war within grimlock question

Postby shortround » Sat Aug 25, 2007 7:32 pm

Is this another one of those alternate reality things were the dinobots weren't created on earth. Because I always thought that dinobots were built on earth during the war with megatron, and I thought the constructicons were the ones that migrated to earth to find megatron.

The Dinobots were only created on Earth in the G1 cartoons. Every comic continuity from Marvel through to IDW has had them existing prior to this and from Dreamwave onwards they have been known as Dynobots in their pre Earth forms.

He looks like a modified WWI Megatron in some ways. Hmmm... :-?

If you want exciting track down the War Within comics. Easily the best thing to come out of the time that Dreamwave had the license. Spotlight Shockwave is worth a look too for the IDW version of how the Dynos came to be the Dinos, nice tip of the hat to Beast Wars in that one.

I was always of the idea that the Dynobots were on the Ark in the forward section. There bodies smashed and destroyed but Wheeljack and Ratchet rebuilt them into the Dinobots. The Ark was frikn' huge and they only show like 3 rooms so it's not so outlandish and it could explain where the new Autobots like Blaster, Warpath and Tracks came from.

Likewise, Megatron's comments about building the Constuctions in the cartoon, I always took it to be that they were rebuilt and had their personalities installed kinda like how Starscream revived the Combaticons.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

To add to what waaaaghlord said, Even their toy stechspec bios refer to them having originated on Cybertron; particularly Snarl's bio. It specifically states that he hates the mode he was given when he came to Earth. here is the bio:
An unhappy loner of few words and fewer opinions. Finds joy only in battle. Hates his Dinobot form, longs to return to Cybertron. Large golden plates on spinal assembly are solar collectors... strength increases tenfold in sunlight. Tail can shatter 20 foot concrete cube. Armored hide resists most missiles. Vulnerable to nighttime attacks due to his weaker state. Slow... uncooperative nature hinders others from helping him.

As you can see from Snarl's bio, he was originally from Cybertron, and wishes to return. All of the Dinobots originally came from Cybertron. Also, according to the DW comics, the Dinobots came to Earth after the Ark left. And had, in fact, come following the insecticons in search of the missing Autobots and Decepticons. This is explained in issue #8 of the ongoing series. They landed some time in the prehistoric past while the TransFormers on board the Ark were in stasis lock buried in the mountain side.

I always wanted to know what the Dyno stood for in Dynobots...

Dynamic?
Dynamo?
Dynamite?

I know it's just a play on Dinobots, but there could be some semi-decent meanings behind it.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.
