Ultimate Bumblebee

Postby Delphi » Wed Sep 26, 2007 4:23 pm

I got the Ultimate Bumblebee in the mail yesterday. Been waiting for him since July when I pre-ordered it from Amazon.

I am disappointed.

I thought there be more to him. The sounds don't bother me, what bothers me is that there is no articulation, arms or legs. It's hard to believe that this is an action figure.

I wanted to at least be able to pose him in different ways and even use him in some of my stop motion animation flicks. Well, that's not going to happen.

The "Try Me" button doesn't seem to do anything.

Any one else have this guy already? What are your gripes, I am sure you will have some.

It was never meant to be an action figure like other Transformers.

I see your point. My erroneous expectations got the best of me and, obviously, I didn't do enough research before I bought him. My bad.

I had one pre-ordered from Amazon.com way back in early July, last week it finally arrived. I played with it in both modes, and I was stuck in between love/hate.

Today seeing the 25% off coupon code from HTS and it struck me that figures like this (as well as price point), I should wait for clearance at $25-$50 price range. So I'm sending it back (please don't ask me how, I have my way, hehehe).

Goodbye UBB! *wave*

I'd buy it if it's less than $30. After seeing the transformation and articulation from various sources and reading the feedbacks from other owners, $79 is a scalper price to me. The only element I love about this toy is his size and the car mode.

I like him, and once you have him out and about and play with him, he will grow on you, the toy has character, something that has been lacking from many of the movie toys.

Good chance your "try me" button is misaligned. In robot mode it's actually a little bit of a struggle to get the chest/bonnet button to work correctly, try pressing the yellow button underneath the bonnet. It works fine in alt mode though. You have put him into his proper play mode by turning him "on" right? Try me mode is crap, you get all the bells and whistles once he is on though.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

Just thought that I should clarify.

The promotional material does state that the Ultimate Bumblebee is an action figure. So I wasn't entirely wrong to think and ultimately be disappointed that he is not indeed an action figure.

That goes for both the Hasbro and Amazon.com promotional materials.

I like UBB... granted in terms of playability, I prefer Deluxe concept BB... but ultimate BB is pretty darn cool in terms of size and novelty... plus who doesn't like a big yellow camaro on their coffee table? :P

as for the price... below $30 for this thing is impossible when voyagers are $20 and leaders are $40... heck, even 20th Anniversary Prime is anywhere between $50-$70... so $80 brand new is okay for now... but I think it would be less of a shelfwarmer if UBB was in the 50-60 range...

but I can't complain... my wife bought me UBB for my birthday...
