What is the most produced TF mold ever?

Seriously.

What mold has been made the most, out of any TF line ever?

Could it be the seeker mold, which was made for 6 characters in G1 and 2 in G2?

Or how about the Armada "seeker" mold, or the Demolisher mold, it's been repainted a few times.

Maybe even G1 Prime, that's been re-used a lot too.

Basically, put together, which mold would have the most individual toys made from it, making it the most prolific mold in the TF universe.

The thought of it just popped into my head, and it's been bothering me, so I decided to throw it out to you, the Seiberton.com family! (disfuncional as we may be :P )

The Armada Starscream was used quite alot, seeing as it was turned into Armada Thundercracker, and through remold it was made into Armada Skywarp and Universe Ramjet.

IMO, the toy that shouldn't have been remolded at all was Armada Sideswipe. It was repainted/remolded 3 times while figures like Armada Wheeljack didn't even have any repaints at all.

I thought G1 Bruticus or now Ruination has that honor? Unless there is another mold that has seen the light of day more times than Ruination.

I know with originals, reissues and E-hobby variants the G1 Sideswipe mold has been at numerous times. And there are many molds that within the last 5 years have been reused up to 3 times within recent lines. RID Autobot Brothers, E Skyblast, E Strongarm, Alternator Smokescreen/Silverstreak/Ricochet, Voyager size movie Optimus, E Constructicons are just a few of the recent molds to be used to death.

We aren't counting reissues in the list are we(meaning that G1 Starscream and Takara reissue would be two separate things)? Still though, G1 Starscream had several redecos, so would we count stuff like "Black Starscream", and "Ghost Starscream"?. They were reissues, but technically new uses of the mold.

The Rid Car Brothers supposedly were used so many times that the molds wore out.

Then there are the Mini-cons, I believe there were a bunch of Japanese store exclusive repaints of some of the molds.

Good question, but I wish I had a solid answer(it's off to tfu.info to double-check a few things though).

*Edit* The Seekers had 12 completely different paintjobs(Eight from G1/G2, Sunstorm, Ghost/Anime/Black Starscream).

Rid Prowl had 7 uses(Regular, Super, Botcon clear, Universe Inferno, Universe Prowl, OTFCC Sideswipe/Sunstreaker).

Rid Hot Shot(spychanger) had at least 9 uses, and the other original five probably had just as many.

I think the answer will be G1 Primes cab, with all the Prime and Magnus versions out there (Pepsi versions, reissues, variations, new year...) though somebody should count them together

At the rate he's going (5 repaints so far, if Premium is different from Movie Scenes), Movie Bumblebee is catching up rapidly...

If reissues are counted then this would be my guess, based on number of units produced from one mold.

If a mold has been re-tooled or if there are mold variations (however slight), does that 'disqualify' a mold?

The Beast Wars Dinobot mold has also seen a lot of repaints, and reissues.

Beast Wars Dinobot
Beast Wars Grimlock
Fox Kids Dinobot
Dinobots/Armada Grimlock
BW 10th US Dinobot
BW 10th Japan Dinobot

Also remolded into
BW Neo Hardhead
Beast Machines Dinotron
and BW II Thruster

Whew... I think that covers them all, if not, someone can correct me. :D

Not entirely true.

The American and Japanese releases are very different.

Different color plastic and yellow vs blue markings.

yeah, quite true.

i think the second most-remolded TF for the Maximals was:

Ultra Class Optimus Primal

-Original version (Blackjack)
-Universe
-Japan Clear
-Burning Convoy
-BW Reborn/BW 10th Anniv. (remolded faceplate)
-DX

i know i'm missing something, but i can't place what was it...

Lets see, not counting reissues or releases with other characters, the original seeker mold had at least 11:
-Starscream
-Skywarp
-Thundercracker
-Dirge
-Thrust
-Ramjet
-Sunfire
-G2 Starscream
-Anime Starscream
-Ghost of Starscream
-Black Starscream

The G1 prime mold had about 10:
-Optimus Prime
-Ultra Magnus
-G2 Optimus Prime
-Black Optimus Prime
-Movie Preview Ultra Magnus
-Matrix Glow Ultra Magnus
-Pepsi Optimus Prime (has a full trailer with pepsi written on it)
-Pepsi Convoy (has a trailer that can carry a pepsi bottle)
-Music Label Convoy (white)
-Music Label Convoy (red and blue)

So far, the seeker mold edges out over the Prime mold. If I've missed some figures, please add them to the list.

What about New Year Convoy or whatever it was called? The more show-accurate one with blue optics and transparent blue plastic'glass'.

And do we count the Diaclone versions, too? They're the same mold, after all.

I'm also trying to figure in production numbers.

Hasbro may have put out 100,000 of each seeker, but 200,000 of the Prime cab. Although, say they did make 100,000 of each seeker each time, that's more that a million seekers out there in one way shape or form.

I'm guessing that there is no real answer, but it's fun to speculate.

I know its not true, but its fun to think of G1 Bruticus as the most-used mold.

Next up: Commemorative Series Bruticus! :P
Latest Acquisition:
#307 - G1 Sparkstalker
#306 - G1 Wide Load
#305 - G1 Erector
#304 - Movie Landmine

I see a lot of G1 Primes. Including the Pepsi, iPod, Magnus, and other iterations.

There's a lot of G1 Seekers too.
