What's your favourite Decepticon, and from which toyline?
I am particularly interested in seeing whose favourite Decepticon comes from the Cybertron, Machine Wars, Armada, Energon or 2007 Movie series.
See i wanted to hunt down the Megatron from Machine Wars just for kicks and old times' sake, but I am also interested in seeing what you guys think if you would go buy a Decepticon.

I can't pick one favorite, but I'll just ring off a few from different lines that I own.
Armada: Megatron and Tidal Wave, Demolishor is great too! I say that you should absolutely pick up Megs and Tidal Wave. The latter is fantastic on his own, all massive and imposing, and he's got that combining gimmick...yeah, leave Tidal Wave on his own. XD. Starscream is also a must.
Energon: If this line did one thing right, it was the combiners. They were by no means perfect, but Steamhammer and his buddes are just fantastic. The crane truck makes a fantastic arm with a big claw-hand, double hinged elbow, and a bicep swivel. Plus Steamhammer has a waist swivel even in combined mode! And that head? Awesome! That lightpiping? The best thing ever!
Cybertron: I really like Wreckloose, he's got this nifty assymetical robot mode. Again, Stascream is a MUST. If you have room for SupremeScream, get him.
Movies: I really like Dotm Air Raid, he's just fun to play with, and you can probably still did him for cheap. Dotm voyagers Megatron and Shockwave are quite good too. Wreckage is okay, but he can't look straight forward, it's really bothersome.
CHUG: Oh my LUGNUT. I'm sure I don't need to say much with all the Lugnut love of the past few days! Also RTS Legends G1 Megatron is quite good.
Prime: Vehicon, Vehicon, Vehicon!!!
. Also Knock Out is quite fun, just don't pay too much for him, he's tiiiny. If you have a Target or Walmart near you, you might be able to find him, and get him for about $7, I know my Taget still has overstock ( a little at least) from the last wave of PRID deluxes.

I loved Energon Megatron, especially in the Voyager size. It was a good, solid, fun figure that was very easy to transform.
I have the voyager-sized Galvatron on my shelf. To this day he's my Galvatron.

Cybertron Scourge. Not very poseable but he's big, chunky, and satisfying (innuendo freebie, have at it).
RTS Lugnut is my absolute favorite, and you have to pry him from my cold dead hands if you want him.

By Primus yes! Lugnut is fantastic! He's one of the few non-G1 characters I display alongside my neo-G1 figures.

I actually loved Prime Airachnid.. okay nt really (legion class is good though)
I would actually go for the recent AM-33 Final Battle Megatron, most accurate Megatron to date and no stickers on him at all, except for the Decepticon insignia.

I've got 3 favorites, actually.
V2 MP Starscream: About as perfect as it gets for his G1 incarnation. The head sculpt is awesome, proportions are good, and he's even got the coronation gear.
TF Prime War Breakdown: Really like the character from the series, and the toy itself looks great.
MP Megatron: Say what you will about his legs and transformation, he's still the best rendition of G1 Megatron there is...for now.
Would have added TF Prime Vehicon aka Steve, but he's more of a cannon fodder type character.

Beast Hunters Shockwave is a favorite, but regrettably not the favorite. One of the figures that convinced me to get back into collecting, and that I absolutely fell in love with at first sight, was Generations Soundwave. It is the figure I use to represent Soundwave in virtually every configuration of display I make, and do play with it regularly.
Maybe in time he may be usurped, but for now my 2nd favorite Decepticon has my favorite (recent) toy.

Sticking to the MW/UT/Movie lines of the original question:
MW: There's honestly not a single Decepticon toy I'd recommend. Some of them are OK (Soundwave, Starscream), but generally very simplistic.
UT: Here we have more leeway.
Armada - Wheeljack, Tidal Wave (although I prefer the Micron Legend Shockwave colors).
Energon - Shockblast, Galvatron, Bruticus Maximus, Scorponok.
Cybertron - Supreme Starscream, voyager Soundwave, Megatron, Mudflap, Crumplezone, Scrapmetal, Primus, Shortround.
Movies/HftD/2010/RTS: Bonecrusher, Brawl, Payload, Dropkick, Mixmaster, Stockade, Wreckage, Fracture, Hailstorm, deluxe Sideways, Lugnut, Bludgeon, voyager Long Haul, Mindwipe, Crankstart, TakaraTomy Vortex, Terradive.

I can't decide. But while looking at my Decepticons, don't know why but I pick United Frenzy and Rumble.

My favorite
ever, all series combined is Starscream. I got about every molds. For real this time. Robomasters Starscream will be MINE in roughly two weeks.
Anyway, here's my faves for the series you mentioned:
Cybertron: Supreme Starscream. A great mold and he's a KING. Litterally.
Machine Wars: I just have Starscream and Soundwave for the sake of collection. My though? Meh. This series is an easy pass.
Armada: Tidalwave is a must own as a toy. Leader sized and he's 4 vehicles for the price of one!
Energon: Defenitely Leader Megatron. The mold is great, fun to transform, and he's amazing looking in both modes.
2007 Movie: Gotta go with voyager Starscream. He have a fun robot mode and the chunky jet mode is adorable. Sure, the digits missiles are annoying, but he's a little marvel of engeneering with a great automorphing gimmick. He's also dirt cheap and is a great custom fodder. Bonus points for the shiny premium version.

I have considered getting back in the 1st run... Where the price was actually under $100... But I decided against it. I like the whole black prime look. But now that I have both the united and SDCC ones... I might want to hunt down a KO one...
