I got my Ironhide tonight and didn't have some of the problems other mentioned.

Of course, I transformed him without instructions and just kept fiddling around until he looked close enough to his pic for my taste. Geekee1 has seen me do this before in person, if you were there, you would have cringed, man.

One thing with the head though is it does sit a lot better if I lower his ummmm...pelvis just a tad. Only problem with that is he looks a smidge like Titanium Soundwave in that regard.

Well, I'll tell you guys what NOT to do. Don't buy the Bic Permanent markers, color his face gray, realize it was a mistake and then use Goo Gone Extreme to remove the marker which in turn removed the paint beneath AND started to melt his face. Oops. Guess I won't be finishing Ironhide's gallery for a little while.

You know Ryan you could turn that into a neat "death of Ironhide" figure with some extra work now.

In all seriousness, thanks a lot, man. I was starting to think I wouldn't get Ironhide due to the head issue, now I'm leaning towards taking the plunge.

Don't be hating on the Care Bears, otherwise someone is due for a Care Bear Stare and/or Beatdown. Though I'm surprised Cobra Commander riding an Arcanine wasn't mentioned.

But I ended up shaving the area on his spine that apparently is one part of the problem using one of my X-acto knives. Doing this got the transformation to the point where his bumper can still fold up, and the head will be at the same point it was without having shaved any plastic down. Though the tires still have to be kept in the vehicle position.

Also, with the hand and gun issue. I just forced the sucker onto his hand, it fits nice and snug now.

Also, Ryan thanks for the camera tip. These next ones came out a lot better.

I haven't shaved the part on the crotch, or more on the spine piece, since I only have an X-acto, and don't normally do anything to fix my figures(this one just had to be taken care of)



The black circle is where I ended up shaving off some of the plastic.

I decided to dissect Ironhide today to see just how bad the problem with his head is.

So I pulled him apart at the waist.

The entire spine for both sections of Ironhide are two of the problems. The third being the wheels themselves.

If everyone were to pull apart Ironhide at the waist like I did. You would see that upon flipping the cab of the van down, Ironhide's head pops up all the way just fine, so long as the wheels are mistransformed by being left in alt-mode.

Looking inside of Ironhide shows that the upper part of his spine is bent at an angle with the peg that fits into the lower half of his spine points directly towards the bumper.

So, with both halves together, there is no possible way for Ironhide's head to be up all the way.

The only fix I can even wrap my head around would be major kitbashing done to the spine itself, but the problem with that is that the spine was molded in such a way to specifically fit in that area that allows the windshield and bush-guard to flip down.

It really is a horrible design flaw on Hasbro's part.

It'll take some major innovation on the Kitbasher's part to be able to provide a good fix to this.

And hopefully Hasbro takes the mold back to the drawing board to provide a fix for Ratchet.
