Looks like a good mold, but I think the robot mode is still mistransformed. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like the plastic might be a pearly grey, which is better than flat grey, but still not nearly as good as silver paint would have been. In terms of repaints, we already know about the black one, and I'm hoping it gets a new head and is repainted in a G1 Dead End color scheme. I'm planning to get two normally colored ones and one black one. One of the grey ones will be my DOTM Soundwave, and the grey vehicle mode parts of the extra one will be combined with the black robot mode parts of the other to make a custom character.

Only part I'm unhappy with are his legs, especially his lower legs. Those flat fold-out feet just look like lazy, uninspired design work, especially after DotM produced beautiful figures like deluxe Topspin and LC Sentinal Prime.

He may be smaller but I like his overal look vs ROTF soundwave imo. I Dont like the upper leg/knee joint it looks too filmsy, reminds me of 06' barricades flip out hand joint.

This is part of a new marketing strategy on Hasbro's part. Sell the unpainted figure with an image on the package back showing what it SHOULD look like. Then sell a seperate set of paints for that character for $9.99, thus doubling the asking price for a deluxe without actually marking up the price of the figure itself!

For a $10 toy, it looks cool to me! I'd rather have this and $20 left to spend on something else, as opposed to spending $30 on the HA version.

We have a few additional in-hand images of Transformers Dark of the Moon Deluxe Class Soundwave courtesy of TFW2005 member Soundwavedotm. Dare I say this thing looks better than the $29.99 HA soundwave toy in robot mode. it would be kinda funny if both the deluxe $ 29.99 ha soundwave robot modes were the same exact height.

No,I still don't plan on buy this in deluxe or $29.99 HA toy forms.

The lack of paint applications is just SAD. I realize that his head, rims, taillights, speakers and bellybutton are painted but they only serve to highlight the fact that the gray plastic looks like crap. Maybe Hasbro figures they can save money by having us paint him?

Looks better than the first few pics we saw. I think the shoulder kibble was handles a bit better.

Still, the roof/ass plate needs to be dealt with.

Well, the new images show that at least the ball joint can be rotated so he's not permanently monkey armed. But that serious lack of paint is just killing me. It's the one thing that is really making it difficult to like this figure.

What is it with Hasbro and Soundwave, one of TF's more iconic characters. We hear that there is a new Soundwave coming out, and we're like "yaaay", and then we actually see it and it's like "awwww crap". This happens repeatedly. Why can't they get him right?
