I do the same.
Plus, I am the father of 2 boys, and I can't imagine them having Christmas without presents or food, so we donate to a food bank and an Angel tree that my wife's studio runs (she is a ballet dancer/teacher).
The food bank one is a big one as well, because people are not just hungry at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but all year long.
A lot of the food banks can provide a family of 4 meals for a week off of a $20 food donation.

Yeah, now that I have a son, I know that I'll look at donating in a different light. It makes you look at things completely differently.
