I was at target this morning and half to ask is movie cliffjumper just a repaint of 08 bumblebee if that is the case man does that just suck big time.

Afraid so man, you dont even get the remoulded head that you get with Stealth and Premium Bumblebee (the battle mask that you see BB use in the movie)

What did you expect? G1 Cliffjumper was just a red repaint of G1 Bumblebee. Classic CJ was just a red repaint of Classic BB. Even the "Robot Heroes" CJ is just a repaint of BB. It's practically a TF tradition. To my knowledge, in every TF series that has featured both BB and CJ, CJ is just a red repaint of BB. Why would the Movie line be any different?

G1 CJhad his own mold. It was similar to BB's and if I remember correctly each had red and yellow versions.

That would explain my confusion. But that also supports my point, that Hasbro has a tradition of repainting BB/CJ, so this is nothing new.

That red Bumblebee is known as 'Bumblejumper' (I dont beleive that is an offcial name though).

G1 Cliffjumper was very loosly based on a ferrai, Bumblebee a beatle. So Im afraid, GuyIncognito, that you are incorect this time.

There was some confusion with the naming back then. The fact remains that they took the G1 BB, repainted it red, and resold it as a different figure. Maybe I got the details wrong, but it supports my statement that this is not something new, and nobody should really be shocked or dismayed that they did it again.

Did anybody not know this? We have been seeing pics of CJ for the past 5 months. CJ=Repaint of BB. I though Everybody knew this.

Its not like its something Hasbro has never done, or was totally unexpected.

Nope. Bumblejumper was the fan-name given to a third mold that was released on both BB and CJ cards in the US, which was a way to get rid of overstock that Hasbro picked up. He's not an official character, and has no bio. But it is a different mold from BB and CJ.

I, for one, am pissed that I can't find Movie Cliffjumper. Repaint? yes. Still Awesome? Yes. The red and silver are just too cool to me.

The red version was still called Bumblebee. The tech spec even has a picture of a yellow Bumblebee on it, which confused me as a kid.

Movie Cliffjumper isn't that bad, I actually like him better than my Bumblebee. He has tighter joints and a better paint deco on the hood. Besides who doesn't like red camaros...

Nope! BumbleJumper is a completely different mold that was used in Diaclone that was just repckaged for BumbleBee cause they had them lying around. And Cliffjumper is a Porsche.

There are 4 molds and almost all of them had different colors, in fact in countrie like Argentina they had lots of colors!

Sadly due to initial similarities, for all recent Magnus'(starting in AEC) and CliffJumpers have been just repaints of Prime and BB respectivly.

As for the G1 delema, yeah, DaiClone had alot of little molds with alot of different color schemes that that transformed exactly the same. When Hasbro imported them, they tried to stay true, but basicly when one box ran empty they just flipped whatever the next one was on the cards in front of them.

I've seen lots of them in my area (PA). And as someone else mentioned, his joints are noticeable tighter than Movie BB. I keep my BB displayed in car mode, and I keep CJ in bot mode because his tighter joints allow for better posing. And red > yellow.

i wouldn't go online for it yet. once the allspark wave hits near you, you'll get one. it seems like they pack CJ five to a case. there's tons of them.

I wish they'd do something to revive Bumblejumper, and make the name official.

The name that really seems to get use these days is Bumper, which still works as a much more shortened form of Bumblejumper, still a combination of BB and CJ's names, and actually makes sense as a real word and of relevance to a car! I know he's in the Dreamwave comics, not so sure if he's been used anywhere in IDW or not.
