What got your into Transformers?

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

iwas also born in the 80's and i think my bed covers had something to do with it... I wonder what ever happened to them :-?

My first toy memory was OmegaSupreme  He walked and everything... until my neighbor played with him, then he walked in circles...

Oh and there was this cartoon that would come on to... :P

I think i was around 5 years old when i first time saw TF The ultimate Doom 1-3 on vhs with a horrible danish dub, they did called Optimus Prime 'Primus Optimus'. But i took this into my heart, to bad it was my 'worst enemies' vhs so i couldn't see it anymore. But then! A few years after my cousin gave me all hes old Transformers! On that time i didnt knew there names.

Darkwing
Spinister
Quake
Quickmix
Guzzle
Fizzle
And a micromaster plane.

I was so happy for them, well they was all incomplete and i did broke them damn fast, but i still have them this day! And i still love them!

Okay i think i was around 10-11 years old here. I got the Transformers More than meets the eye ep 1-3 on vhs! I watchet it over and over again! A few weeks later i picked up the Ultimate doom vhs. On this time i was a Dragonball fan.

And now the rip there changed me into the geek i am today!
I think i was 12 years when i saw the first Transformers Energon commercial on Cartoon network! I was so upset! My old favorites would return! - Armada didn't showed up in Denmark, only as figures -

I watchet the first episode " Cybertron city "... and i was sold!
For christmas ... i got the Transformers Energon Optimus Prime! ... Best christmas ever ...

And thats my story.

What got me into Transformers was a friend I grew up with in the same neighborhood. One day he asked me if I was going to watch The Transformers on TV and I said, "The what...?" We went down the street to another friend's house and they were showing the first episode. Things went from there when I learned there were toys of them. My first transformers included Optimus Prime (I paid $50 to a neighborhood kid who cheated me out of the box and accessories), Wreck-Gar, Squeezeplay (who I still have), Thundercracker (no accessories except his wings), Slag, Powermaster Optimus Prime, The Stunticons (except Wildrider). I actually managed to buy several of them from the stores since I had a paper route at the time.

I was born in the 90s, so I was gifted with Beast Wars. I saw a commercial for it on FoxKids with animals transforming into robots, and I immeadiately got into it.

I was heavy into Jurassic Park and dinosaus in general when Beast Wars started. I got Dinobot, and from there I was kinda hooked... I'd been aware of transformers before, but that was what made me finally give in. I stubled onto a newsgroup, I satrted watching the cartoons and reading too reviews... Before I knew it, I was heavy into the fandom.

My earliest TF memory is watching it with my cousin as he and I clutched, respectively, Soundwave and Starscream. Even though I casually watched Beast Wars and Sci-Fi's G1 reruns, I'd thought I'd grown out of the show... until the Great Transformers Massacre. I came home to find my dad had thrown out my TFs "to make room in the attic" and sobbed all night (if you'd asked me the morning before if I'd react that violently to losing them, I'd have found it unthinkable... isn't that strange?). So when, about a year later, I found an Armada Starscream- color scheme aside, fairly identical to the one I'd lost- I didn't think, I just bought it. Then I kept going back until I'd bought everything around it (including the tail-end of the RID line). Then when the G1 DVDs were released, I marathon-watched them a disc a day and wondered, "Grown out of this? Where was my brain?"

I've liked Transformers ever since I can remember, but I was born in 1993 and didn't really know much about it when I was young, I just thoght that anything with giant robots that change into cars had to be cool! And then when I was about five I started watching Beast Wars. And I started buying loads of the toys. Well, actually I threw a tantrum until my parents bought me the toys. And then after Beast Machines had finished I kinda for got about it. And then I watched Armada for a bit, but didn't enjoy it that much until a couple of years later when I found out about the movie and I have been frantically catching up with Armada, Energon and Cybertron ever since. Although I wish I hadn't bothered with Cybertron...
So now I'm back in love with Transformers and hope never to fall out of it again!

I caught what was left of G2, and then bought a G1 tape from Woolworths. It had The BB of 2006 and Call of the Primitives on it. From there I watched all of the Beast Wars, what I could of Beast Machines, and I bought the G1 box sets and saw all of the Unicron trilogy. I still remember waking up early to watch Rid before school.

I bought a lot of tfs over the years. But my collection has got some ways to go before it is deserving of a photo album.
I think I have 96 last time I checked.

My mother brought me home Bumblebee from our local Albertsons supermarket back in late 1984. I liked that little guy so much that my next acquisition turned out to be Shockwave!

From there on, my collection grew like a blizzard-spawned snowball. By 1987 I had discovered girls and the sounds of bands such as Death, Possessed, Dark Angel, and Kreator. Pretty much sold off my entire collection after that.

Now, I can have my cake... and eat it too. ;)

I read the thread title as "What got into your Transformers?"
much like those late 90's commercials peddling cat food that say "What's got into that cat!? FRISKIES!!!"

Gave me a giggle.

I got into Transformers when I was 5 and had some sort of small metal jet that turned into a robot. It was my favorite toy and hung out with my ponies. One day my dad discovered it and snapped it in half, insisting I play with only girl toys and that was the end of it until I hit my 20's and met my boyfriend who was a collector. It was interesting, unearthing that memory while fiddling with a Starscream and thinking "Heyyyy I remember you! You used to hang out with my horses!"

My mum used to watch it in her late 20's, she always liked cartoons, so, yeah, I was raised on that and TMNT. I believe I have over 300, 400 including Minicons. Pretty good for a 19 year old I must say. ^^

About fifteen years ago, at least, I saw 'Fire in the Sky' and 'Divide And Conquer', along with 'The Return of Optimus Prime', which was billed as the sequel to the movie. This got me into it big-time, but I had no access to the series beyond those three things, and no information save that which I could glean from what I saw. This led to a VERY twisted interpretation of G1.

Here's how I initially thought things went.
1. Galvatron came first, and resigned after the events of 'The Return of Optimus Prime'. Megatron had been his second in command, so Galvatron's departure left him as top dog.
2. No Autobot could fly. Any flight-capable Autobot had to be a former Decepticon.
3. The whole human race was helping the Autobots, not just a few.
4. The Ark was shot down a few days prior to the emergence of the Autobots, with the Decepticons in the Nemesis, in hot pursuit.
5. The Ark was in Nevada, not Oregon.
6. The Decepticons were out to destroy stuff, not get energon.
7. Starscream was the team scientist, not the second in command, and I thought he came in later in the series.
8. There was no Autobot City. They all worked out of the Ark.
9. Optimus was a resurrected hero of the last war or something. Rodimus was there first as well, and he stepped down.
10. There was no Orion Pax. Optimus was always Optimus and the term 'Prime' was a title like 'captain' or 'king'. For increased irony and the heck of it, I gave him and Megatron a pre-war backstory as college roommates, best pals and serial pranksters.
11. There were a bunch of humans working with the Autobots directly, not just Spike, Carly or Sparkplug.

Wrong or not, that is the universe I write my fanfics in. It's special to me, in that its differences from canon are my own unique creation.

Coming later (maybe)... my twisted take on Beast Wars!!!!!!
