Transformers Voice Actors

Postby Saber Prime » Wed Jun 27, 2007 2:53 am

I'm wondering, considering so many voice actors in Transformers do voices for multiple characters, who does the most?

There are alot of Voice Actor who only do one character in the Transformers universe like Lenord Nemoy (Movie Galvatron) but others like Peter Cullen and Frank Welker did the voices for large majoritys of the cast.

For some reason I'm thinking if you counted up every Transformer character a voice actor did and ordered them by number of characters Frank would be at the top of the list.

Off the top of my head I can name Megatron, Series Galvatron, and Unfortunatly Wheelie as Frank Welker but I know that doesn't even really scratch the surface.

Basically think of it this way, if Hasbro desided to do an Aniversery series of single episodes, each one featuring a single Voice Actor and every character from Transformers he/she's ever voiced what episode would have the most characters in it?

-=edit=-

Oh yeah, just in case I'm not perfectly clear, we're only counting their credits in the Transformers (This does include human characters) series. We're not counting ALL their characters from other shows so no listing Fred from Scooby Doo under Frank Welker. He did do Fred's voice but Fred was never on Transformers.

That is a tough question. I have heard Hotshot's voice many times.

Peter Cullen didn't actually do many - as far as I can think it was only Prime and Ironhide.

Frank Welker, you're right, did a ton. In the movie alone he did six characters, and there were plenty more that he did in the 'toons, including Galvatron. He probably did most of the non-speaking TFs as well. He's well-known for his vocal effects - I think he would have done the likes of Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Steeljaw, Ravage (who, fair enough, did speak once...), Ramhorn etc.

Michael Bell and Neil Ross were both prolific lads as well.

Nowadays it's Scott McNeil who's the busy one... but given that he's worked over pretty much every reality since Beast Wars, it's possible (even likely) that he may even top Frank on the list.

Yeah... Leonard Nimoy did him in the movie, but when it went back the series, Frank took over the role.

It's true he is credited for all of the non speaking cassets allthough I'm fairly sure the only time Ravage ever talked was in Beast Wars and that was Lee Tockar who voiced him then.

It's listed twards the bottom of the casting credits if you care to look. http://www.bwtf.com/bw/tvshow/cast.shtml

And what about Susan Blu (most well known as G1 Arcee) she seems to pop up as some character or another in every series. Allthough I don't think she's really done that many total voices but she has been involved with Transformers from G1 to present day it seems.

-=edit=-

Actully I just took the liberty of looking her up. Apperently she only did G1, Beast Wars, and Beast Machines and she was only the voice director for Beast Machines she didn't play any characters herself.

There's really only one character she could voice in Beast Machines... Botanica, but Sue's doesn't appear to be credited for her.

Next to Mel Blanc, Frank Welker is the voice acting god of Hollywood. Megatron, Soundwave, the Cassettes, Thrust, Wheelie, and a number of others, including Autobots. And Galvatron is the second character Welker has shared w/Nimoy (Frank did Spock's scream I think). That man is a legend.

I don't recall Susan Blu doing voices for Beast Wars either. She was in charge of casting and voice direction, but as far as I know didn't actually act herself.

And Ravage did speak once in G1, in More Than Meets The Eye. Remember when he 'escapes' from the Autobots and reports what he's found out regarding the rocket base? He's playing in tape mode, but it's clearly his own voice, since he wasn't repeating anything anyone else had said.

Check the link I posted before. Susan did the voices for Transmutate and Una. (one of the monkey child thingys)

I thought that was just Soundwave talking?

While were're on the subject of Soundwave it seems in Cybertron EVERYONE does Soundwave. There's Soundwave's real voice (or his suposid real voice, could just be a voice he heard on the radio sence he reminds me more of G1 Wreck-Gar than Soundwave) and then there's his ability to copy the voices of everyone elce on the show.

The way they did this I think was done only so the audience could tell when it was Soundwave talking not anyone elce. The actor playing Soundwave and all the other voice actors would talk through a voice sythisiser (spelling?) when it was Soundwave talking. This was preddy clear in the episode both Hot Shot and Soundwave were talking to Scattershot in Hot Shot's voice each one trying to convince Scattershot the other was a fake. Scattershot didn't seem to notice but the real Hot Shot spoke in a perfectly clear voice. Soundwave's copy voice sounded like Hot Shot talking through a fan while it's turned on. He still had that synthetic voice effect that he has in his regular voice.

Anyway Cybertron may look like Soundwave but he talks like Wreck-Gar. He speaks radio like Wreck-Gar speaks TV. Everything Soundwave ever said was like something a radio DJ would have said. Especially his line before Megatron turned into Galvatron "Megatron's twekin' 'cause he got served." Yeah there's no doubt about that guy, he definatly ain't the Soundwave we all grew up with.

Ah, right, didn't realise that. I didn't click the link, I'm afraid.

Nah, he sounds nothing like Soundwave. And he's clearly got his growl on.

OK a little off topic but who's bright idea was it to stick a big Seibertron.com logo over the top of the last post in every topic so no one can read it?

Anyway back on topic, I gotta watch that episode again.
