He's fun, and yes it's a good transformation for the vehicle front. And I think it's pretty clever how his Cyber Key jack does a different thing in either mode.Emerje wrote:Dirt Boss is an underrated figure. It's fun and more figures should have a similar transformation for a vehicle front end.

Thanks to the generosity of a friend, I got this lot. Energon Leader-class Megatron, complete except for Rumbler's cannon and missile, Cybertron Deluxe class Brimstone (who goes for an obnoxious amount - like, getting a bodily complete one singly would have cost about as much as this lot did - on his own with all his limbs, and also seems eBay-rare) minus key, and the Dark of the Moon Target-exclusive silver tattoos redeco of RotF Voyager Starscream. That last one, I consider the free soup and salad of the lot. Might trade or regift, but I might keep him too - he's growing on me.
With Energon Megs in hand, I reflect once again that the new SG Megatron should have been made from TR Galvy rather than trying to shoehorn SIEGE Megatron into the job. TR Galvy's transformation would actually work with being converted into an approximation of Energon Megs. The feet and kneepads would end up on the wrong ends of the altmode, but still.

I'll do you one better and say they should have used the Super Megatron retool. They had already budgeted for a higher price, might as well use a mold that has a proper jet mode with wings that are pretty similar to the Cybertron figure, too. I'm sure they could explain the tank mode, extra face and chest away in the comic, maybe even take a note from that G1 prototype and sneak Galvatron in there, too.

Oh yeah, forgot to say I had a little bit of good luck at Target this morning. Got me a SS86 Core Rumble for the current price of $8.49 which is a great price for a new core figure. Also they've finally got Earthspark figures, but all they had was one Deluxe Twitch, one Warrior Skywarp and one Optimus with the mini figure. Picked up Twitch for the current Target price of $19.99, plus got the 5% off with the Red Card.

1. You mean EnergonEmerje wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:With Energon Megs in hand, I reflect once again that the new SG Megatron should have been made from TR Galvy rather than trying to shoehorn SIEGE Megatron into the job. 2. The wings are kinda similar, but some of the other changes are a move further away from the 'rightful' design (mainly because you lose the Galvatron chest and such).
It wouldn't be hard at all to add wings to just the base TR Galvatron mold, there's extant slots & pin sockets you could use. And then you'd change out the back spar for a new one based on Energon Megs' forward fuselage, new paldrons w/gun mounts (dropping the arm cannon to free up room), probably change out the Titan Master socket for a foldaway head, and ideally but not necessarily new forearms. Would be a few more new parts than what they made for the SG Megs we did get, but it would work much more successfully than that.
They could... although the Pulse SG comics ignore the Funpub ones anyway don't they?Emerje wrote:I'm sure they could explain the tank mode, extra face and chest away in the comic, maybe even take a note from that G1 prototype and sneak Galvatron in there, too.

I do agree that using the Super Megatron mold would be much less of a joke than trying to shoehorn SIEGE, though.

Yeah, Energon, not sure why I said Cybertron.
How near or far Hasbro got from the FunPub SG story seemed to depend entirely on the limitations of the current stock of toys to choose from and nothing more.

Hauls for the month, yeah the month's not over but I don't see myself getting anything in the next day and a bit.
Mostly just playing catch up to fill a couple of gaps.
Prime was an Op (Thrift) shop find for $4. No way I would have paid full retail when it first came out, definitely a figure for the younger kids in mind (though even then it feels a little TOO simplified).
Fasttrack because ... Scorponok demanded.
Gen Selects Hubcap because ... reasonably cheap.
WFC Apeface because ... already had Snapdragon. Really need to get the G1 versions of these two.

Got Legacy Deadend today from AmiAmi. Since it's basically impossible to find anywhere at a decent price I pre-ordered a Takara Tomy one and added it to the rest of my monthly orders which didn't have much of an effect on the shipping and actually cost less than the Hasbro price (2,960JPY or under $21).

My haul over the last week, as a result of multiple orders coming in at the same time.
At the end of December, my brother and I peeped into the comic store with a used TF section. There was a G1 Kup, dirty but intact, although with what turned out to be Twin Twist's weapon. I passed at the time, but later realised that with Retro "pink" HotRod coming out, I had the chance to put both G1 figures together. So last week I went back. He was sill there, so I brought him home and cleaned him up.
With the new Junkions coming out, I decided to get Wreck-Gar while he was still around on BBTS. I also saw that the Astro Squad were on sale, so I finally sprung for them as well, as well as one-step Wheeljack, because 'why not'. And in anticipation of the new Super Mario movie, I threw in a figure of my favourite Mario character, Yellow Toad, just because.
I ordered Getsuei from TFSource while they had a deal going on. And Minerva decided to become available this week, so I figured I should move quickly. She arrived this morning.
A very spendy last couple of weeks, so I'm self-imposing a 'No unnecessary purchases" rule this month. But you all know how those tend to go...

They're pretty neat! Their transformations are a bit more involved than typical micromasters, they'e very nicely detailed, Fuzer is even armed. And the shuttle mode is very nice, and the novelty of being approved by NASA is certainly appealing. I don't usually collect micromasters, but I like these guys. The only problems I've had is that Blast Master's leg likes to wriggle itself off of the ball joint, but that's pretty standard for micromasters (and ball joints in general) as far as I'm aware. The package was partially unsealed from the card when they arrived as well, but I wasn't concerned about that.
I actually got them as part of the assortment with the Race Track Patrol for my brother since I owed him, so even though I got them on sale I still effectively paid regular price for them alone. Considering this, I'm still satisfied with the purchase and enjoy adding them to my collection.
I say if you like micromasters or space-themed Transformers, then this pair is fun and a good experience even at full price, and on sale, definitely.

Yes, I'm a big fan of shuttleformers, the only one I haven't gotten so far is Siege Astrotrain and Galaxy Shuttle. Still might change my mind on Shuttle, because of the colors and because he'll never see the train mode. I just never saw the Astro Squad anywhere, unless they were online exclusives? I know Amazon had them.

They were main line figures for Earthrise, but we all remember what happened with Earthrise's distribution in 2020. I don't recall ever seeing them either.

The latter if someone makes a kit or I can figure out a way. But also because I didn't want to pay for shipping and preferred paying $52 for two than $35 for one.
