Universe Ironhide Head Question
Just got Universe Ironhide, it his head suppost to look a little tucked down in robot mode, or do I have him transformed wrong (just doesn't seem all the way up, but I don't want to force anything). All the pictures that I have seen have it kind of looking down (although most appear to be stock photos and we all know how well they are transformed in those). Watched a video review and still can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.

I haven't got him yet
but from what I hear, that is the way they are. I've seen a video on YouTube showing what he looks like after a little shaving and trimming of the plastic behind his head.*looking for the link*

It's just the way the head looks. I'm sure Jin or someone of that ilk will come up with a quick fix for us.

Hey Barrelass,
You reside in the states? If so, where at?
I'm getting antsy for this wave and am ready to start huntin'.
Thanks!

Have the same problem. The only way I found on helping his head get up further is actually to leave the rear wheels and bumper in their alt-mode position. Don't bother flipping the wheels around. This actually makes him around 1 cm taller. only downside is that because the rear bumper isn't flipped up, the autobot symbol doesn't show.

Yea, I live in Washington State. They have started to hit the Walmarts around here. Went on a midnight run and busted open a case that looked like it was going back on the pallet because the shelves were already full. I also think they are still in stock at HTS, and with that 20% off it is a pretty good deal.
As far as the head goes, I did the same thing as rouelxprss did (not sure if you read my post on the TFW Ironhide review thread on that one). I think the window thing is a small price to pay to get the height and get the head to pop up a bit more. Thanks for the input everyone.

I picked up all three Wave 3 Universe deluxes last night. And as far as I was able to tell there is no way to have Ironhide be taller or looking upwards more except to not fold the wheels in like Barrelass said.
I refuse to do any shaving of any plastic because I don't want to ruin the figure or mess up his car mode. Even with his head slightly down (Movie Wreckage anyone?) and his face a shade of blue he is still a very impressive figure in my book.
I'm glad I didn't aggressively pursue the Towline repaints into Ironhide and Ratchet because the Universe design is better in my opnion.

I can't wait to see this wave get into stores here. I've been looking forward to an Ironhide for a long time. I wish we knew if there was going to be a Ratchet states-side, I have a pre-order for the Henkei one at the moment.

He should be in Wave 6.

Oh the head thing is driving me nuts. I'm gonna be modifying him, maybe even tonight. I wanted to keep him as is, but that head is just bothering me to no end. Plus I have to paint his face...I have to.

Anyone have a status update on fixing Ironhide's head so that it will popup properly? I'm surprised this got out of quality control. Seems like there should have been a piece that rotated inside or something so that the connection point between his waist and torso wouldn't push up against the inside of his lower torso area.
I'm working on galleries for the new figures but I'd be willing to push off completing Ironhide's gallery if someone has a fix.
** Keeps fingers crossed **

Re: Universe Ironhide Head Question
The "Fix" without Shaving or cutting anything.
1. Keep the Wheels in their alt-mode position
2. Keep the bumper on the front flipped out
3. Flip down the crotch
This gives the head a lot more room to flip out, though it's not out all the way, it is a lot better without having to cut anything out.
As for cutting, I really have no clue what should be cut, I'll leave that to Jin or someone
Sorry for the blurry photos.

Edit: a bit of a better photo showing everything on Ironhide

2 tips for your camera:
1. Use the macro setting (it is usually indicated by a flower icon). This is probably the single biggest thing that I see people not doing with the photos that they share on this site.
2. If you have controls to adjust the focus, change it from multi focus to center focus or the adjustable focus.
Thanks for sharing the alternate transformation pics, Senor Hugo.

I think I would add...
3. Please remove any carebear figures before taking the picture.
In all seriousness, thanks a lot, man. I was starting to think I wouldn't get Ironhide due to the head issue, now I'm leaning towards taking the plunge.

One thing I noticed in your picture is Ironhides gun. You didn't flip the hand in, but it looks straight. Is that just the "magic of the camera" or is there another fix for that too?

With a bit of jiggling, you can slide the hand inside the gun without folding it, and it will snap in place.
It takes a few practice runs to get it right, but once you figure out how to slide it over the hand, it works well.

Hmmm, that's good to know. Last time I held Ironhide it was the prototype from TFCon. I thought there might have been a way but I didn't want to destroy a prototype infront of the big wigs at Hasbro Canada.

Wouldn't work. Let's face it, it's a proven fact that Hasbro watches the boards. By now, someone in the company knows that people are complaining about the quality control, but nothing's being done. The paint apps are still awful, the paint is still tacky, the joints are still loose, the design flaws are still flawed, and no amount of complaining will change it.
As hard as it is to imagine, the only thing we can do is boycott sales for a while and not buy anything, and when asked why, we'd say "QC needs fixed. Badly." Then, and only then...they might do something about it.
For the most part, they're doing a pretty good job, but there are those straggler figures and designs that just make you go "hmm..."

Oddly enough, the windows don't bother me as much as they should, even though I don't like the Allspark Power baby blue paint. Although, the face...unforgivable. I had to paint that silver.
