymore i find i get the figure, play with them alittle and then put them on a shelf were i dont do anything with them...this could be for months at a time really
now were trying to get a new house i just seem to be thinking about it all the time and how i want better things for our new house such as a 40 inche flat screen tv...but that would cost £300... and then theres this wall mural i want on the main wall in the living room...that would cost £90 ect ect the prices basically add up ALOT in short
I really do love my figures and playing with them but i find im getting them and just putting them on a shelf and not touching them anymore...
im starting to wonder if i should just pack it all in and use the money on our new house and better things for it.
I know in my heart i would miss them deeply because i like to look at them and fiddle with them from time to time. Im just wondering if its really worth it anymore because my wife says the money could be used for more practical things that we would use everyday such as a better fridge/tv/wardrobe
Im just after any advise from people who have been in the same situation as me and if you did sell all your tfs then what did you do afterwards?

I'm right there with you. We are trying to buy a house and I've wondered about selling off figures.
I always come back to the same solution. If I were to sell stuff, it would not be everything. I would keep my G1 stuff, MP's, and Classics. I could sell the rest of it and not feel too bad about it.
It seems like you aren't too attached to the whole line anymore, so maybe pick a couple of your favorite characters/molds to hold on to. You could certainly get some money for the rest. (If you have a Cliffjumper and a Smokescreen, I will take those
That way you still have some TF's to display or take off the shelf and play with once in a while.

I've debated selling off large portions of my collection before, and it usually ends with me wanting to save various figures for sentimental reasons until the number of figures being kept far exceeds the number being sold. I'm a Transformers collector, I will always be one. I may sell off a few figures that didn't hold me interest when I need some extra cash (or even to buy other TFs that I want). My advice is to start small, look through your collection and start picking out figures that you were disappointed in once you got them inhand or other figures that just dont ignite your TF passion anymore.

PLEASE do as I do,get rid of the suff you hate or outgrew or feel became obsolete/inferior due to a newer toy being better.
Please, don't sell nor get rid of the stuff you really love first, wait to sell this stuff dead last if you have to.

Yeah, as someone else posted previously, don't get rid of the one's you love the most. Get a extra couple, maybe two or three. Because once their, gone, you'll probably won't get them back. I hate selling my stuff, so I can only say from experience.

So,you want the guy who created this thread,to buy a few extra of the ones he likes??
The guy who created this thread,is trying to get some cash or get some space in his house. buying duplicates would make him spend more money & have less space in his house.

Re: Thinking about selling everything - need advise
I've been doing the same, but found out something quite fun at the same time.
Like you i'm trying to get some money together for a house, plan is to have a nice big sum in about 2 years.
I got my Tf's out of my mums attic, put all the ones that were boxed back up there, sat down and went through each one i had, all the ones that were complete i kept (for sale in the future) then all the ones i likes i also kept.
This shrunk the collection by about 1/3, which then went on ebay, single lots, and made me about £400 for about 40 odd figures, which wasnt bad as they were either incomplete or damaged.
This then led me to saving £200, and spluging £200 on Tf's, i boughts some lots of about 20-60 Tf's each for under £100, kept the complete ones, and the ones i liked, sold the rest, made another £400.
If you have the time clearing out your collection can result in money gains, and Tf gains, for instance i sold grimlock, slag, snarl sludge, all damaged, only sludge has his weapons, in lot for £80 (started at 99p) and went and bought masterpiece Grimlock.
at the end of the day it depends on what you want, and what time you have, i'd advocate keeping the ones you like, and going from there, good luck with the house hunt
