Neither did I and I actually preferred it. In some ways it made meal planning easier but eating at other people's houses way more difficult (family in particular).
See, I have that conversation with a lot of people: don't think about my choices, they're mine, and I will sort myself out around them. It's nice if we can all eat together, but I'm just going to eat bread and veggie sides, that's ok too - we're still at the same table!
Obviously, if we're going out for a meal I'd rather not go to a steakhouse or grill or fish place, but I can always find something for myself without being a bother to the others.
(of course, this doesn't always work with an Italian family, but to their credit, they have varied what they eat a lot more since I moved back in the country, and there's a lot more veg going round)
