They are 1:32 scale, so around the size of the average deluxe in alt-mode, and about 6" tall in robot mode.

Xterminator wrote:- They all look very shine on pictures. Are they made of plastic or metal ?

They are mainly plastic, but with a decent amount of diecast parts in the main structural body. The paint applications are pretty high quality.

Thank you very much for all this precious info !

I liked everything I heard, but I was expecting that the figures would be a bit taller.
Maybe I should watch some video-reviews before deciding to collect this line ...

Anyhow, Thundercracker (and Ultra Magnus for that matter) has just been released and with the holiday season being filled with MP Rodimus Convoy, 2010 Predaking and a couple other releases, Alternity is taking a back seat.

Very basic question: What is the difference between the Alternity and Alternators/Binaltech line ?

Thanks for the info ...

Size is the biggest difference. The Alternators are around Voyager Human Alliance size while the Alternity are Deluxes.

Another difference is that Binaltechs stay more true to the original G1 whenever possible (vehicle licensing can be a pain), and they have no Automorph whatsoever. Between Binaltech and Alternator the main differences are material (die cast for Binaltech, all plastic for Alternators) and placement of the steering wheel (Japan drives on the left side like the UK).

What astonishes me is how, in every thread about Alternity, several people ask how tall they are and if they're as tall as Alt/Bin.

The Alternity is a flawed line but for some reason I still love it! Even though Prime was a big disappointment to me when I opened him I still love him.

I can understand it though. From the amount of detail on them they look like larger figures, especially if you're used to Alternators.

Not to mention, for the price, you'd expect something a little bigger... What got me into Alternity wasn't the figures themselves, but the characters they picked and the fact that the seekers are now cars. Granted, I'm not a big fan of that particular mold, I thought that it was verrry creative. The only reasons I haven't tried Alternators is 1.) I have started collecting farrr too late for that. 2.) They were always pretty expensive. 3.) They chose some random-ass characters (i.e. Rumble and not Frenzy. Swindle and not the other Stunticons...)

Well, if you just starting collecting after and because of the movies, lines named "Alternity" or "Binaltech" sound quite exotic ...

In accordance with another post, I was wondering if the Alternity line was bigger because they look so detailed and similar to HA.

That is a helluva deal...if I didn't already have Bumble I'd be all over it! Heck, I'm tempted even having him already, but that might lead to going after other repaints in this line and I'm trying to draw the line somewhere for a change.

But if you have an awesome deal for just the two, let me know...

Well, after investigating the Thundercracker comic, I've pretty much decided that Alternity is pretty much.... Over... :/

I love the figures I've obtained. A lot, actually. But, I'm not sure this is a line I want to finish if it's just Prime, Megs, Bumbles, and the Seekers. So... I think I may be selling my Alternity figures. I'd really like someone to stop me, but if there really is no hope for the Alternity line, I don't think I can hold on to them. :/

I don't understand your logic. If the line is over (and based on the Thundercracker comic, it looks like it is :-( ) then that makes being a completist relatively cheap in this case. If you love the figures don't sell them.

Don't forget about 'Ultra' Magnus, Black Convoy, and Cliff...as well as semi-pointless black & blue Megatrons and silver Prime. There are enough of them to have an impressive display if you want to invest the cash into all the repaints. Personally, I only bought one of each mold. Cool enough figures, but not worth the price tag.

The thing is, that I was expecting a more vast character selection when I started out. Obviously I'd love to have all of them, but it's hard to convince myself to complete it when all I get to look forward to are the same, (in my opinion, overrated) characters. I DO love the figures. My Magnus and Megs are awesome. But the only one, as a character, I'm even a fan of in the entire series is Magnus. And with the FansProject Causality figures, and the upcoming Project Deva, I'm never going to have enough money to complete the set.

(Secretly I'm really upset they didn't do an Ironhide/Ratchet. That hurt, because I felt there was a lot of potential for those characters.)

I didn't mind that mold too much, honestly. In fact, I thought it was a bit nifty. But with the detail and engineering (and, even, originality) that went into the Alternity line, Ironhide and Ratchet could've been sooo amazing. I would've much rather seen my two favorite Autobots rather than Bumble and Cliff. Again.

Other characters are mentioned in the last story like Elita-1 so there is small hope that some more figures might be made. Maybe.
