But critic will pan this!
Im also saying that there are still a slim chance that this film actually work. Its slim, but its there....
By "work" what do you mean?
As far as i can tell the film will be a great success on all fronts. Lets see many TF fans are wetting themselves to see it, it does infact have ALOT of G1 elements in there for all the whiners out there too. The characters look great on screen and the CGI is mind boggling, the merchandise is selling well, the new line of toys are very likeable and all the kids are gonna want em after theyve seen the film even if they wasnt transfans to begin with.
Then theres the simple fact that this is a pure popcorn money-making summer blockbuster, with huge names behind it which always catch the general audiences' eyes, i.e., Micheal Bay and Steven Speilberg.
I cant see this being anything but a success on nearly every level. Its not gonna win any awards for story telling, but it certainly is going to do exactly what a movie should do. Entertain.

Unless we have mases of freakishly over obsessed fans going to see it 18 times or more that's unlikely. I don't think anything will see 9+ months on the big screen like that again.
My misfortune to work in the theater at the time that movie came out. There wasn't a single showing that wasn't packed. No Titanic was not a good movie. It was the ultimate chick flick, and displayed the ultimate power of women in the cinema. You could dlearly tell when a man went to see the movie exactly who had made that decision. And quite often women would just go by themselves. Over and over and over again.

So what's it like to have the ability to see into the future?
Sonray wrote:Not really. As i was just a kid back then and i begged my dad to go see it, which we did and it was packed of course. Its not a chick flick, and it is a good movie. The 11 academy awards are some evidence of that, but those aside technically its a great film, amazing cgi, awesome production values, great acting fantastic direction and a wonderful score (apart from celine dion).
Sorry but im not going to let people bash that film as its one of my all time favourites. It gets alot of undeserved flak from people who simply dont understand it and those people arent willing to give it a second chance to find out what kind of film it really is but instead just say its "crap" or "a chick flick" and thats just pathetic.

Bah, get over it. Not everyone is going to like what you like. It was overly long boring tripe that was obvious from begining to end. LOL, not going to let people bash the film that's hilarious. Most people don't, hence the billion dollar profit margin. But believe me I understand it completely. It was a fictious, sappy, overblown, love story with a tragic ending based around the very real sinking of the titanic. Hardly difficult to understand it.
Koloth wrote:Mayahps I would have liked it more if I didn't have to deal the the constant flow of the idiot masses that couldn't wait for the movie to come out on DVD wasting money every weekend to watch the movie for the 15th time. It was not worth all the fuss. Masterpeice nothing it was mediocre. 2001: A Space Odysee is a masterpiece, A Clockwork Orange is a masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and on and on.

This is true. But sometimes it is fun to poke at people that get defensive just because you don't agree with them.
And actually I know a lot of people can't stand 2001. A 2+ hour movie with only 20 some minutes of dialogue. It is difficult to watch if you don't get the genius behind it.
Koloth wrote:I didn't suggest you didn't know your stuff. I said I don't agree that Titanic is a good movie. No, I don't see genius behind it. Like I said earlier I see " a fictious, sappy, overblown, love story with a tragic ending based around the very real sinking of the titanic." If you don't like my opinion tough.
As for the rest, nothing on that list I can really disagree with. Though I have to wonder if you have ever read the LOTR books? The books are clearly a masterpiece. They inspired and entire generation in the late 60s early 70s. And have been a major part of the world culture ever since.
My DVD collection is around 450-500. Haven't taken inventory in a few months.
